Chapter 18 -

Eric POV

Nothing is going as planned. This visit did more damage than it did good. A matter of fact, it did nothing good.

We are now sure we can’t take the crimson river down. Alpha Michael is a lying scumbag, our father deserved what he got and more, and my brother’s girlfriend found her mate who isn’t my brother. No no, he is the hunter who killed her f*****g parents.

What the f**k was the moon goddess thinking creating that bond?

Oh and let’s not forget, I didn’t figure out who my mate is, which was one of the main reasons we even went to this damn visit.

We are now in another meeting with the rest of the exiled alphas, who apparently some of them knew the truth but saw it was still unjustified for Derek to retaliate the way he did, f*****g assholes.

I mean I can excuse the younger alphas, not because they are still alphas and we need their strengths and their packs on our side, but in reality, some of them are barely 18 and easily fell under their father’s influence and probably knew nothing of their fathers’ true plans.

 Edward, on the other hand, was one month away from taking over his position. He defiantly knew what his father was doing and how disgusting and twisted plan B was. Hell, even plan A was unjustified, taking down a man just because he is more powerful or because his abusive trash of a dad said so.

Yeah, alpha Louis’s repetition was well known and the s**t he did to his sons was the gossip of the community, even if there was the slightest chance that they didn’t know Louise’s intentions on raping his son’s mate, they still knew what a horrible man he was and still followed.

“I say that should be our next move”, Edward proceeds to explain yet another shameful plan.

“And you think that will salvage our families' names? That’s how we prove to the world that our fathers are not disgraceful men who deserved what they got?” Oliver, one of the older alphas question. He was as shocked as I was to learn the truth. He apparently was supposed to take on his position 2 years prior to the attack but his father kept delaying it, didn’t want to let go of the power, I guess.

“Your families’ names will go down in history as the alphas who took down the almighty alpha slayer; no one will care how you did it, as long as you do it” Lincoln, Edward’s beta, or Edward’s father beta to be exact, defending his alpha’s plan,

The man is as shady as his former and current alpha if you ask me, but unfortunately, he intrigued the interest of most of the alphas with his last statement.

“ That’s not true beta, people remember, it will be a hollow victory with nothing true to celebrate. Yes, we will be known for taking down Derek stronghold, but we will also be known as cowards who held no true power to take him down like true alphas do, through fighting and blood, not by kidnapping women and betraying trust” I sat firmly and the beta tries to argue, but I don’t give him a chance.

“And haven’t our fathers tried that already and miserably failed? They had a strong ally too and an excellent opportunity. Look what that got them” I continue, which seem to attract the attention of the hesitant younger alphas.

“You are just asking us to repeat history and expect different results, alpha Edward, and that is not a smart move” I say, putting the final nail in the coffin of Edward’s plan … for now.

Leila POV

“Nooo, mom, dad, nooo” I scream as he slices my mother’s throat and her body falls lifeless next to my father’s dead one.

I try to run to them but the other hunter stops me, grabbing my arms and screams in my face.

“Where is Alexandria? Where is the hunter”, I’m instantly filled with dread .

“What do you want with her? She is pregnant, please don’t hurt her” I plead, they can’t kill her too. My brother won’t survive losing his wife and pup.

“So, you do know her?” the hunter asks a little confused, and my so-called future mate looks as confused.

“Yes, she is my brother’s wife”, my answer seems to change something in them, and they decide to help me along with few others.

We could smell the smoke and see the flames as our pack burn while we ran for our lives.

I could see my brother’s house burn to aches and I just knew he didn’t survive as well, nothing and no one survived, my home, my pack and my family they all perished and left me behind.

“Leila?” Kyle calls, shaking me slightly.

“Sorry, were you saying something?” I ask trying to regain my surroundings.

“You were lost in your thoughts again, are you okay?” Kyle asks, concerned.

“No… I can’t find a way out of this, Kyle... Lysandra won’t let me kill him nor reject him… he has to pay and her too” I say with finality.

“Her? You mean Lysanrda your wolf?” he asks, confused. My wolf is a traitor, but she is a part of me. I can’t really hurt her even if I tried to.

“No, I mean Alexandria… I actually thought she died with my brother. Imagine my surprise to find out she is alive and well, deceiving another werewolf, an alpha this time, she is f*****g her way up”. I say with disgust, I can’t believe I once considered her family.

“They say he is her mate Leila” Kyle tries to defend her for no f*****g reason.

“Hunters don’t get mates, and they definitely don’t get a second chance mate. I doubt she was even my brother’s, maybe she put a spell on him or something” I say searching for any logical explanation of what happened to my family.

“But you say she was pregnant”,

“Maybe that was a lie too, or maybe it wasn’t his. Tell me where is this baby now, if it was Luke’s? I bet she left her with her true father, or maybe killed her too like the cold blooded b***h that she is” I say feeling my anger rising.

“I don’t know, but from what you used to say about her, she was a good person, and they came that night after her not with her” Kyle again with his defenses.

“If she is so innocent, tell me what was she doing hanging out with the man who murdered my family, her supposed family? Why did she have him in her pack?... it was all a lie, a hoax to get inside and kill everyone. She will do the same again with crimson river”,

“If her being your brother’s mate is a lie or a spell, does that mean you and that Max guy are under a spell too? And if so, why? Who would benefit from that?” Kyle tries to reason.

“What are you trying to say Kyle?” I ask losing my patience.  

“I’m not saying anything; I’m just trying to figure this out like you” he says in frustration.

“I need to think, I’m going for a run” I say as I start to take of my cloth.

“No, not again. The last time you didn’t shift back till two days had past Leila, letting Lysandra take control is not the answer” he says stopping me.

“Then that leaves one answer” I say coldly.

“And what is that?” he asks anxiously.

“Kill them both, and I know who will help me” I say with resolution.
