WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMON. Chapter three Staring through the transparent wall, gripping on this phone on my ear. I keep clicking my tongue as I hear Nqaba update me. Obviously this means I'm angry with something, one of the things that he is telling me. I ended up dropping the phone call, I've heard enough. Nqaba telling me that Buhle is cheating on me makes me even more angry. I take off my coat feeling hot and I throw it on the couch. I pour whisky in glass and I sit on the desk sipping slowly trying to think clearly. I don't know whether to believe Nqaba with what he has told me about my wife, it just doesn't feel like her. No ways.. My phone vibrates then a message came through from my wife asking if I'm coming home tonight. I sigh, what if she's planning on going out with her friend and end up cheating on me. I just want to see if this is true. *no I'm not coming home* I reply Because of work yes I get stuck in my office with work overload. I'm doing this just to trick her, I'm just trying to see if it's true. “Mr Mabaso” Neli erupts in my office without even knocking I don't pay much attention to her, she's my younger sister. “Ufunani la?” I ask her She immediately stops and her smile drops instantly after that cold question. “And then?” she lowers her eyebrow in confusion “yini?” I ask irritated already “Wamuncu nje what happened?” she asks slowly making her way to the couch and place her small side bag. “You don't want to know” I respond “I wouldn't have asked” she says “Nelisa, you should be at school” I say looking at her She leans on her hip and gives me a bored look “I'm not in high school anymore. I mean I can do anything I want now” she says “And that is?” still looking at her She side smiles “Think of attending or not attending my classes. Today I felt tired so I decided to come check on my handsome brother” she says Neli is loud, very loud and annoying. But I love her because she's my sister and I am very protective of her and she knows it that's why she takes advantage of it. “And when I tell Mandisa about this, you'll be in tears” I say She rolls her eyes “Mxm your dreams” she says First of all she doesn't respect me as her older brother. Imagine having a younger sister treating you like you're her age. “I'll stop sending you pocket money ngoba ngathi usungijwayela kabi (because you seem to be getting used to me badly)” I say She closes her mouth and sits on the couch silently. I finish my whisky and go back to work... °°°°° I grabbed my coat and briefcase hurriedly rushing to the elevator. Nelisa had long left, it's 8pm exact on the dot and I'm rushing to get home while on the other side Nqaba is taking care of Miss Nxumalo not in that way but watching her for me. Since I'm the one who supposedly hit her with my car, I remember everything from head to toe what she was wearing. One thing that stood out, she wasn't looking great or normal it's like she was running away from something. I didn't mean to hurt her, I thank God she's alive and Nqaba just sent a message letting me know that Miss Nxumalo has gone out with her friend. She's getting fresh air, Nqaba has been watching her from a distant making sure she's good nobody bothers her. Parked my car in the garage and I stepped out with my briefcase. I begin walking to the main door and I walk in.... My wife isn't in the kitchen nor the living room where I'd find her watching all her favorite shows or read a magazine but today seems to be different. I walk upstairs to my bedroom, to quickly shower and rest a bit I've had a long day. As I am walking up, I hear soft moans and it just sounded like my wife. I rushed to check what was going on..... Felt my heart tear apart, and she just stayed in bed looking frightened even the man that she's with just froze looking dumb. I didn't even waste my time I just turned and walked back downstairs.. As I rush my way out “Kwenzo! ”Buhle shouts my name .. I took my car keys and got in the car, just drove away. I'm not as broken as I should be but it kind of hurts, I'd really use a drink right now, I called Sphethelo and Khanya over to my apartment. They are my friends. I screamed out loud, felt my veins pop up I knew that I was getting angry. I punched the wall couple times til my fingers bled.. How could she do this to me?!, how could she! Those questions kept ringing in mind like why.. SINDISIWE It hasn't been that long since Swazi and I have arrived in here but I'm already wasted dancing by myself feeling the song. I'm totally wasted..it feels like I'm drinking my problems away. I took a break and sat back with my friend she's drinking bernini “I needed this” I say “What do you mean?” she asks “Yazi, my mother keeps pressuring me. She wants me to get back with Manzini for the sake of Nkanyiso” I say She looked at me in disbelief “Your mom pho? Are you serious?” she asks I nod, I feel a bit emotional “I don't understand mngani. Like she knows what I've been through with that man but she still wants me to get back with me” I explain Swazi shakes her head “No” she says “Shes crazy. That man didn't know how to treat you right let him not hold you down” she says I sigh “I'm tired though. Tired of fighting, of thinking that I'm over it when everytime he comes around it comes back to haunt me” I say “Maybe you need therapy” she says “I just dont need him around my son for him to expose his cruelty. That man broke me Swazi, not only heart my soul Swazi” not me starting to tear up “Aw baby mahn. Let's not talk about it” she says rubbing my back gently I drop my face in my arms and fold. I just don't understand why me...
