Sirens of the Abyss

Chapter 7

My head was reeling. Why was he in the garden? Oh my god I'm so stupid. I hit my head with the palm of my head. Theo took my mother's hand and kissed it. "You have a wonderful way of welcoming your guests Elena. You've made your home look breath taking." My mother got up from her bow and thanked him. "We only have three women for you to choose from. We had 2 more but I don't think they were a fit for someone like you." Theo looked a Elena and then to the three women that were left, Ellie, Ivy and Diana. He walked up to all three and the other men beside them walked away. "It's my pleasure to meet all of you." His back was turned now so I couldn't see his expression. "Please tell me each of your names." He asked.

 Ivy went first twirling her hair with her finger. "I'm Ivy Quilett your grace." She curtsied. Theo went to Diana next. Diana held her head high. "I'm Diana Mortally," Diana's curtsie was long probably a few seconds and Last was Ellie. Ellie of course was a shy little thing when it came to stuff like this. "...I'm Ellie Scoffer..." Ellie's curtsie was quick. Theo turned to my mother and said "There was one more woman." My mothers eye's widened. "What do you mean your grace?" Theo took a step towards my mother. "The one in the garden with a yellow dress like Ellie's. "I'm assuming she is from your pod as well am I right?" He questioned. My mother all but stuttered. "Well....I..I have to assume that, that was my eldest daughter Cleo. Which I am sorry your grace but she is taken." He turned to the white table and picked up an apple. "No, not your eldest daughter. Your youngest one." 

My mothers face went stone cold. "Oh...that is my daughter...Faleen but she was not included in this. She opted out of it." Theo took a bite of the apple and swallowed. "Is that so? Well that's to bad because she's the one I want." I could of sliced the air with a knife and it would have gone through like butter. Everyone gawked at him and so did I. I just slapped the man! And he decided to pick me of all women? Is he crazy? My mother instantly butted in "Your grace these three women are more than capable of fitting your needs. Faleen is immature and doesn't have the fire these women do." Well f**k you too mom. I thought to myself.Ivy then spoke up,"Please your grace you haven't given us a chance to prove are self's worthy yet." Ivy pleaded. Theo glanced over at Ivy and shook his head. "I know what I want. I don't need you to prove anything to me." He finished the apple and placed it in the tin next to the table. Diana intruded "Why her? All she ever did was complain about this and how she couldn't accept marrying a stranger. She doesn't want this. She wants none of it! We do, so how is she better than us?!" Diana was livid.Her hands balled into fists. Theo replied not looking at Diana but looking around that backyard."She isn't and I never said she was." My mother was stunned. She didn't know how to react and honestly, it felt nice. For someone to pick m for once. My mother walked up Theo and tired to convince him that was not a good fit. "Listen Theo, Faleen is just...how do you say...a troubled child. She isn't ready to take on role as big as having your next of kin. She still has a lot to learn and I have no idea where she could be now but these woman are here," she pointed to the girls but Theo remained unmoved. "I'd like to see Faleen please. Find her, "and with that he left towards the beach. Oh no. What did he want with me? Was I to be punished for hitting him? I was a little worried now. I bite my lip and felt butterflies all in my stomach. 

God I always seem to be I the middle of s**t. Why can't I be left out of it for once. But I still had a question reeling in my mind. Why me? My curiosity got the best of me and decided to ask him myself. 

I wasnt going to deny that part of me wanted to see him again. His hazel eyes and wickedly sexy smile...my mind lingered on him for a while and sent shivers up and down my spine. Why did he make me feel this way? No one had every made me feel like this and I've seen plenty handsome men but...just something about him.

I got up and sneaked out the front door. There was another way to the shore line through the garden. I reached the willow tree and kept going following another stone path way out to the sand. I reached the sandy bank and walked over it and saw Theo.

He was looking at a seashell. He had his black jacket off now and was only in the white long sleeve shirt and black pants. I walked over to him and as I got closer my necklace started to heat up again.

"What in the world?" I said out loud and immediately stopped in my tracks. The necklace was now burning me. I tried to take the necklace off but the pearl and the emerald were now sinking into my skin. 

I let out a scream. Theo quickly turned his head and saw me. He ran towards me and got on his knees. "What's happening?!" I asked panicking. Theo's face had a serious express on it and it started to scare me even more. "Theo?! What the hell is going on?!" I screamed at him. The pearl and the emerald had embedded themselves into my skin and it still burned. Theo grabbed my hand and started to pull me towards the water.

I tried to pull back from him but he was stronger than me. "Theo what are you doing!?" I yelled and clawed at his hands to let me go he yacked me into the water. 

Theo started to take off his shirt and pants. He turned towards me. "Take them off or it will hurt even more....Now!" His sudden out burst scared me. I slowly took off my dress and left it for the sea water to take. Theo dove under. 

I had only changed hours ago and now I had to do again. 

Did Theo change into a Siren too? I wouldn't know unless I got underwater. I looked back on land. No one would know what happened to me, " I'm sorry Dad and Ellie." I turned back to the water and dove under.

The pain actually wasn't so bad this time. It wasn't so painful as it was annoying. I had changed fully now. I reached for my chest to feel if the pearl and emerald had come off but it was still there and it wasn't burning anymore. 

I looked around me and saw no sign of Theo. "...Theo?" I hoped he could hear me through telepathy like the others could. 

I started to swim slowly so I wouldn't miss him if he happened to swim by me.  I saw a shadow figure up ahead and it seemed to be getting closer. It seemed small from that far away but as it got closer it got bigger and I could see more clearer who it was. Theo

He had changed into a siren. His hair color remained the same. His body took on a sort of grey dolphin color all over and he was huge. Longer than my tail was. I looked like a guppy compared to this guy's form. His tail had a white spike on the end of it. 

I swam towards him. "Follow" he gestured with his head. So he could do telepathy. That was a relief. I swam next to him. "Theo you still haven't told me what's going on?"He remained silent.

I stopped swimming, and Theo stopped as well and turned his head to me annoyed. "Tell me now, or im not going with you." Theo swam up to me "Your going even if you like it or not," He commanded.

What? Theo had totally did a one eighty on his personality. He was demanding things of me now? What happened to that smirking cocky bastard I met In the garden? I liked him better...

"I'm not going anywhere with you.." I stated. "and if you try to make me I'll fight you and I promise I will kill you. I've already killed already. I can do it again." I was death glaring at him now. Try me b***h.

Theo turned his head to the side an scoffed and then I felt I sharp pain in my abdomen.  I looked down and saw a white spike through my abdomen.

 Theo had stabbed me with his spike. I was furious now. I grabbed his spike that was still through me and broke it in half. 

Theo re tracked his tail from me and now I was losing blood. But I'd be damned if I was going to be the only one hurt. I pretended to be weak and held my abdomen and pretended to cry In pain. 

Theo swam up to me and grabbed me and put me on his back holding my arms."I told you, you were coming with me no matter what. You should of listened to me."He then proceeded to swim off with me on him. "No...you should of listened to me." I twisted my arms out of his and plunged my spike into his back.He let out a growl and lunged for me but I twisted out of his grip and swam as fast as I could farther into the open sea. 

"Faleen!" Theo yelled after me. I kept swimming, I didn't know where I was going but I just kept swimming. I looked behind me to make sure I had lost him and I saw no sign of him.I started to slow down. My wound was now making it hard for me to swim any further.I didn't know where I was but it was a gapping dark blue space of nothingness. I started to feel faint my eyes were fading in and out.I got away from him but my wound was too severe. I couldn't swim back to land for help. 

I was soon consumed by darkness and the last thing I glimpse was white hair...

"Theo! I told you not to hurt her!" I heard a feminine voice say. 

"Believe me I tried Luna, but she wouldn't come willing. I had to do something." 

I heard Theo reply. My body felt heavy, like a lead weight. I felt someone place something cold on my head and felt a dip on what I could only think was what I was laying on.

"The poor thing...you must of scared her to death!" the woman talking was close to me now. 

"Luna she was going to kill me If I didn't put her down. You should've seen that look in her eyes." I felt another dip on whatever I was laying on...a bed?

"Well I doubt when she wakes up, she will want to see your face. Leave please." I felt one of the dips on the bed leave and a door shut behind them. 

My eyes felt heavy. I opened them slowly and my vision was coming back. I saw blue...or I was staring at something blue. The ceiling? I turned my head and saw a woman with long grey hair and in a purple silk dress. She was holding a wooden bowl mixing something in it.

When my vision was fully clear I saw her fully. The woman with long grey hair was older. Maybe in her 40's? I could only assume that her name was Luna...

I tried to get up but felt a sharp pain in my abdomen. "Ah!" I instantly reached for my wound and held it. The woman in the purple dress put down her wooden bowl and hurried to me.

"No,no,no,no sweetheart don't do that." She pushed my shoulders back to get me to lay down again. As she laid me down I got a better look at her face. Her face was pale white and her eyes were a light purple. I've never seen that kind of eye color before. Her face was oval shaped with high cheek bones. 

I stared at her. She warmly smiled at me and stroked my forehead. "Now I don't want those bandages coming undone so you just rest for now okay? No trying to get up." She grabbed a white blanket at the end of my bed and placed it over me. I had so many questions.

"What is this place? Where am I?" I questioned my new caretaker. She had gone back to mixing the stuff in her wooden bowl. She glanced at me.

 She stopped mixing and placed the bowl down and put her hands on her hips in a huff, " Did that boy not tell you where he was taking you? Oh I swear to God sometimes I could just..." She inhaled, raised her hands up and slowly put them down as if to relax her self and sighed. 

"I'm sorry he was so rough with you." She grabbed a cloth next her bowl and wiped her hands off. She sat the rag down and  walked over to me and sat next to me on the bed. "My name is Luna, I'm a nurse here and I'm a close family friend of Theo's family and you are in the Underwater city of Abynea." 

I felt like I was in a daze. Abynea? I was still underwater? I peeked at my hands and they weren't webbed. Why had I not changed yet? I then realized I wasn't Underwater. 

I looked at Luna confused. She chuckled, "Don't worry your not going crazy. Abynea has a giant air pocket. In the center of the city. That's why you have not changed forms yet. I started to take notice of what was around me. I was in a small bed all white bedding and there was a door in front of me. The room was painted in blue, with an emblem of a gold trident above the door. 

"You will heal in a couple days. For now I would like for you to take it easy. I'll be back with some food for you, I bet your starving." She got up and walked out the door. I looked around more at the room. The table that Luna had put her wooden bowl down on had what looked like kelp on it. Wet and dried out. Some of it was even hanging above the table. 

A knock came from the door and it opened "Luna I left my belt I here do you..." He stopped talking once he saw I was awake. I crossed my arms and said "You have a lot of explaining to do seeing as your the one who brought me here against my will,"  He closed the door behind him and walked to my bedside.

He was wearing dark colored jeans and a black V-neck shirt. It made his eye pop and his hair. I stopped myself from staring at him. "I apologize for my rashness but I saw no other way to get you here." He sat next to me now. I could smell his alluring vanilla scent. It drove my senses wild. "Why did you bring me here Theo? And don't lie to me." I looked start at him to let him know I was serious. He looked back at me and I saw his eye dilate. He shook his head as if to shake a thought out of his head. 

"Your not gonna like the answer, but I'll tell you." He raised his hand and placed it on my chest were the pearl and emerald were right above my breasts. His hand on mine sent fireworks all over my body. "This pearl and emerald you have embedded in you is a key that unlocks something dark and horrifying deep in the abyss below this city."
