14 Jake made his way back to his camp, pondering the group of travelers he had encountered. After the stage robbery he had decided to make his way into Mexico with the extra horses. He had been cautious, taking the hardest trails and doubling back making sure he hadn’t been followed. Convinced no one was after him, he was under no time constraints. On his solo ride he had plenty of time to contemplate his future. He was considering settling south of the border, a large ranchero and a round, soft, warm Mexican wife the color of brown sugar. What could be wrong with that? His new found wealth would make him a prince in the old world. Based on the gear the entourage carried they were planning on mining.
