Fiona Turns into a Mermaid

As everyone knows kids can be very imaginative and believe in anything like leprechauns, fairies, and mermaids. I must have been an interesting kid as I look back and remember how I told my parents and older sister that I saw a mermaid; they thought I was playing some game or a joke, after all I was 8/9 years old-that's an age that kids go through a phase which is believing in old fantasies and myths. It was a normal day walking on a beach, then I found this alcove-cave like thing which was also connected to the beach and of course beach too ocean. Anyway I went swimming there-it was amazing see it as a big pool, but with beautiful wildlife around. Came up for air because I thought I saw something, went back underneath and I saw a mermaid! Told my parents and as I got said before they thought it was a game or joke so every day for a couple of years I went back too that spot, but I never saw her, that mermaid again. I turned 14 a few days ago and well that mermaid never came back so I stopped looking and started to believe it was my imagination. One day I found a necklace-nothing like other necklaces just string and a pearl with some type of writing on it; I found it near the alcove/cave, I looked around and no one was there to claim it so I put it on. It wasn't very long that I noticed that I was looking for it- the necklace and then, poof! I was lying on the sand/ground with a tail!! Thankfully I didn't need to drag myself to the beach, got in for like a few minutes then this strong current pulled me near the alcove-cave and then turned into a small whirl pool with me in it. Suddenly out of nowhere a mermaid appeared in front of me in it-the whirl pool. Yes I said mermaid, well that's what I think that's a proper name for a person with a tail with no legs, but I could be wrong, right, but then again I was obsessed with mermaids for years. Is this what happens when you are-were obsess with mermaids? She said 'No need to fear for your life, this happens when someone finds and puts on the pearl necklace; like yourself they turn into mermaids. I am the one who welcomes and answer any questions the new mermaids have, my name is Veronica.' Well Veronica seems nice and kind, she must be doing this for years or longer. Now it's my turn to talk. 'Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Fiona. May I ask, but when can I go home to my parents? I mean I love this always dreamed of becoming one it's just that my parents would be worried.' I guess she was surprised when I said parents after all her response was this or close to it. ' I'm sorry, but you can't return not till a year later-that is you'll be in disguise, you see when a family member see you as a mermaid or recognize you in disguise, you'll die and that pearl necklace stays behind, wash ashore for the next person. As for your parents I left a note telling them that you ran away from home that it looks like it was written from you, ok.' Now then I'm taking you too school for new/beginner mermaids. You see mermaids have many magical powers they just have to learn how to do and control them. This is where you'll be at for a year mostly-school you and others will be working on disguise. Trust me when I say you're not the youngest we've had, our youngest was eight, but that was nearly twenty years ago. I know you're worried where you're going to stay don't worry I'll take care of that, so I'll get back to you soon as possible. Ok here we are your school and here's some water proof books, notebooks/papers anything that you need for beginner school although few of the books is/can be fun reading. Oh I almost forgot your classroom is right here, some classrooms can be filled others need more student, but each classroom teach the same thing accept ones in the distant over there, two floors the first floor is has advanced and the second floor has intermediate students. This school has classrooms on each floor with few rooms (dorm rooms) for students, there's not enough for all so we pair them up in the rooms, sadly all the rooms are filled so we ask the older mermaids that's in advance and intermediate or out of school to house the (beginners) new mermaid students.' So we went into the classroom, she introduced me and then Veronica left, I went and sat on a rock thing-it's shaped like a desk. We learned basic stuff such as: talking to aquatic animals, that we can still talk under water after shape shifting into our human self, although we didn't try not yet later on; mostly we read our water proof book pages/chapters that our teacher gave us; it's like a normal school-somewhat. Mer-school let out finally, but I have some chapters to read as homework and still don't know where to stay yet. So I stayed in my classroom reading until Veronica came too get me, but by the time she did I read all the chapters plus a few extra chapters. Seems that I'll be staying with my teacher, Grace. I guess that's good any questions I have about homework, class etc. I can ask her. Grace showed me my room, nice size I guess this kind of thing happened before or that every mermaid/man has a spare bedroom or two plus their room. Few hours passed then Grace asked me if I had a chance to read any of the chapters that she gave out for homework. Of course I told her that I read them and a little ahead, that I was still waiting for Veronica and started reading. Only three chapters didn't seem like many pages between chapters. My teacher and host seemed impressed yet suspicious so she gave I the test/quiz that I was gonna take tomorrow. Didn't take long to complete or grade, got an A, so Grace, my teacher told/gave me more homework-just more chapters to read (4-7). Finally finished, went to bed. The bed is this big shell with this...seaweed like quilt, but comfortable to sleep in. The next day went back to school, well Merschool everyone had a test including me accept mine was on chapters 4-7. After we finished we had to get reading the next chapters for me I opened my book with a note 'do chapters 8-10.' I got to chapter nine and half way through when I got my test back another A. thing is I'm good at school-I love learning school and learning any subject, this is sort of the same just a little different. After school went to my temporary home took another quiz, another A, went to the next book read chapters 1-6,another quiz that night-got an A, went to bed. Like any weekend school was out, so I read six more chapters, had a test, an A on it. Instead of going to the next book I went out swimming with my guardian, Grace we went shopping for grocery, got some hair stuff for me such as: hairpins, scrunches', and yes some shampoo, I also got some mixing bowls and ingredients. The second school book dealt with potions, so I'm going work on potions, and I also I got a job at the merlibrary-putting books away and writing book title s down underneath the person's name. Instead of staying home Grace made me go out and explore more, maybe make friends, so I went to this Ocean Fast Food place hanged out at the mall like the human world, but mermaids-well the experienced ones can make everything they get from the human world water proof. Didn't make any friends today; well went home to Grace and hit the book for school, read all of it and got A's on all three quizzes even though it felt...ugh. Grace told me that Veronica wants to see me, when Veronica is done that I should go/come too class for my last book. So Veronica and I talked, told her I'm doing fine that it's alright here, but I still miss my family. She found that I'm ahead in my studies I suppose Grace told her, of course she was concerned if I'm just rushing to get out, to see my family-truth is no I just like to read, school, and learning which I told her. Veronica understood and left, I went too class and received my next book. Its big and thick, too many pages! This book has forty-five chapters, ok there's like 20-30 pages between chapters, and the first quiz is chapters 1-5 and the next is 6-12, so I guess I'll read every day for at least week. Grace just told me there is no quizzes after finishing chapters, only one test for the entire book plus the other quizzes/books I hadead. Many words can describe this so I'll just go with these two: wow and crazy!! So when I finished I'll give Grace my books and take that test. Hopefully I get those books back I would like to reread them like a reference-in case I forget something; that or pure of joy of reading. Been reading that so forty so chapter(s) book like a week and a half possibly two weeks and I'm finally finished! Took an hour-two or longer to finish that test, got an A on it. And I did get my books back. Veronica came over to tell me that I'll be starting advanced class, but I'm still going to live with Grace. So in a few days I'll start advance class; swell. I wonder what mermaids/mans do? Yes I said merman-apparently men can change, I found that guys would pick-up necklace or bracelets for themselves, girlfriend, sister and or mom basically anyone important in their lives or they just want it or trying it on see if it's a good size thus them turning into a merman. Advance class is the same as beginner(s), teach us the same stuff, just that few things seem extra meaning new such as potions, and shape shifting (disguising) into humans-like different eye/hair color, tall/short, and so, but were also learning more about talking to other aquatic animals. Still books, but instead of chapters there is parts for example part , part 2 in part 1 theirs is 10 chapters so each part it talks about the subject like our first part is about aquatic talks. I'm still a fast reader all the tests/quizzes I took A's accept one got a B+ on it, but it's alright if it's a C- you don't want that because then you would have to retake the quiz/test in a week or after you're done reading that part. I was in the ocean for at least five months and I just got into intermediate class. We read some, but we mostly work on what we read previously in the other classes-(beginner and advance). so were actually practicing shape shifting- either wise disguises, talking to aquatic animals of all kinds-from a clam to a whale or the poisonous to non-poisonous aquatic; and also few spells that all mermaids/men know like aqua spell-turn anything from human world like paper into water proof, or transporting items from the human world like books that is after we/ I, whoever water proof it (the item), and making one wish come true when someone see that is not related to you of course. And oh if you have a child-with your husband they can talk to Veronica if they per mentally want to be human, then Veronica will turn him/her into human, but in return they can't talk about their parents. If both of the parents die either relatives saw/or figure who they are or old age then the child is called back home to the ocean and turned back into a mermaid/man to take his/her place-follow in the parent's mer-genes and is also put through school like the parents (beginner-intermediate). Now it's been like six months and I'm finally out of school/classes. I'm still going to live with Grace until I'm probably eighteen or twenty one; that or till I find or build a house like building. I would live in and or near that alcove-cave, but I'm not taking a chance though I'll do disguises' after the time period that Veronica said plus a few months after that. I just finished intermediate class and it's the eighth month since my mermaid transformation thing. So I'm just going to work, and try to meet new friends. The year is up at last cause Veronica came saw me too tell me I can visit my family in disguise. I asked her how would I find my way back to the alcove cave and Grace's house if I ever left/swim med far her reply was that I'll feel it in my heart/nerves. As I said before I decided to wait a little like a few months too disguise too see my family, instead I swim med the ocean a month or two then I went over to the alcove cave I said a spell to check close by-see if anyone was there, nothing. So I transformed into a human (my disguise) got red short straight hair, green eyes, and somewhat tall/short. I have to watch the clock; I only have twelve hours till I turn back to a mermaid. Its 12pm so I have to get back to the ocean like 5-10 minutes before 11am, just to be sure. Knocked on my old house and my mother opened the door at least she or anyone didn't recognized me, she asked what I wanted, I told them that I needed a place to stay for amount of hours, but I'd be coming back if they do let me stay. Our agreement was I stay, but pay fifty dollars and I can't enter a room-they say it's their daughter's and that she doesn't like anyone entering or coming in so she locked it. They must be very hurt that i... their daughter am not here and of course scared and worried where she is at. Night came and as I found the key that locks/unlocks doors even though I could use magic to unlock it or place me in my old room, but I wanted to see if they hid the key under the little room couch or the knife draw- they have a spare key in case they misplace/lose their key. It's there I left it and used my magic first I made a duplicate of myself sleeping in the spare room second I turned myself invisible so I could go through my locked door. My parents left it the way I did before I transformed. I looked around everything, still in ghost form took well-turned small hidden things into aqua proof and sent it to my room at Grace's house things like: money, photos, paper/writing utensils, a flash light, and my journal. After I sent a few things to my new temporary homeoom I floated too the spare room unduplicated me and turned me back into human also still disguised and went to bed. Woke early around eight, ate breakfast, talked to my parents and older sister and yes they didn't recognized me they're doing alright just miss me-my old self the one before I found that pearl necklace. Went back to the alcove cave did that spell-see if anyone is close by, no one so I went in underneath the water-just in case and lifted my disguise. Swam back to Grace's house into my room and saw my stuff that I aqua proof and sent to my temporary stay, it was all here, so I put them in place. Afterwards I called for Veronica she says all you have to do is call her as in her name loud enough not a whisper nor a yell...she appeared we talked about disguises' if I could be undisguised for like an hour or two and then re-disguise myself to visit my family she said that I would have to wait at least an hour sometimes a day it just depends how much magic you used within the hours you/others were disguised and if you use some amount magic frequently-doesn't depend on age. I told her Veronica all the magic I used I have to wait nearly two days-takes a lot of energy to use magic/spells, I guess that's why I fell asleep immediately. If I'm going to use that much magic I would have to sleep the most of the day before I go home to my family. The third day I took all my money and a purse, got to the alcove cave, said my spell checker around see if anyone was their- no one, good! Did my transformation disguise, went home to let them know I'm shopping and well I also had to give them my rent money for this month; and to go too my rented room too lock it so I could turn into a ghost and float to my room- just so I could write all the book and movie titles down on a piece of paper I had in my purse. Went back to my rented room to turn back into human disguise, went downstairs too leave and shop, but got stopped by Mrs. Levy (my mother) she was curious what I was getting at the store/mall and why I wasn't in school. I simply said I was on spring break and that I showed her my list-my list wasn't all book/movie titles, but other simple things like a bathing suit, hair accessories (clips, ties), and such. Mrs. Levy insisted to drive me and before I knew it she and I was talking and walking through the mall. Got like everything on that list with some money too spare. Were home at last- took my stuff and went to my room, I had to hurry I only have a half hour till my mer-side came back so I water proof everything, sent it too (Grace) house, but it goes to my room there. I was out the door when I heard Mrs. Levy said wait-she gave me a spare house key, it only unlocks the front door, after I closed the door and hurried down got closer to the alcove so I sent my checker around, no one that is close, got in the pool/ocean just in a micro of time. Swam back too Grace, she wasn't home but a note on the table-just telling me she went out to the store for groceries, that she'll be back soon and want to talk to me about a few things. Guess that I better not go out not even if I had money like earlier plus I have to put my stuff I bought today with Mrs. Levy, my mom away. Just put my stuff away-in its place and Grace came through the door calling for me, I helped her put the groceries away. We finished and I took a seat thinking- did I do something wrong. No not exactly Grace just wanted to give me a cell phone with her number already in there, it's just in case I need or tell her when I'll be back or if I'm sending something there that and to call any of my friends. Seems that I'll be wearing one of my new bikini tops since Grace asked me to put something nice on because she invited someone named Rolland over, swell. So I decided to wear my green bikini top because I thought it would look nice/compliment my blonde hair. And apparently it wasn't all of her idea, was also Veronica's. We finished setting the table and then someone knocked on the door. Grace got it; it was Rolland and Veronica, they came in and we ate. I had the feeling set it up for us, but I don't know I could be wrong; anyway we finished dinner and cleaned up. We sat back down and Veronica started...she explained that Rolland is fifteen and having a time with his studies either wise he needs help or a tutor, and Grace volunteered me apparently. Veronica and Rolland left, Veronica had to take/show Rolland his home-well his new temporary home...Grace and I talked, she volunteered me cause I got A's in beginner class, thought it would help him if he knew someone his or close to his age, that and she thought we'd become friends after the time seeing each. Well I won't mind helping him, after all I like to help others when I can-that is if I'm there to help , it is important for him to everything their plus the higher classes pact down, and well maybe Grace is right we might become friends; but I probably won't be able visit home-my family and old friends. Well I found that I'll be tutoring him after mer-school that means I can go visit my family for a little bit, but I'll have to get back to the alcove like two hours early at least. Rolland is...someone who likes to talk; we didn't get through the first chapter without him interrupting me with questions about the chapter and me. Ok got it today instead of me explaining it too him were gonna do it either wise go out and experience like aquatic talk and worked a little-he learned to talk to harmless, non-venomous, and small sea creatures like a clown fish. We got back to Grace's house she was there; Rolland got his stuff and left for his temp. Home grace waited for Rolland to be out of sight to ask me what I was thinking for taking him out, that I should be tutoring him; I explained that he wouldn't stop talking so I figured that he is one of those doers. Huh Grace told me that he was quiet in class that he didn't ask questions about anything, weird since all he did was talk, ok tomorrow I'm getting to the bottom of this talk thing. The next day Grace left to visit a mer-friend so I could blow-up (explodes, let my feelings out) about Rolland; quiet in class yet non-stop talking when I tutor. Rolland finally arrived, before we get started I confronted him and how he didn't talk in class, but he does with me. He told me he wanted to talk to someone near or his age, but only saw older mer-people that and he wanted to get to know me. Awe! Just so sweet I thought, anyway I told Rolland that is understandable-can't find many mer-people around our age. So I told him that we can hang out any time, but after he's done Merschool entirely-(beginner, advanced, and intermediate). Thankfully Rolland agreed with me; weeks has passed and every day I go through the same process-visit family for a bit, come back help Rolland, and a little talking to him. It's been at least or almost a year since Rolland came here and he is finally done all the classes; one day we both went to the mer-mall and met a few teens close to our age. Every day I'll visit my family for like six hours come back and hang out with Rolland and our friends. We all have fun hanging out talking and shopping. I think Grace is happy Rolland and I found close to age friends, but also seeing my family trying to make it all equal time to see both family/old friends and new (mer)friends. As for my cell phone I do use it call my friends- both mer and non-mermaid/man, family, and Grace when I'm gonna get home late. My sixteenth birthday is coming up I wonder how I'm going to celebrate it, I mean both with my old world (human) and new world (mermaid)? I figured it out I'll celebrate my birthday early-two day(s) before my actual birthday in the human world-so no one get suspicious, then celebrate it on the actual day in mer-world. Great plan, I think. A few days passed when I had a surprise visitor, Veronica? She came over to tell me some news well actually it's something she forgot to mention too me, apparently we mer-folk can't show/or let family recognized us as mermaids and such or we'll die, but the only acceptation to this crazy rule is our birthday, somehow the pearl or magic whatever will drop the craziness for one day and night. Interesting, cool! Then when time is up you better turn your disguise on or get back into the water and return to mer-world. Hmm, well then I'm going home for my birthday...just have to remember about disguising myself the next day or run away back to mer-people late that night. So I could visit them as myself on my birthday. Last year? Well it's better to know now then later. I'll celebrate my birthday the next day after or before that (my b-day) with Grace and my friends down here in the mer-world. My birthday is finally here, veronica came with me too assure me that it'll be alright; that I won't back down. I didn't...I didn't back down, went ashore with no disguise. I've been figuring what to say to them, after all I was gone for two years-no note or excuse accept the one Veronica magically placed in the mail box; (breathing loudly) knocked on my house and my mother opened the door. Before she could even call for my dad she was hugging, kissing, and crying all over me, I knew that would happen. And I was right that they were going to ask me where I was, I told them that 'I wanted to experience more of life on my own, even though I was just fourteen, but it's really life changing and amazing' and that 'I'm just here for my birthday, I'm going back out again.' My parents sort of understood my explanation, but disagreed about me going out again like that and I'm punished tomorrow because today is my birthday. Hours later we were shopping-new clothes and a cell phone; even though I had one from Grace, but they don't know that. We got home and I put my clothes in my old bedroom, went out with my old friends for a bit; got in the house and my parents sat me down. Uh-oh, usually this means either trouble or we need to discuss something. My father started he said that me going off like that was wrong, but taught me something-I seemed different somehow, and that next time they want a note or letter. My mother stepped in telling me that there locking my door so I can't do it again-run away...got in my room and heard my door (click)-lock. So two passed and I had written a few page(s) letter to both my parents, sister, and friends simply I'm gone again, and I'm taking a few things, that I'll be back on my next birthday maybe, and lastly that I have a friend that you guys have already met, Holly (my disguise name), she doesn't know where I live I keep traveling- we stay connected (mail, email, call). After writing those letter pages I made a pile with a bag and basket and water proof and sent them to Grace's house. Left a spare key I had years ago- it opens every door in the house on my bed with the page letters, opened the door, turned into a ghost and went down to the alcove, sent my checker out- a person, swell!! So I flew out into the sea still in ghost form- went out far that you can't even see the land or light house...sent my checker out for a half mile in all directions (check for boats)-nothing. Dived underneath the water and I transformed back into my mermaid self, went home-to Grace, took my stuff and put it all on the floor in my room-still in the basket and bag...After that I went straight to sleep (bed). I woke up the next day-(after my birthday), slept good enough to wake and celebrate a day late birthday here with Grace and my friends Few days passed and I decided to go see my family in disguise of course, they seemed happy yet mad at me. Happy-maybe because I might know where me I mean Fiona is, sadly no; mad because I met/know Fiona? Besides coming visit them; I also came to tell them that 'I'm enrolling at the high school' so they'll see less of me. I'm gonna use my eleven hours at school at the school and get my diploma- just in case I want to work in the human world, of course it'll be a eleven hours and a few minutes of work disguise. I have decided to teach-less than eleven hours and few minutes, I get paid decent, work with little of my magic (disguise, checker, and water and non-water proof stuff). That day when I returned back to Grace's house from telling the Levy's my enrollment plan, I had two visitors waiting for me...Veronica and Rolland. Veronica was there to warn me to be very careful about my use of magic and disguise while in school, I promised that I'll be careful as much as I can possibly be. Veronica seemed satisfied with my answer and left; Rolland asked if we could go too my room for privacy because he had something personal and private for me- somewhat, ok was my answer. Rolland shut the door and sat for a few minutes; indeed it was something personal to him. Took a few minutes, but he finally talked to me any way he asked if I would be his girlfriend and was quiet after that question-not even looking at me while he asked me... I lifted his head up, nodded my head and before I knew it his lips was on mine. I didn't mind the kiss it was nice as if I was floating on a cloud that no one else existed, after that kiss I asked if we could take it slow. Rolland's response was 'of course, I wouldn't want to disrespect you.'
