Looking back on everything Ellie wasn’t proud of who she was becoming, she knew something needed to change. Yes, she stopped taking drugs and drinking every weekend, but she didn’t like how she was now sleeping with people she wasn’t in a relationship with.
Coming to this realisation she declined the offer of going out that night and decided to have a night on her PlayStation. It was a completely different kind of Saturday night to what she had been living these past couple of months.
Half way through a game, her phone vibrated indicating she had a message which she didn’t look at until the game was over. It was a message from the tinder app.
‘Hi, can I just say you look beautiful’
Ellie couldn’t control the smile before going on to look at their profile to remind herself what they looked like. They looked good from their pictures making her reply back, she knew that if it went anywhere she wouldn’t allow it to be just about s*x, she wanted a real relationship.
‘You don’t look to bad either from your pictures’ Ellie replied before going back to her game.
They messaged back and forth all night trying to get to know each other, Ellie learnt that his name was Dominic but he liked to be called Dom, she also learnt that he had a son from a previous relationship, but currently had no contact due to the mother denying him any, Ellie could tell that it was a messy situation, but she didn’t want to let his ex ruin what could possibly be between them.
Ellie told him how she was a qualified hairdresser and was currently living with her mum due to coming out of a 7 year relationship a year ago and left her ex with their previously joint flat.
They found out that they lived an half an hour train journey from each other, Ellie living in Doncaster, Dom living in Scunthorpe, which wasn’t too far and it gave them both chance to slowly get to know each other and build up that relationship, if they was to have one.
They stayed up until the early hours just messaging each other, Ellie realised he was someone she could easily talk to, it took a while for her to understand what he was writing due to him having dyslexia but that didn’t bother her, having dyslexia didn’t define him.
Ellie knew she had to go to sleep when it was 2am but she didn’t want to end the conversation, they was just talking about random stuff but it was nice for her to get to know him, eventually she did fall asleep but she was excited to speak to him when she woke up.
Everything was starting to turn around for Ellie, and she was liking it. Ellie’s mum could see a difference in her, including with her not going out on the weekend it was a good change.
