Chapter 28 - Hang on, Love

Eric POV

Derek and I both are about to shift when a blond super model with perfect green eyes stands between us with her hands out to stop us.

“WAIT” she shouts.

“Mate” Araldo, my wolf growls, oh goddess, she is gorgeous, I am a lucky bastard.

“What do you think you are doing, zeta?” Derek growls.

“I’m sorry alpha but… Derek, please, don’t do this” she pleads.

Derek? Why the f**k are they on a first name bases?

“And why is that Natalia?” Derek asks losing his patience, Natalia, such a beautiful name.

“Eric, focus, you are about to get killed, so wipe the drool of your face” Kyle links me.

Oh s**t! I guess I forget what was happening for a moment.

“He is my mate” she says looking down like she is ashamed, that huts.

Derek lets out a furious growl, punching the tree next to him almost breaking it n half.

“Oh, for f**k’s sake” the beta yells in frustration, then mumbles “Just another one in the tormented mate bond s**t”.

I can hear a lot of gasps and whispers around me and even few angry growls, are they angry that I’m her mate or that she has a mate to begin with?, well they can suck it because she is mine.

“I’ll deal with you later Natalia, now tell your mate to hand her over if he values his or his brother’s life” Derek says.

“No, You can’t, Eric, he’ll kill her” Kyle screams trying to shield Leila and gets held back by a couple of warriors.

“Don’t f*****g touch him” I growl trying to go to my brother and now I’m the one held back by few warriors but I’m not that easy to hold down, I elbow one then punch the other, only to have more warriors try to hold me.

“Eric, STOP” my mate tries to calm me down putting a hand on my chest.

My name sounds different coming from her mouth, and her touch erupts all kind of fireworks on my skin and somehow calms me down.

“Alpha Derek” I start to say something not knowing what to say exactly, Leila did help kidnap his mate for crying out loud.

“Do you f*****g think I’m asking? The only reason you are still breathing is because you are Natalia’s mate and even that won’t help you for long” Derek says looking at me with murderous eyes.

Apparently he and my mate are pretty close, why the f**k is that? I believe I have a new reason to hate him now.

“It’s okay, I’ll come willingly just let them go” Leila says ignoring Kyle’s objections.

“As if you have an option, grab them” Derek orders.

Kyle and I try to resist, but it’s no use, we are just outnumbered and dragging the rest of the alphas into this will just get them killed.

Derek POV

“Put these two in a separate cell” I order the warriors as we enter the dungeon ignoring Leila’s boyfriend’s mix of pleads and empty threats while his older brother, the alpha, is just quiet, probably trying to come up with a plan to get out of here which he will definitely fail to execute.

“Should we put her in the special room?” Dean asks.

“Hell No” Max comes barging in into the dungeon, who the f**k told him?.

“Max, Stay out of it” I warn him.

“I can’t do that Derek” he says looking at Leila.

“She plotted against Alexandria”, is he kidding me right now?

“I know, but you can’t kill her” he says anxiously.

“I’m not going to kill her, not right away anyways” I say and the boyfriend starts yelling again, so I gesture the warriors to close the cell’s door… finally, silence.

“Think what Alexandria will say if she knew you killed Luke’s little sister or even tortured her” Max tries to reason, to save his little mate.

“I really don’t give a s**t right now Max, all I care about is to bring Alexandria back” I snarl at him.

“And I don’t?... I just think there is another way to do that without having Alexandria cut our balls off when she finds out” he shouts, yes, the fucker has a point, we’ll be lucky if that is all that she did.

“You are right… torture the boyfriend then, that’ll get her to talk” I say with a devious smirk on my lips.

“NOO, YOU CAN’T DO THAT, HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT” Leila screams, which just proves that it’s the right solution.

“Derek” Max tries but I ignore him.

“Take her to that cell” I order one of the warriors to put her in a cell far from her boyfriend’s but not too far so she could still hear his screams, as motivation you might call it.

“No please, I’ll tell you everything, just leave Kyle alone, please” Leila pleads as she is dragged to the cell breaking into tears.

“Talk” I order her.

“I don’t know exactly where she is I swear” she start to say, I have no time for lies.

“Get with the boyfriend” I command one of the warriors.

“No, please, I swear I don’t know where she is but I might know who do” she says and I raise my hand to stop the warrior.

“Who?” Dean asks.

“They weren’t werewolves and I was suppose to act like Alexandria is one, they smelled like humans, but they all had this tattoo on their arms… a wolf’s head with an X on it” she hastily says.

“Subs” Max concludes.

“And what was your part in all of this?” I question her.

“I was to call her and say that I was in some kind of trouble and I need her to meet me alone, so I came up with I had a fight with Kyle and was kicked out, that way I would be sure she won’t bring warriors with her… and… and when she shows up I was to drug her with the gun, he said she won’t see it coming if it was me” she confesses.

“And who is he?” I ask barely controlling myself from ripping her head off.

“I don’t know exactly other than he is a werewolf, a very powerful one, maybe an alpha from what I could sense, he approached me a while ago, after it was known that she is your mate, I refused at first but when I saw her with him” she says referring to Max,

“It was a done deal for me… I honestly didn’t think she’d show up or even care” she says like she is surprised.

“Get her out of my sight” I say through gritted teeth and they drag her to the cell.

“Max” I turn to Max who is on the phone.

“Already on it” he replies.

“Is that her?” Adam's voice come from behind us firm and cold, as usual.

Shit! s**t! s**t!

“How did you get in here?” I ask really needing to know who is the fucker that I’m going to punish .

“We let him in alpha, he is the Luna’s father … and the hunter king” a young warrior says shaking like his friend beside him, realizing the mistake they’ve made.

“I don’t care if he is the werewolf king himself, YOU ONLY ANSWER TO YOUR ALPHA” I roar, I really didn’t need that s**t now.

“Sorry alpha” they say whimpering.

“Your punishment will be determined later, now leave” Dean informs them.

“I’m still waiting for an answer to my question” Adam says.

“Yes, uncle, it’s her, but she's been integrated and we already got the information that we need”,

“And how do you know it’s the truth, she may be lying to you, but she won’t lie to me” Adam says going toward Leila and before I say anything Max blocks his way.

“Chief, she is not lying, and she is Luke’s sister”

“And I should care because?” Adam asks.

“Alexandria won’t like it if she knew you’ve hurt her, you just started to get your relation back with her” Max reasons.

“She’ll get over it” Adam say pushing past Max, but Max rushes after him and block his way again, and at this moment I’m just watching how will all of this unfold.

“Chief, I can’t let you do that” Max says fully blocking his way.

“What do you think you are doing sergeant?” Adam asks with an eyebrow raised.

“It’s just… she… she is my mate” Max finally says,

“What? Are you sure?” Adam says with an unexpected expression, alarmed.

“Yes” Max answers surprised by his uncle’s reaction as well.

“Did you check her information?” Adam says, his face is back to it's stoic normal.

“Yes, waiting for mason to get back to me” Max replies.

“Okay, I’ll be waiting in Derek’s office, tell me if you find anything” and with that he leaves.

What the hell was that?

It’s been a couple of hours now since we got the information from Leila, Max is using his connections in the hunters community with the help of his brother to see if there is any word about subs taking any werewolves near our area.

Adam hasn’t said a word since the dungeon. From what I’ve heard and the one other time that I’ve met him, he is not a man of many words, but this, this is different.

The news of Max having a werewolf mate was shocking as expected, but I thought he will be angry, disgust, disappointed even, but what I saw in his eyes, was fear.

Unfortunately I don’t have the time or the mindset to think about that now, finding my mate is my one and only priority.

“I think we found her” Max Says and in minutes we are all loaded in our SUVs including Adam and his men, heading to the location Max gave us.
