"Ladies? We have a guest that would like to me you." My mother came through the sliding glass door. Her blonde hair pinned up and her face a little to no makeup her face didn't need it, and she was also wearing a yellow dress. She came over to us smiling.
"I hope you are ready to me the first man of the night," she whispered to us. All the girls giggled. "Beck you can come over here dear. The girls are ready." We all looked at the glass door and from the shadows appeared a young man with brown hair and green eyes. His physique was athletic and toned. His face looked like it was built for art. Wow he was pretty handsome. He was tall too. He was dress in a black and white suite. "oh my god swoon," Diana whispered to us. Beck walked over to my mother and bowed to her. In our pod my mother was kinda like a queen and others respected her. "Thank you Elena for inviting me to meet these lovely ladies." He returned to his normal stance and looked at us.
His eyes glanced at us one by one and seemed to stop at Ellie. I peeked over at Ellie to see her reaction and she was awe struck. She was blushing through her blush. Beck immediately walked over to her and asked to take her hand and walk with him. I could hear the other girls disapproval.
"Where are they going?" I asked. Ivy beside me whispered in my ear. "He's going to transform for her and if she likes him she can have him since he picked her." I looked at her. "Oh that simple huh?" I replied. Ivy nodded "If other men like Ellie she can decide if she still wants Beck or another man." I looked towards the beach. "Will Ellie have to change for him?" I asked Ivy. She glanced at me "You don't know a lot about this do you? Yes if she approves of him she will." Ivy was right, I didn't know much about this. No one prepared me for it. My mother kinda just through me to the wolves. "Alright ladies I'm going to go greet the other men. Remember if they don't choose right away just talk to them."
She turned to leave but stopped at the skidding glass door. "Oh and Faleen come here I'd like to talk with you." Oh boy...Cleo probably told mother what happened. I'd hoped she would of just let it go, but of course little miss perfect has to tattle to mommy.
I rolled my eyes and walked into the house. Mother was sitting on the couch with a wine glass twirling it around. "Cleo told me of your little outburst today." She proceeded to twirl her wine glass and not look at me. "Well.." I started but mother cut me off. "You lash out at your sister. You don't tell us about Renya and you proceed to reject the life that I've given you." What? She knew about Renya? How? I didn't tell anybody about that. "How did you know about Renya?" I started to walk in front of her now so I could see her face to face. "Dear these walls have ears," she looked up at me then. Her eyes were light blue and stone cold. "Apparently.." I crossed my arms in disgust. Mother stared at me then and her eyes stopped at my necklace. "So you've visited your father?" She questioned. My hand immediately went to the necklace which now felt hot. " Yes. I did." I replied. She sipped her wine and responded. "I think you've had enough of this little extravaganzas. You can leave." I shook my head "Wait what?" She got up and started to walk to the front door.
"You don't want to be here Faleen and those woman out there want this more than you. I'm not going to give a man, a woman who refuses to acknowledge her own culture." She turned and left for the front door. Are you kidding me!? She decided I wouldn't partake in this even though I had a dress ready for me already? Or was that a mistake. You know what forget it. I'm out of here.
I stormed out of the front door and took a different stone path walk way. Out into the garden. I knew no one would be there. I wanted to be alone. I missed Renya. I hated this life. I didn't fit in. I felt like my own family disowned me. When I have children one day they are never going to meet this part of my family. The stone path lead me to the white gate before the garden. I walked through it and the smell of roses and lavender filled the air around me.
There was a Willow tree in the middle of the garden with a white stone bench. I was done with this night. I took my heels off and threw them to the side and sat on the bench. I wanted to just sleep and pretend this night never happened. Pretend I didn't have a crappy family. Everyone except my Dad and Ellie.
I closed my eyes for what felt like hours and fell asleep. I awoke to footsteps on the stone path. I quickly got up from the bench and hide behind the tree. I didn't want to be seen by anyone right now. I peeked from behind the tree. Maybe it was Ellie coming to find me. The footsteps stopped and it wasn't Ellie. It was a stranger. A man with white hair and a slender toned body. He was wearing a suit like Beck as well and he looked like he was in his 20's.
He must of gotten lost. From what I could see of him he wore...glasses? He bent over to a rose bush and started smelling them. He seemed pleased by the smell because he smiled and damn that smile could kill. He turned his head to the lavender by the tree and I got a better look at his face. His eyes were hazel and he had a sharp jawline. He looked gentle yet dangerous? If that was even possible.
He was very good looking. More good looking then the men I've ever seen. God he looked like a sexy male librarian. I blushed at the thought. My heart started to beat faster. He got up from the rose bush and walked towards the lavender beside me. I took a step back and stepped on a twig. The sound made the man I was gawking at stop in his tracks and look at the willow tree. I hid so he wouldn't see me but he would probably come to investigate what the sound was.
It went quite for a moment and I peeked back to see if he was still there, but he wasn't. I got the courage to come out from hiding and see if he had really gone but I answered my own question once a voice behind me made me jump.
"You know, staring at someone is considered rude?" The smooth husky voice behind me scared the living s**t out me and I screamed. I looked behind me and there he was. He had not gone, he had just moved to where I couldn't see him. He was smirking now. Cheeky bastard. "Well it's also rude to scare a woman like that." I held my chest as if my heart was going to jump out.
This was a total stranger...was he here for the girls? He sat cross legged with his arms crossed on the white stone bench. Good lord this man was handsome... I probably was staring for awhile and didn't notice. "Would you like a picture?" He c****d his head and raised his eyebrow and he was still smirking at me. I was getting a little annoyed. Who was this cocky handsome bastard? "No.." I replied. "Who the hell are you anyway? And why are you in my garden?" I questioned.
He stood up then and this man towered over me. He made me feel smaller than I already felt. "Now is that anyway to treat a guest?" He asked me with his hands now in his pockets. "Oh so your here for the girls. There that way." I pointed back to the stone path. "You turned the wrong way. Follow the path to the right and it will lead you back to the house." I picked up my heels and proceeded to walk away but he followed. "Is that were your heading?" He questioned. "No." I replied in a sharp tone. "And stop following me weirdo." He laughed at me.
"Well your going the same way I am." I suddenly stopped and turned around and was about to make a snarky ass comment but I ran into his chest and he caught me in his arms. I was caught by surprise and looked up at him. He was looking down at me. He felt warm and had a soft scent of vanilla. I swear I could feel his muscles through his clothes. I then realized...I wasn't wearing a bra. He was smiling down at me. My eyes widened and I ripped myself out of his embrace and slapped him.
That instantly took him a minute to register. "Don't touch me you perv!"I yelled at him. He chuckled in surprise and held the cheek that I had slapped. I knew I was blushing bad. My face felt heated. I ran from him back towards the house. I got into the house and slammed the door behind me. I was in the living room now. I took a few minutes to catch my breath. I looked out the sliding glass doors and saw Ellie holding Becks hand. Huh I guess she likes him. She was smiling up at him and laid her head on his arm. My heart started to ache a little. My mother didn't want me in this meet and greet because she thinks I'm not suited to be with anyone of our culture but my heart still ached for someone to love and for someone to love me.
It looked like all the men were there now but one. The sun was finally starting to rise. My mother was now with all the people gathered in the backyard. She looked like she was talking about something important. The people all gasped and looked beyond her to someone else. Ivy dropped her glass of wine and Ellie covered her mouth in surprise. I decided to get closer to the sliding glass door and opened it a creak so I could hear what was going on.
"Now ladies I have been waiting to introduce you to someone very special and he is looking for a mate and he has chosen our pod to pick his mate from. Please give a warm welcome to Theo of the Seven Seas. Poseidon's Son."
My mother was gleaming with pride and proceeded to bow just like the others. Poseidon's Son was here?! Of all places he chose us? Why? I wondered what he looked like. I could hear the girls excitement, the men however looked intimidated.
"Oh my goodness...that's means that one of us could possibly be married into the royal bloodline!" Ivy started to jump up and down In excitement and the other girls followed suit expect for Ellie who was still holding Becks arm. I wasn't in a good place to see Poseidon's son so I moved a little to the right and dropped to my knees, when I saw a glimpse of white hair and glasses. It was him. The man I met in the garden. Oh my god. I b***h slapped Poseidon's son!
