Elias pov
I kick in the hospital doors. Doc is waiting there with a bed and other life saving devises. “Is she still breathing?” Doc asks. I nod. “Its very faint but she is breathing.” I lay her body on the bed and Doc and her nurses start to rush her back. I go to follow, and a nurse grabs my shoulder. “Let go of me!” I shout. I need to be there for her, to be close to her. “Alpha, please, Doc will need the room to work. we will send word if anything changes.” I scowl at the nurse and he looks visible scared but doesn’t back down. ‘It is not his fault.’
I listen to wolf and try to calm myself. “I’ll be in my office, come find me if any news comes to light.” I say and swiftly turn to walk away. “Please Kassandra, I need more time.” I whisper to myself as I walk out of the hospital. My beta is waiting for me close outside. “They were 25 miles outside of grounds.” I spit out. How could my men have missed the building? Chris hangs his head recognizing his and my own failure. “How is she?” he asks and just the thought of how I found her and what she went through make my blood boil. “I’m glad I got her out there. We need to find James, he escaped. He managed to get Kass to attack me and used that as a distraction to run.” Chris is stunned and speechless.
“Call a meeting. I need to talk to everyone but first please send the Kanes to my office. I want to address them first in private.” Chris nods and breaks away from my side. All I want to do in sleep but there is too much to be done and I can’t risk sleep till I know Kass is safe. I walk into the pack house and everyone inside stops what they are doing to stare at me. I ignore them all and walk up the stairs. I know I look like s**t because I feel like s**t.
I reach my office, and everything is where I left it when I ran out. I sigh and sit at my desk. I start to read over the old now moot plan to Kass. My blood begins to boil, and I can feel my animal instinct start to take over. I glide my arm swiftly and harshly throwing everything off my desk violently to the ground. I let out a cry and fall back into my chair holding my head in my hands. There’s a knock at my door.
I take a deep breathe and try to gather myself. “You are the Alpha. You have a job to do.” I tell myself and the knock sounds again. “Come in.” I say and the door opens, and Mr. and Mrs. Kane walk through. “Please come in and sit. I wanted to talk to you guys personally before I addressed everyone.” They still looked concerned and I can tell they are thinking the worse as the look around my office to see the mess. Their concern only grows the more they move to their seats in front of my desk.
“First I will tell that Kassandra has been found alive.” I pause and let them have their moment of relief before I say anything else. “Is she okay? Is she here?” Fred asks me as Regina is to over come with emotion. “She was just dropped off in the hospital. She is in critical condition and Doc is doing what she can.” Their happiness falls slightly. “As soon as I get any news, I will make sure you guys are the first to hear. You may stay in my office as long as you need. I need to talk to the pack.” Fred nods as he holds his wife close. How I wish I could hold Kassandra.
I walk out on the balcony attached to my office and there are hundreds of wolves standing below looking up at me. I take a deep breath and try to put on my best Alpha voice. “Today I have brought home Kassandra, your future Luna…” they start to cheer, I put up my hands to silence them. “… She is in critical condition. James and Rebecca and a few rogue wolves held her captive and beat her badly.” My original pack member look angry and out for blood but those from James’ pack just looked confused and unsure what to do. “Rebecca is dead, but James escaped. We must focus all our efforts into finding him and putting a stop to him before he can hurt our pack again. I know that for those of you that were under him before the merge must be confused and I understand that but I remind you that the pack were merged and I am your Alpha now. I urge all of you to come forward if you have any information on James or his possible where abouts. I thank you all for coming and please spread the word to those who couldn’t be here. I will protect us all at all costs.” They look among each other and slowly start to gather. I walk back into my office and Chris has joined the party. “Good speech Elias.” He says trying to reassure me.
“I wish I didn’t have to give it. Chris I am going to need more guards on patrol, around the perimeter and on the ground. We will have four small offensive teams to go out and search but for now I would like to focus on the defense.” Chris nods and takes note. “Elias you should shower and try and get some rest. I am glad to have you back but as your beta and oldest friend, you look like shit.” He smirks. “I feel like s**t, but if something where to happen…” he cuts me off. “I will handle it like your Beta should. I look and notice the Kanes are gone. “Where are her parents?” I ask. “They had gone to wait at the hospital.” I nod in understanding. “Thank you, Chris.” I go to walk out of my office and stop at the door. With only a slight turn of my head I speak. “And Chris you are luck you are my friend; I don’t like to be interrupted.” I smirk at him and he smiled. “Noted Alpha, now go shower and rest I will get you when I hear from the hospital.”
I am glad I Chris as a beta he is very trustworthy and capable. I walk to my room and as soon as the door is shut all my weakness and emotion come through and it feels like lead. I drag myself to the bathroom and step into the shower turning the water on high, not letting my clothes stop me from trying to ease the pain with the scolding heat. All I can think about is Kassandra and I pray to the Moon Goddess to help heal Kassandra and bring her back to me. I would give anything.
