Enemies to lovers

Chapter 14

It's been a bit more then a month that Matty and I are together, for real. No one knows about the time we faked it, I didn't even tell Sarah.

I'm walking to school because he's sick today, it's getting pretty cold since we're in December. I text him to rest well with a kissing emoji right before entering the school. I go to my locker to get the books I need.

" So, you and Matt, huh? Pretty surprising."

I'm confused for who's talking, I close my locker and there's Jacob.

" What?"

" I'm just saying it's surprising that you and Matt have been together since a couple of months, and that you still are."

" And why is it?"

" Well because you used to be enemies, you couldn't stand each other."

" Well people change, don't they." I say in an obvious way.

" I sense you're not only talking about Matt."

" Wow, I thought you would've never guessed." I say sarcastically. How dare he even talk to me.

" I should go."

" No, wait Kathy, I wanted to tell you something."

" What is it?"

" That day, when we went out and you saw the messages, and you said that I took a bet to bring you out. Well it wasn't me that took that bet."

" What are you saying?"

" I'm saying I was just part of the plan, no offense but we knew that you had a crush on me and all and I didn't mind going on a date with you, but then Matt bet us that he could make you forget me and date him instead. If you don't believe me I have still have the messages. I guess he did it because you guys were still enemies or whatever, maybe he liked you and wanted to date you, I don't know. There, I just felt really guilty and I thought you should know."

I don't know what to say, this was all a trick? I feel tears in my eyes, I thank Jacob and run to the bathroom.

I don't know for how long I'm in there but after a while Sarah walks in screaming my name.

" Kathy, I know you're in here, Jake told me."

I open my doors and she wraps her arms around me.

" What happened to you?" I can't hold it in anymore, so I tell her everything, literally, all the stuff that happened since the beginning of the year.

" Wow. I had no idea, it really looked like you guys were together at the beginning of the year.

" Yeah well it was all fake. He tricked me. Even if we're really together now, it started off as a bet."

" Yeah that does suck. You have to go confront him pronto."

" Yeah, I was going to after school. I was gonna go to his house."

" Yes, and then you tell me everything, if you want to come the my place tonight, you can."

" I'm sorry I didn't tell you. But I was also so confused."

" It's OK, I understand."

We stay there a while longer then I go to class for the rest of the afternoon.
