The Surprise Mate

Chapter 1 Aubrey POV My name is Aubrey Black. I will be eighteen in two days. My parents are so excited, because on that day my wolf will awaken. At that time I will also be able to sense my mate, and he will be able to sense me. I am more excited to meet my wolf than I am about finding my mate. I think I am too young to be that serious about someone else. I could not wait to meet my wolf. I have always wondered about her. What would she sound like in my head? What would she look like? How big would she be? The size of a wolf depends on your bloodline. Take me for instance, I am the daughter of an Alpha, my mother is also the daughter of an Alpha. Therefore I have a full Alpha bloodline. My parents want me to meet my mate, get married and have pups. I am only seventeen, I don't want to even think about pups right now, let alone getting married. My parents are throwing me a big party for my birthday, they say it is to celebrate me getting my wolf, but i know better. They have invited the two neighboring packs, the Silver Moon pack and the Black Moon pack. My dad and the Alpha of Silver Moon pack are best friends, so naturally that pack is our closest ally. I have only hear of the Black Moon pack a couple of times and that is only because the Alpha of that pack is my age, the youngest Alpha in centuries. He has proposed to my parents that he be my chosen mate and husband. Thank the Moon Goddess that they said no. I do not know much about him other than what i have heard. Rumor has it that he challenged and killed his father to be Alpha. His father was said to be a cruel and vicious man. It is said that he had beaten his Luna to death for giving birth to a girl, then he killed the baby. His son who was sixteen at the time, found his mother and baby sister dead. He challenged his father that day and killed him, then took his place as Alpha. As far as I know all of that is just rumors, but he still scares me. My parents invited his pack to my party to try and ease the tension after they refused to give me to him as his chosen bride and mate. The thought of being in the same room with him makes my skin crawl. My dad said that I have to be nice and respectful, even though he is my age he is still an Alpha and must be respected. Not doing so can cause a conflict between the packs, so I must be on my best behavior. It will be difficult because of how uncomfortable I will be in his presence, but I will try my best, for the sake of my family and my pack. I just want that day to be over now, because i know he will be there, I don't want him to see me shift. I think it will make him even more obsessed with having me as his chosen mate. He has made it clear publicly that he will not accept the mate the mate the Moon Goddess has chosen for him, he only wants me. I do not understand why, he has only seen me once and that was in passing at my parents' anniversary party. That was the day he asked my parents to give me to him, but they said no, on the grounds that I did not even know him. I would need to be the one to decide if I would forsake the mate that the Moon Goddess has chosen for me. My answer was a definite no. I was somewhat offended by the request, not only because he wanted to forsake our respective mates, but because he went to my parents on their anniversary. Rather than brining his request to my attention, he went to my parents. That was so disrespectful to me and my parents. It is no wonder why they said no to him. He was so angry, that when he was leaving he told my parents that he would have me as his mate and bride one way or another. I heard him say that and I immediately hid so he would not see me. I was so scared, I can not fight him off he tries to grab me. I did not come out until I heard my parents calling frantically for me.
