Chapter 27 - Leila’s whereabout

Derek POV

I’m on my way to my office after Dean linked me that Alexandria’s father is here. How do you tell a father that you lost his daughter?

I guess he already knows, that’s why he is here, right?

“No, he is here so you can braid each other’s hair, you i***t”

“Seriously, Rex?”

“I’m lashing out, deal with it” f*****g mutt.

I don’t have time for him. I reach the office and just open the door and enter… where is he? , oh, he is standing at the window looking out of it. Is that where Alexandria got it from?

“Hello, Alpha” Adam greets, without even turning; he always says alpha like it’s an insult.

“Adam” I simply reply, I still loath the asshole.

“So you lost my daughter?” he says, finally turning with a pointed look in his eyes mixed with anger, like he knew I wasn’t capable of keeping his daughter safe. I guess he was right.

“We’ll get her back” that’s all I have to say, that’s what I have to believe. There is no other option for me.

“No, I’ll get her back, you’ve done enough or in this case didn’t, hand over all the information and evidence you’ve gathered” he orders like he is the f*****g king, will f**k him.

“Let’s kill him, he is being disrespectful” what the f**k? Rex is losing it.

“He is Alexandria’s father and aren’t you over reacting a bit?”

“Okay, then s***h him a little.” I don’t react to that, I just shut him out.

“Listen here, Adam, I know you are Alexandria’s father and I can understand your anger and frustration, but don’t think for a f*****g minute that you will come into my pack and bark orders like you’re the goddamn boss around here” I growl.

I haven’t forgotten that he burned a wolf pack down or the s**t he put Alexandria through growing up, how he took out all his anger with what her mother did on her.

He doesn’t get to come here on some high horse and claim he knows better or that he is her saver.

“No, I’ll leave the barking for you, dog” he say and I let out a growl, the disrespectful asshole, Rex is right, maybe s***h him a little bit, Alexandria won’t mind.

“Uncle Adam?” Max says, coming into the office, saving his uncle. “Dean told me you are here”,

“Max, finally someone I can talk to”, f*****g asshole.

“No offence chief, but what are you doing here? You’ll blow your cover with Carter” Max asks,

“He doesn’t know that I’m here, and did you really think my daughter would get kidnapped and I'd just sit around?” he says arrogantly.

“Of course not chief, but we got this handled” Max says, sharing a look with me. He doesn’t want Adam here either. If he finds out that Leila is behind this, he’ll just torture his precious mate to death and I might join him to be honest.

“Poorly, you are handling it poorly. You know Carter has eyes on the pack, it won’t be long before he figures out Alexandria is missing. I have my crew with me waiting at the border, so just give me all that you have about the situation and I’ll bring her back” Adam says, more like command.

“Derek, we see Leila” Dean links me.

“Grab her” I order him.

“She has her boyfriend and his alpha brother with her”,

“Kill them if they get in the way, I’ll be right there”. I just need to distract Adam; I don’t trust what he’ll do and I need to confirm my suspicions about who she is working with and if she really is the one behind this.

“Max, please show your uncle the war room and tell the men to give him anything he wants. I’ve already told them you are coming” I rush the words out and Max looks at me suspiciously before he nods.

Eric POV

“Where were you, Leila?” Kyle asks irritated. He had been pacing the living room all night when he woke up and didn’t find his girlfriend in bed nor the entire house.

I still don’t know why he had to wake me up; it’s not the first time she has taken off for a couple of hours since she found her mate. It really hit her hard and no one can blame her.

I feel bad for them, they used to be inseparable. I actually wished I could someday have a relationship like theirs.

“Leila, answer me please”, Kyle asks again, fisting his hands.

“I was out for a run, Kyle” she says, trying to go to their room.

“You’re lying” he says, blocking her way.

“What are you talking about? Move Kyle” she says, trying to walk around him.

“I know you and you are lying. Where the hell were you? Were you with him?” he says, blocking her way again.

“What? Are you shitting me, you think I’m cheating on you?” now she is insulted.

“Well, were you? He is your mate after all; you won’t be able to resist the bond for long”,

“ You are out of your mind if you think that I’ll ever give in to that piece of s**t, that I’ll ever cheat on you, after all we’ve been through and apparently you don’t know me at all” she says, shoving him back.

“Then where the f**k were you?” he yells.

“Guys, lower your voices, you are going to wake up the whole house” I try to make them to shut up but fail.

“You know what? I don’t need this right now” Leila says and heads out of the house again, and Kyle is right behind her, this is not going to end well.

Leila stumps angrily through the woods, Kyle follows her yelling and demanding answers and I follow the both of them, trying to shut them up again before the whole pack wakes up, not just the house or before this situation gets further out of hand.

I hear a crack of a branch and tell them to stop, but of course, they are not listening anyway.

“STOP” I command and they finally do. Before I can say anything, wolves and warriors surround us from all directions with Beta Dean leading them still in his human form.

I immediately take a stance in front of Kyle and Leila, then I feel it, that tug. My mate is here, I just can’t see her yet.

“What do you want?” I Ask the beta.

“Just the girl, resist and we’ll have to take you down if necessary” he threatens.

“Did her mate send you to take her away?” Kyle snarls, I don’t think it’s about that though.

“No, she arranged the kidnapping of the Luna of the crimson river” The beta Snarls back, looking directly at Leila, who is giving him a defiant look.

Oh no, please no, don’t make it true.

“Leila?” I ask. And she doesn’t answer. More importantly, she doesn’t deny it. f**k!

“No she didn’t, it was me, it was all my idea” Kyle is trying to rescue his girlfriend from certain death, f*****g i***t.

“No, he didn’t, he got nothing to do with that, he didn’t even know” Leila confessing.

“We know… the whole pack and the neighboring packs just heard you fighting about your whereabouts yesterday” the beta says dismissively, so the fight was good for something I guess.

“So just hand the girl over, I don’t want to have to kill you, alpha” the beta threatens again.

“I really can’t do that beta and I’m not that easy to kill” I challenge him,

“Let’s test that, shall we” Alpha f*****g Derek says, when the hell did he come here.

He comes my way, claws out eyes pitch black and his fangs are almost piercing through his lips.

I guess I’ll finally get what I wished for, a chance to fight with the almighty alpha slayer.

We are both about to shift when a blond super model with perfect green eyes stands between us with her hands out to stop us.
