Indus, Northern Arvayarta,
Charmeine is sitting on a wooden chair. She's watching her surroundings with great pride and happiness. From the house she made, to the flower seeds down to the plants she planted in front and back of her house, it made her heart shout for joy.
“This is the beauty and stillness I have long been waiting for. The freshness of air, the calmness of surrounding, the smell of trees, and the feeling of solitude with joyful heart. I only hope that no one would dare to disturb the peace I wanted in this place.”
As she closes her eyes, she wishes for a lifetime happiness and seclusion in the Indus. It is the remotest and secluded place in Arvayarta that belongs to Pune Kingdom. The place she had long been wanted to stay. A place where she hopes that no one would annoy her or pass by her house.
“But what if, a demon suddenly enters my territory? I have long known that this is the only place where angels and demons promised themselves to not bother each other anymore. I have seen and heard it with my eyes and ears a long, long time ago.”
Charmeine knew that the Indus was the place where demons and angels cannot step in to each other's territory. But, she dared to defy the King of Angel's words. She made her decision to stay in that place and whoever walks into her place will surely regret it. As far as she could remember, the place where she was sitting and where her house is standing was once a battlefield and also the oath taking ceremony of promise between angels and demons.
“I'd like to propose a pact for you, Demon King,” Angel King said to his opponent.
“And what is that?” Demon King answered in a question was.
“Let's stop this war and make an oath that this land I named Indus will be the sole witness of my sincerity to not disturb your kingdom ever again,” Angel King was looking at the Demon King's eyes with sincerity.
“If that's what you want, I can agree to that. I'll create a long burned mark line right from where I stood!” Demon King immediately poured out fire from his mouth and burned the ground until the line was created. “Now, it's done, Angel King. I want you to keep your promise.”
“Allow me to give you an answer using my flame sword, Demon King,” Angel King thrust out his fiery sword and swung it to the burned mark line the Demon King has created. “I'm done too, but wait. Allow me to say one final warning, Belzebub.”
“Shoot. I'm all ears,” Belzebub move forward without stepping out the line he created.
“Whoever steps into this line will be killed,” he said without changing his stare to the Demon King.
“That won't be necessary. I can handle my men. But, I'd like to also set an expectation to you, Raphael,” Belzebub move another one meter closer, almost kissing the Angel King, then whispered what he wants. “Angels will never set foot to my place. And if they did, I'll break their wings and burn them into pieces.”
Charmeine recalled those conversations between the king of angel, Raphael, and Belzebub, the Demon King, in the same spot she was sitting. The Indus serves as both the barrier and as a pact of their promises.
“That's one memory I hated to remember. I guess I have to compose another melody using my favorite harp.”
She keeps on sitting while the freshness of air engulfs and embraces her. Charmeine the raises her right hand and called her magic harp.
“Strings of love,
Melody of my soul,
My harp, my love,
appear with me, Harmonica!”
After chanting those words, a ray of light coming from the sky instantly drops and fall onto Charmeine's hand. The thing she called Harmonica changed immediately into a Harp full of strings with cherubs on its edges.
“I miss you, Harmonica. Now, let's sing and play our tunes.”
She played Harmonica's strings slowly and the sound of it began echoing the surrounding area. Then, Charmeine started singing a song she promptly translated in her mind.
As flowers blooms,
As leaves swaying,
A love for you,
I keep on waiting.
I know it's hard,
To live alone,
But what's matter is,
I love this song.
Na na na na
La la la la.
Da da da da.
Ra ra ra ra.
To you, I'll wait.
As mountains soar,
As skies are blue,
The water's roar,
When I'm with you.
How can I leave?
If I'm alone?
Waiting for you,
Until I bloom.
Da da da da.
Na na na na.
Ra ra ra ra.
La la la la.
…
UNKNOWN to Charmeine, a shadow invisibly hiding from afar, standing from the trunks of the tallest tree, saw her. Her song was heard, and the shadow loves the voice coming from her. It echoes deep into the shadow's heart and soul that made him played in his mind the beautiful and soulful lyrics of the unknown song.
As flowers blooms,
As leaves swaying,
A love for you,
I keep on waiting.
I know it's hard,
To live alone,
But what's matter is,
I love this song.
Na na na na
La la la la.
Da da da da.
Ra ra ra ra.
To you, I'll wait.
As mountains soar,
As skies are blue,
The water's roar,
When I'm with you.
How can I leave?
If I'm alone?
Waiting for you,
Until I bloom.
Da da da da.
Na na na na.
Ra ra ra ra.
La la la la.
The shadow keeps on singing it inside its head. While its eyes closes, its heart shout for joy. The shadow keeps on humming and follow the rhythm of the song Charmeine played, making it composed responding to what the beauty has spoken.
Your voice is sweet,
How can I resist?
The melody,
Who will hate?
I like your voice,
I love your song,
If I can stay,
It would be long.
Do do do do.
Ra ra ra ra.
Na na na na.
La la la la.
I want to see,
You personally.
I want to know,
Such rare beauty.
I know it's quick,
But I don't care.
I fell for you,
I hope, you, too.
Dum dum dum dum.
Ra ra ra ra.
Na na na na na.
La la la la.
“I'll wait until it's time for me to show myself in front of you. You are the reason I left my kingdom for a while, and now that I am here, I'll make sure you fall in love with me.”
The shadow just watches her from afar. As he said those words in its mind, it made himself hungry for more of Charmeine's existence in the Indus.
