Chapter 6: The Wealthy Bald Old Darling Probably fearing she might suffocate Leo Orlando under the pillow, after venting her anger, Lilith Douglas moved the pillow aside. Looking at Leo Orlando's flushed face, she felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction. It was cathartic. After eating, Lilith Douglas went to school. The Orlando family's doctor, Ian Camilla, had just finished his routine check-up on Leo Orlando and was coming down from the second floor with his medical bag when he ran into Wade Orlando. "Mr. Fei, not going to the company today?" Ian Camilla greeted with a smile. Wade Orlando, the illegitimate son of the Orlando family, was only acknowledged by the patriarch shortly before his death. Despite being only a few years older than Leo Orlando, he was a generation apart. Glancing upstairs, Wade Orlando asked with a smile, "How is my nephew doing? He's been in bed for half a year; don't tell me he won't wake up?" Ian Camilla shook his head, his expression heavy with worry. "It's hard to say. You know, severe comas are practically vegetative states. It's not uncommon for them to never regain consciousness." Wade Orlando felt a bit relieved. "Miracles do happen. If you have time, Dr., let's grab a coffee." Checking his watch, Ian Camilla replied, "I'm afraid I can't today. Another time, I'll treat you." "Then I won't keep you, I'll see you out." In the classroom at H University, Lilith Douglas had dozed off again, but she hadn't missed any of the lecture, which made Trista Felix, who was also in class, quite envious. "How does your brain work so well? Did you get it blessed or something?" Stretching and yawning, Lilith Douglas replied, "Yeah, the monk who blessed it was called 'Forget Self.'" As she packed her books and got ready to leave, Trista Felix, with a gossipy look, asked, "You haven't been to school recently; did you go get married?" Lilith Douglas gave her a look that said, "You already know the answer." Undeterred, Trista Felix pressed on, "How does it feel to marry someone in a coma? Do you think he’ll wake up if he gets excited about getting married?" Lilith Douglas rolled her eyes, annoyed. "Do you think this is a TV drama where people wake up from excitement? If he wakes up, I'm the one who's dead." "Dead from happiness?" Poking Trista Felix's forehead, Lilith Douglas retorted, "Scared to death, dummy." "By the way, was it someone from the Orlando family who dropped you off today?" "It was the Orlando family's butler, Harvey." "Being a young madam isn't bad. You even have a butler to pick you up and drop you off. So enviable," Trista Felix said, laughing. "Yeah, sure." Lilith Douglas shot her a big eye roll. The limited-edition luxury car that drove into the campus today had drawn a lot of attention. Those who knew Lilith Douglas's background were already buzzing with gossip. Trista Felix had heard several versions, making her want to punch someone. "Victoria Hubbard and her gang are saying you hooked some rich, bald old man to escape poverty." Victoria Hubbard always tried to compete with Lilith Douglas, spreading rumors about her, but Lilith Douglas didn't care. "Let them think I have a rich, bald old man." "Why should they get to decide what's true? Next time I hear it, I’ll give her a piece of my mind." Lilith Douglas's grandfather was one of the three tigers of H City. She was a genuine heiress. Even though she was sent to the countryside after her mother's death, a true heiress would always return, and she would reclaim what was rightfully hers. Victoria Hubbard, on the other hand, was solely focused on climbing the social ladder.
