Wei Jian's parents, though polite, remained skeptical about Sandra. They'd envisioned a traditional Chinese marriage for their son, and Sandra's Nigerian background raised concerns.
One day, Wei Jian's mother, Mrs. Li, approached Sandra with a mixture of curiosity and caution. "Sandra, dear, how do you plan to adapt to our Chinese customs?" she asked, her tone gentle but probing.
Sandra, sensing the underlying concern, replied thoughtfully, "I've been learning about Chinese traditions, Mrs. Li. I want to respect your family's values while sharing my own."
Mrs. Li nodded, slightly impressed. "You're a kind and respectful girl, Sandra. But our son's happiness is paramount. Can you truly make him happy?"
Sandra's eyes met Mrs. Li's, filled with sincerity. "I care deeply for Wei Jian, Mrs. Li. I'll do my best to understand and support him."
