Richard stopped in his tracks. She was about to gently remonstrate him when he said, ‘Hang on. What if Alvaro did kill Anna and did dispose of the body, and then someone else killed Alvaro?’
She grinned at him.
‘Richard, you are the perfect Watson! I believe you may be right. After all, he wasn’t at the restaurant or Fred would have said. It’s the only alternative if we are to dismiss the lads as suspects, assuming they had nothing to do with Alvaro’s death.’
‘Does add a layer of complexity, though. I mean, two killers.’
‘A most unusual situation.’
They resumed walking.
‘I’ve no idea how we’ll solve the mystery.’
‘What we need, Richard, is evidence.’
