Chapter 5: That Impetuous Temper Needs Some Taming She tossed the pillow carelessly, but it landed squarely on Leo Orlando's head with a thud. Harvey was startled and put down the milk, rushing over to check on Leo Orlando. "Young Madam, please be more careful. If you hurt Young Master, what will we do?" Lilith Douglas hadn't expected her throw to be so accurate. "Sorry, I... didn't see him." "You must be more cautious in the future. Young Master is already ill; if he gets injured again, it would be very bad. You need to change this rash behavior of yours." "Understood." Lilith Douglas took Harvey's stern advice to heart. So, after he left, she took out her silver needles and pricked every possible acupoint on Leo Orlando that might wake him up. Even if it didn't work, at least she could vent her frustration. On her first day, she had been scolded by a butler. How could there be any good days ahead? After venting, Lilith Douglas fell asleep, her head tilted to one side. In the morning, before Lilith Douglas woke up, Harvey entered with a basin of hot water. He placed the water and poured a cup of mouthwash, standing respectfully by the bed. "Young Madam, it's time to help Second Young Master wash up." Harvey's voice was like a death knell, jolting Lilith Douglas from her dream. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the old man with his white beard. "How did you get in here?" "Every day at this time, Young Master needs to wash up. So, I brought the water for washing and rinsing." Harvey stood as respectfully as an old dog. Lilith Douglas, seeing his evasive response, didn't bother to argue. "Then you do it." Harvey didn't move, still standing in place. "Madame said that from now on, taking care of Young Master is your responsibility, Young Madam." With so many servants, why did it have to be her? This wasn't being a young madam; it was being a servant. "Then leave." This time, Harvey complied and disappeared instantly. Lilith Douglas went to the bathroom, grabbed a wet towel, and, full of resentment, slapped it onto Leo Orlando's face. Slap, slap, she then sat on him, pinning down his arms, and roughly wiped his face. Her actions were crude and forceful. Under the blanket, the man's fingertips twitched imperceptibly. Just then, Tabitha Haywood walked in and saw this. She rushed to Lilith Douglas, horrified. "Why are you sitting on him? Are you wiping his face or mopping the floor? It will hurt him." Tabitha Haywood tenderly removed the towel from Leo Orlando's face and gently cleaned his face and hands. Then she instructed Lilith Douglas, "It's my fault. I should have taught you how to take care of Huanshen before letting you do it yourself." Tabitha Haywood's reprimand made Lilith Douglas feel resentful. Why did everyone keep lecturing her, criticizing her for not doing well? If they thought they could do better, let them do it. But since she was under their roof, she had to lower her head. "I'm sorry, Mother." "You haven't served anyone before. In the future, I'll show you how to do everything properly, and then you can learn." Although Tabitha Haywood's tone was gentle, her expression was not pleasant. Lilith Douglas responded with a noncommittal "Oh." After Tabitha Haywood left, Lilith Douglas threw a pillow at Leo Orlando's face and began to grumble. "What's the big deal about washing a face? What's so painful about it? Men have thick skin; it's not like you can peel off a layer, right?" "Hmph, even though I, Lilith Douglas, haven't had many good days, I've never been a servant. If it weren't for my mother's house and my brother, I wouldn't be serving you, this living corpse." "Wipe, wipe, wipe. Next time, I'll use chili oil. Let's see if you like that."
