The aftermath of Enkōō’s rooftop battle leaves scorched concrete and scorched air. He sits, breath ragged, still shaken by the voice and vision from his inner world. Aoi Mizunashi stands before him, her water blade lowered but ready. She warns him: the resonance he began with the Flame King’s soul could consume him if he doesn’t stay in control.
Aoi recalls her past at the Underwater Temple, kneeling before flowing statues and elemental seals, trained to end the Flame King’s reincarnation. Yet, Enkōō resisted. He controlled the fire instead of being consumed, defying the prophecy. Perhaps he is something else entirely.
Far beneath a mountain, a figure with lightning markings pierces a training dummy. Rai Tsukikage, seventeen, silver-haired with lightning eyes, smirks as he learns of Enkōō’s awakening: “Good. Now it begins.”
That night, Enkōō gazes into a flickering candle. The flame shifts blue, and the inner voice whispers, “Burning is not destruction. It’s transformation.” He feels the weight of destiny but refuses to be merely a vessel.
The next day, Aoi secretly hands him an ancient book, warning him of the Guardians of Balance and the Hunters. And when a new transfer student, Kaito Sōma, appears, the real danger begins.
At night, knives whirl toward him, and fire ignites in Enkōō’s arms.
