I got to my apartment minutes later. I had a bath, did my hair and makeup ,and I was all set. My sister and I shared a two bedroom apartment in the outskirts of Backbay, Boston. I dialed her number immediately to let her know I was going to spend the night at Toby’s, when she didn’t respond I decided to stick a note on the fridge.
Macy and I were identical twins, while Macy had a more unwrinkled face, I had freckles on my face and a darker hair color than her, other than that we looked kinda the same.
It’s so funny how we shared the same womb and facial features but were so different entirely. Macy was a social butterfly and she had tons of friends. She had this wonderful Charisma and energy that everyone wanted to be her friend . She was the queen bee in high school and I was always the unpopular twin; not that I took offense in that anyway, unlike my sister I didn’t love attention and recognition. I wasn’t a narcissist.
I loved my privacy and I had my reservations in a lot of things.
Applying my dark shade of red lipstick the last time, I decided I was ready to leave for Toby’s house. Since my Car was bad I took a cab there, it was 10pm by the time I arrived at his building
I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t even care to call me on a significant day like this, I knew it had to do with the antique shop and I totally understood; but still I couldn’t hide my disappointment.
Getting to his door, I rang the bell. No answer.
I stood there for a few minutes before deciding to call his phone, but I didn't get any response.
I was beginning to get worried, Toby never acted like this even in his worse days. He would never ignore me or forget an important day like this.
I remembered I had the keys to his apartment so I just decided to get in and set the table for dinner first, my hands were beginning to hurt since I was carrying a lot.
When I got into the house I knew immediately that someone was definitely home because I heard voices. My heart sank immediately and If anxiety could kill it must have killed me because I was becoming more and more anxious which each step I took closer to Toby’s room.
The sounds were coming from there and it was a sound of s****l pleasure, my heart broke immediately and tears welled up in my eyes
My poor heart
I could have decided to leave and pretend like I was never here in the first place but I was so curious to see things for myself.
I stood closely in front of the door trying to muster up the courage to open the door, my apprehensions were building up in each passing second.
I finally twisted the door knob and the sight before me brought me to my knees, I let out a scream of anguish.
My heart will be forever broken.
