After swapping phone numbers and talking for a couple of weeks Ellie agreed to meet up with him. Dominic had his dad drive him down to Doncaster town centre.
Ellie was nervous, she was hoping that it wouldn’t be awkward, she knew he wasn’t a catfish due to them FaceTiming each other quite a few times over the past couple of weeks, she just hoped that he was the funny man she spoke to all these weeks and that he was trying to be someone different. She wanted his personality to be the same.
As he got out of the car with a bunch of flowers and a Terrys chocolate orange Ellie couldn’t help but smile, but she still had a bit of anxiety hoping it would all be ok.
As he walked over towards her she noticed he kept a hold of his jeans with his spare hand, making her raise her eyebrows confused. “I forgot to put my belt on” Dom explained making her laugh, of course he forgot his belt, but that one comment made all her worries go away, he was still the same man she’d been speaking to.
“I guess we have to go get you a belt then” she smiled at him before her smile grew wider as he passed over the bunch of flowers and chocolate. “These are for you, I remember you saying that was on of your favourite chocolates”
Ellie could honestly say that she felt butterfly’s, something she’s never felt before in her 24 years of life, it was new and she liked it.
After finally getting Dom a belt they decided to go get a couple of drinks before going somewhere for food. Dom ordered himself a pint and Ellie two desperado as they was on a deal. Ellie wasn’t complaining, it was she always drank when she was there due to it been cheaper to have two bottles instead of one. They got a seat in a private booth so they could talk, also because Ellie was worried she’d see someone she knew and they’d want her to stay out drinking. Ellie didn’t want to ruin today, she wanted to see where it would go between her and Dom, from what she knew already she liked him.
“This seems like one of your locals” Dom spoke as they sat down making her sigh, she’d told him about her been out every weekend she just didn’t want him to think she had a problem with drinking all the time. “Yeah. I told you I’m usually out round town on a Saturday night. Well this is where me and my friends start our nights” Ellie explained with a shrug of her shoulders as she took a drink.
They carried on talking before deciding to go to get some food, they didn’t realise the time it was already tea time they’d enjoyed spending time together they lost track of time.
Everywhere they went was packed so they decided to go to McDonald’s for something to eat which was quite funny as Dom was weirded out how it was two levels not one like they are in Scunthorpe.
They both enjoyed their Big Mac meals together and spending time together, before they decided to walk around for a bit before his dad came to pick him up.
Ellie didn’t want the night to end but she knew he had to go back home, she’d enjoyed spending time with him and getting to know him even more, it wasn’t awkward at all between them, if anything Ellie felt like she’d known him her whole life.
They got along so well, she got his stupid jokes just like he got hers, Ellie felt like this could actually go somewhere.
As he got a messaged from his dad saying they’re five minuites away they made there way to meet him where he dropped Dom off, Ellie didn’t think anything of it and had no worries as she was right next to the bus station so she could go get her bus straight after and get home, but Doms mum and dad had other ideas, they decided to drop her off home as they didn’t want her to get a bus when it was dark, but Ellie felt bad as she didn’t want them to go out of their way, which they insisted that it was fine.
That’s when Ellie’s nerves came, she was going in to a car with her potential boyfriends parents, she didn’t want them to judge her because she’s had a couple of drinks, yes she was sober but she didn’t want them to think bad of her and warn their son to stay away.
Thankfully it was all ok, they tried to get to know her on the short journey back to her house. The first question they asked was if she had any children which she replied honestly with no. They seemed like nice people they even invited her down to there house the following weekend, which Ellie agreed to.
Ellie would get the train down and Dom would meet her at the train station due to her not knowing where they lived also because she’s never been to Scunthorpe before and she didn’t want to get lost.
As she walked back into her mums house with a smile on her face that wouldn’t go away he mum was sag in the porch having a fag which Ellie soon joined her explaining how the date went.
“By the smile on your face I’m guessing it went good” Ellie nodded to her mum. “It’s weird mum, I feel like I’ve known him my whole life, we got on so well and we got each other silly jokes. You don’t even get my silly jokes” Ellie explained making her mum chuckle a little because it was true when Ellie came out with one of her witty silly jokes her mum just stared at her confused.
Her mum helped her organise her flowers in to a flower pot vase before Ellie went to have a bath and wipe the day grime away.
When she was out she checked her phone to see a missed call and a text message from Dominic.
‘I’m home. I had a good day today, hopefully you’ll still come to mine next weekend’
Ellie couldn’t help the smile that came to her face, as she replied.
‘Sorry I was in the bath, and I’ll be there waiting to meet you at the train station. Don’t worry. I had a good day today, thank you for it all and the flowers and chocolate’
Ellie got dressed into some pyjamas before getting ready to relax for the night, once again it was a completely different Saturday night for Ellie and she was loving it all.
