The Return

In a dimly lit room, a small figure was holed up in a corner, shaking from the cold water that was dripping from a nearby tap. The floor was dump and wet, green moss had grown all around the skirting board and on the lower walls. The room had a tiny window near the ceiling for light and ventilation. The figure in the room was bloody with scraps of flesh hanging all over the body. The tightly shut door burst open and the clicking of high heels were so loud, suddenly a shrill voice was heard from the door. "It is time, we can finally get rid of you, Adriel Frost." She laughed crazily and a little madness and jealousy could be seen in her eyes. The figure holed up in the corner moved and lifted her head up, she looked at so called best friend of twelve years, Holly Well. She loved her, shared everything with her and saved her life multiple times. "Why?" Adriel asked, struggling not to choke on her tongue which was loosely hanging. It was cut during one of her torture sessions with Holly. This nightmare begun six months ago after her husband presented her with divorce papers and claimed that he loved Holly more. Another reason was that she couldn't give him a child and that she was always busy leading him to look for companionship elsewhere. After signing the divorce papers she was sent on a vacation but never reached her destination. She was kidnapped and was locked in this room ever since. As time went by she found out that Holly was involved, and she visited her frequently revealing everything about her schemes. Adriel would be tortured, beaten and abused emotionally every time. She found out that she was adopted and that Holly made up a lie that broke her adopted family apart. Since then she had chosen to stay with Lucas and Holly. Holly laughed at her stupidity after telling her the truth and told her that she just wanted her to loose everything and everybody that loved her. Every visit was like reopening a wound that was almost healed, she was so angry at herself and regretted her naivety and stupid choices. This nearly drove her mad. " Well since today is your last day on this earth, let me show you the finale." Holly said as she took out her phone to show Adriel the latest trending news. " According to the news, I Holly Well will be getting married to the millionaire Lucas Dante the sole heir to the Dante cooperation and one of the big families in country Azure. Thanks to your hard work, best friend, I am the true Mrs. Dante that everyone knows. You are also wanted by the police for killing your own family and running away after stealing all their properties. Thank you Addie, with that I've got inheritance for my marriage, I will not be getting married as a poor woman. Finally, I will do you one last favor, you will die here tonight. Instead of going to prison and rotting there. Reason being that your biological family are looking for you. Apparently your silver hair and deep blue eyes are the signature look of the Deltas', the number one family in this continent. I thought marrying Lucas could get me closer to those prominent families but who would have thought you will be my golden ticket! Yay! I will have to climb up step by step no matter what my dear friend." " Let me introduce you to doctor Daniel the famous medical geneticist and plastic surgeon. I am here for your identity, but first I have to play with the Dantes'. That man is even more foolish than you, just a pretty face and he fell for me without looking back. Anyway dealing with fools like you and him is really easy and enjoyable. Doctor Dan, that thing over there is our donor, take whatever specimen you will require for the procedure." The doctor walked towards Adriel and unpacked his tools from his bag and started removing her facial skin and draining her blood. Eight hours later of pain and torture, Adriel looked like a zombie from the movies. She looked at the ceiling blankly but her heart was burning with anger. She vowed if she had another chance to live, she would never abandon her loved ones. She would love them unconditionally and protect them especially her adopted parents. As she was busy regretting and contemplating her poor choices, Lucas had arrived and was busy hugging Holly. He had been outside pouring petroleum around the house and compound, he was glad that he chose Holly and left the stupid nerd. " Goodbye Adriel may you have a safe trip to hell and please say hi to your darling parents. You are all really a bunch of fools." Lucas said with a smirk. Adriel finally smiled , knowing that Lucas will be played by Holly made her heart rest easy. " No loser, we shall meet in hell. I hope Holly does a number on you before sending you over." Adriel said in heart. The doctor had already left so Lucas and Holly looked at Adriel one last time, they laughed and walked out of the room. They lit the lighter and threw it towards the room, the house caught fire, it was blazing hot. Adriel who was in the room was nostalgic. She saw all her childhood memories pass by before her eyes. She was so happy with a loving family until when she turned sixteen, when she met Holly Well. She regretted saving her from the bullies, or that was a scheme to get her to become her friend. She recalled every memory with Holly and noticed that every time that she ran to 'help' her friend it was a planned scenario. Adriel found it funny, how she had been played for years and she was just led by the ear. One memory that shocked her to the core was an incident that happened when she was eighteen years old. They were at school and it was a swimming lesson, she hadn't learned how to swim and Holly was the only person who knew. One of the student who was standing close to her was accidentally pushed from behind and pushed her forward making her fall into the pool. She screamed for help, everybody was shocked at first and it took time for her to be saved. She had to spend two weeks at home recuperating. She always thought that she was pushed by that student and she ended up ignoring her classmates and only Holly could talk to her. As this particular memory played before her like a movie, she saw Holly and another girl laughing after they pushed the student who was behind her, that student fell hard and hurt her head. While others were shocked Holly was seated at the bleachers watching everything with a smile on her face. Adriel watched such scenes one after the other, finally she watched her body burn to ashes. The fire burned like an inferno, she watched all this quietly. She let out a sigh and said solemnly, " I really deserve this karma for being a fool and trusting the wrong people." She chuckled and closed her eyes.
