For five years, Diana has been hopelessly in love with the one man she should never want: her best friend's father, Lucien Blackwell.

Keeping her feelings hidden was difficult, but she managed. Until the day she learned he was finally ready to settle down with another woman.

Desperate and terrified of losing him forever, Diana confesses the secret she has guarded for years, only to be rejected and dismissed as a young girl with an impossible crush.

But Diana refuses to walk away.

Determined to make Lucien see her as a woman and not his daughter's best friend, she sets out to prove that age, society, and their complicated connection cannot stop what she feels.

The more he tries to resist her, the harder it becomes to ignore the attraction growing between them.

Can Lucien continue denying the woman who has loved him for years, or will he risk everything for a relationship that could destroy both their worlds?

Chapter 1: The Only Man I Love
"Come in, Diana," Zoe said excitedly as she dragged my suitcase inside. I forced a smile, tightening my grip on my phone as I stepped inside, my gaze completely fixed on Mr. Blackwell. My heart was pounding so hard I could feel it in my ears. For five years, I'd had a massive crush on my best friend's single dad. It all started when I was sixteen. He stood up for me in front of my parents, telling them I was a special child and that they should be building me up, not breaking me apart. Back then, I thought it was just a childish fantasy. When my parents decided to move from New York to Mexico City, I believed it was finally over. But after the tragic accident last month, the one that claimed both their lives, Zoe, my best friend, invited me back to New York to help clear my head and cope with their loss. Seeing Mr. Blackwell again awakened everything I had buried for five long years. Feelings I thought were long gone came rushing back, stronger than ever. And to make matters worse, he had become even more handsome. He's forty-six now, yet somehow looks no older than thirty. Sometimes I couldn't help but wonder if he was some kind of vampire from those fantasy movies because he never seemed to age. He stood on the staircase wearing that charming smile of his, a phone pressed to his ear. He seemed to be on an important call, but his eyes never left mine. "Just wait. My daddy is on a call with his girlfriend," Zoe giggled. "Diana, you won’t believe it — my dad is finally settling down." My entire world shattered. It took everything in me not to let the tears fall. Mr. Blackwell was finally settling down? After almost twenty years of being a single father, why now? That wasn’t fair. "What’s wrong, Diana? I told you I’m finally going to have a stepmother. She’s super sweet and beautiful and…" Zoe paused, playfully shoving my shoulder, "she even knows how to make our favorite dish."She giggled happily. To hell with favorite dishes. I don’t like her. I don’t want her here. Honestly, I would have preferred screaming it out loud. "Alright, Phoebe, I'll talk to you later," Mr. Blackwell said softly before hanging up. His expression shifted to that warm, gentle side of him, the one that had made me fall head over heels. "Look who we have here. My darling little Diana," he said, spreading his arms wide for me to run into his embrace, just as I had always done when I was a child. But I'm not a child anymore. And something about the fact that he was finally moving on made a heavy weight settle in my chest. I didn't move. I just stared at him with suppressed anger. His brow furrowed in confusion as both he and Zoe stared at me in disbelief. "What's wrong, Diana? Won't you hug my dad?" Zoe asked, touching my arm. I blinked several times and swallowed hard. "Mr. Blackwell, I'm no longer little Diana," I blurted out, avoiding his gaze. "What the hell?" Zoe burst into laughter, clamping a hand over her mouth as she stared at me in disbelief. Mr. Blackwell raised a hand in surrender and sighed dramatically. "Forgive me, my angel... Big Diana." He winked playfully and gestured for me to come over and hug him. I bit my lower lip, unable to ignore how charming he looked saying those words. I quickly rushed into his embrace. God. He smelled so good. I wanted to drown in that scent. I pressed my face against his hard chest, breathing him in. His arms tightened around me. He wasn’t pulling away. Was he enjoying this too? The thought that he might feel something for me made my heart race wildly. "Oh, that’s enough, you two," Zoe said, interrupting us with a playful groan. I quickly pulled back, shyly tucking my hair behind my ear, my pulse still racing. Mr. Blackwell cleared his throat and ran a hand along his jaw, avoiding my eyes. "Diana, you won't believe it. My dad couldn't control his excitement when I told him you were finally coming over," Zoe announced. My breath caught as I looked back at Mr. Blackwell. He cleared his throat again, silently telling her to stop talking. She quickly zipped her lips dramatically. I couldn’t stop the small smile that spread across my face. Was he really happy to see me too? "You girls should catch up. I’ll be right back," he said calmly before walking out. My eyes shamelessly followed him, tracing the way his suit hugged his broad shoulders, strong thighs, and powerful arms. Gosh. He looked like a Greek god. "Hey." Zoe's voice pulled me from my thoughts. I swallowed and turned to her. She was standing by the staircase, urging me to come upstairs. I nodded quickly and followed her. She insisted we share a room because she wanted to tell me everything about her university life and expected me to do the same. "Come on, we've talked about everything on the phone all these years. What else do you want to know?" I groaned in frustration as I collapsed onto the bed. She walked over and flopped down beside me. "Yeah, I know we've talked about everything, but I want to hear about your first time. You know, I didn't tell you... I'm no longer a virgin. I lost it two days ago to my sweet boyfriend." She blurted out covering her face while kicking her legs excitedly in the air. My eyes widened in shock. "What the heck?" I screamed, sitting upright as I stared at her in disbelief. Honestly, I wasn't really surprised. We were already twenty-one. I didn't expect her to remain a virgin forever. The only reason I was still one was because I wanted to give it to one man. Mr. Blackwell. Her father. And, of course, I would make it happen.
