Chapter 11

" So you must be Matt?"

" Yes. Nice to meet you."

" Likewise."

We sit at the table and my sister gives a flower to Matt.

" Well thank you very much." She blushes and sits at her spot.

" She likes you." I whisper to Matt. He smiles, as if flattered.

My mum brings us the dinner, thank god it isn't something new. She made fried chicken and some potatoes. Matt eats a lot. And my parents and him bond. I feel bad for lying, because he isn't my boyfriend and I didn't want to get our families involved.

We clear the table, even Matt helps, then we chat a little while my sister goes to bed. After a while Matt says " I think I'm going to go. It's getting late, and if you don't mind I wanted to bring Kathy for dessert."

" Um, well yes, no problem, just bring her back by eleven."

I was surprised because I didn't know he was planning this. So i put my shoes on, say bye and we're out the house.

" Were you planning on doing this?"

" Of course." I raise an eyebrow at him.

" Don't worry, as I said it's just dessert, and we're already here." We stop in front of a a small diner.

" Malady." he says while opening the doors for me.

We head in, sit down and order.

" So tell me, why haven't you ever had a boyfriend?" I blush, not expecting this question.

" No one was ever interested in me."

" Don't give me that, we both know that's not true."

" It is true." How did he know I was lying.

" I know you're lying, because when you do you look away and your nose starts twitching."

" That's not true." I cover my nose.

" Come on Kitty, you can tell me. It's written on the contract that we have to tell each other the truth." I don't remember putting that down but I still explain.

" Because I'm scared that if I get too close to someone, something will happen to them or I'll feel even more alone, just like when my parents died." I don't think he was expecting that, and i just slouch and stare at my feet tears in my eyes.

" Yeah, I understand. But not everyone will leave you, look at Sarah. And you'll find a boyfriend that will make you very happy and won't make you feel alone. And for now you have me, and I won't leave you." This makes me smile, he sits next to me and puts his arm around me, even if no one is around to see us, which is weird. We finish our desserts and head to my house.

" Tomorrow it's Saturday right?"

" Yes."

" Well I'm going to take you out on a real date. So be ready by 10am. I'll pick you up here."

I don't have time to say anything, and he just leaves. I'm happy he does before I say something stupid. I can't wait until tomorrow.
