UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER
*Chapter One:
Sandra swept the floor of the dormitory, her worn broom gliding across the tile. She worked tirelessly to keep the living quarters clean for the Chinese workers who stayed there. One day, a new worker arrived - Wei Jian, a quiet and reserved man from China. Sandra noticed him observing her from afar, but they hadn't exchanged words.
As the days turned into weeks, Sandra grew accustomed to Wei Jian's presence. They'd nod or exchange brief smiles, but nothing more. Wei Jian was focused on his work, and Sandra was busy with her cleaning duties.
Wei Jian, on the other hand, couldn't help but notice Sandra's bright smile and warm eyes. He'd catch glimpses of her as she went about her work, and find himself looking forward to these brief encounters. Despite their differences, he felt drawn to her kindness and warmth.
As the days passed, Wei Jian found himself wondering about Sandra's story - what brought her to this job, what were her dreams and aspirations? He'd ask her questions, but she'd just smile and say she was happy to work hard.
Before Sandra knew it, Wei Jian's stay was coming to an end. He'd be returning to China soon, and their paths might never cross again. Sandra wondered if she'd ever see him again.
As Wei Jian prepared to leave, he turned to Sandra and said, "Thank you for your hard work, Sandra. I'll never forget my time here." Sandra smiled, feeling a pang of sadness. "You're welcome, sir. Have a safe trip home."
Their eyes met, and for a moment, time stood still. Wei Jian smiled, and Sandra's heart skipped a beat.
