Obsession: Marco De Luca

OBSESSION FIVE

Marco stepped out from his fortuner car—he went home just to change his car and went back again to the bar. He stand beside the car door, crossed his arms, lay his back on it and looked at Myrina. Despite of what the lady said, Marco was still there.

"Get in," Marco casually stated.

Myrina looked at Marco with her eyebrows almost touching each other. She's questioning this man—why is he still there. She thought he went home already after their scene at the parking lot.

"We don't need your help."

Marco smiled a little by what he heard. He knows that Myrina won't easily agree to accept his help. As Myrina saw him smiling, she raised an eyebrow. What's funny with what she said? Myrina is looking at Marco who's standing infront of her. The man's gaze transferred from her to Georgina and Trinity who both almost laying on the road.

"You're friends might answer yes, if they're awake," Marco responded and turn his gaze again to Myrina. "Hindi kayo makakauwi kaagad niyan if hindi ko kayo ihahatid."

"I already gave you an answer, Mister—"

"Marco." He said. "Call me my by name."

Myrina didn't get it. Sinadya nitong tawagin na Mister and binata upang maging pormal, ngunit mukhang si Marco mismo ang may ayaw nang ganoon. He wants to be called Marco and not Mister.

"Fine." Myrina responds. "Marco, we don't need your help."

Marco gently smiles. For the second time, Myrina called his name.

"I heard there's a murder case around this area so that the polices blocked the road from cab and taxi. The victim was stabbed fourty seven times in different areas in his body." Marco said and turn his gaze on the way where the murder took place. "It's not far from here. I bet the culprit is still around this area."

Fear crawled up to Myrina's body. What Marco said is possible. The murderer might be still there, hiding from the polices.

"S-So what?" Her voice stuttered. "The polices are also here. They can protect us—"

"Protect?" Marco mockingly said and turned to Myrina. "If the criminal attacks you, polices might arrived here when you and your friends were already dead. Also... they failed to protect the victim so how can you say they can protect you?"

Myrina got stunned. Marco was right. The polices might be there to respond from the criminal attack, if ever, but Myrina can't guarantee a hundred percent that polices will arrived on time.

Myrina looked at her friends. She's scared not just for herself but for Georgia and Trinity too, that's for sure. But, if she accept Marco's help, that would be a big blow to her ego after what she'd done to him last night.

"So...?" Marco waiting for Myrina's decision.

Myrina paused for a second. She clenched her fists and look down. "How much?" She asked.

"Pardon?" Marco asked her too. Not sure what Myrina meant by that.

"I said how much do I have to pay for the ride?" Her face is blushing from embarrassment. Her eyes squeeze when she turned to look at Marco.

Marco tried to stopped himself from laughing. He fake a cough.

"Well, a coffee will do."

"I can't. I wanted to rest right now—"

"Of course. Of course." Marco responded quickly. "I didn't mean now. I'll just call you for the details."

Myrina got confused by what this man said. "How can you call me? You don't have my number."

"Well, not yet," wika ni Marco sabay lahad ng kaniyang phone at ibinigay kay Myrina. "I need your number first."

Myrina can't believe it. Parang pinaglalaruan lang siya ng binata. If she will give him her number to have a coffee together, hindi ba at parang dalawang bayad na iyon para sa binata?

Marco hand over his phone but Myrina didn't reach it yet. She's having a second thought. She have a boyfriend and giving this man her number would consider as cheating.

Marco patiently waits until finally, Myrina reached the phone. She tapped a contact number when Marco spoke.

"Oh! And don't try to input other people's number. I'll give you a call right after you put your number," Marco said and Myrina deleted the random number she input quickly. That doesn't escape Marco's attention.

"Here!" Myrina said and return Marco's phone involuntarily.

Marco gladly take his phone and tapped the call button. After seconds, a phone suddenly ring. It's Myrina's phone.

"Great! Save my number, Myrina. I'll text you the details soon. For now, I'll help you carry your friends to my car and drive you all home... safely," wika ni Marco at lumapit sa dalaga na hindi na inatubili pa ang sarili na tumugon.

Kagaya nang kanilang napagkasunduan. Tinulungan ni Marco si Myrina na isakay sa sasakyan sina Georgia at Trinity. Both of the drunk ladies are half awake, but still too drunk to know what's happening so they just closed their eyes and let everything happen happens.

As soon as the three ladies were inside the car, Marco went to the driver's seat and start the car. Myrina is seating on the passenger seat as per requeted by Marco because she's the only one in mind who knows where Georgia and Trinity lives.

"So..." Marco started the conversation. "Sino muna ang ihahatid natin?" Pagtatanong nito kay Myrina habang nirereverse ang sasakyan.

"Trinity's house was just two blocks away from here. She lives at Ariella's subdivision. 104 Callaway Street, 20th corner." Myrina said and Marco just nodded.

Marco started his driving and Myrina just looked outside the window. There were people from that place who were outside from their houses to gossip about the crime. Everyone is scared. Habang papalapit sila nang papalapit sa high-way ay siya namang palakas nang palakas ang sirena ng police car.

"I forgot, polices are on the roadside near the highway," wika ni Marco habang tinatanaw ang kalsada. Nilingon naman ni Myrina ang binata. "They need to do a quick check point for all the cars going out," seryosong wika nito bago tinagpo ang tingin sa kaniya ng dalaga.

Myrina gets it. She gets the point why the polices need to check every vehicle trying to passed by. And that's to ensure that the culprit from the murder won't escape.

"I get it," wika ni Myrina bago sumandal sa kaniyang kinauupuan. "For sure naman papalagpasin nila tayo. Neither of us is the culprit anyway," inaantok na dagdag pa ng dalaga ngunit hindi sumagot si Marco.
