Chapter Eighteen
Trinity pulled away from Emery. “What about Kinnon and Lili?”
“You were all that was keeping Kinnon from saving his mother.” Emery took a cloth rucksack from the trunk and put the clothes from the trunk into it, along with a pocket watch. He stripped the blanket from the bed and rolled it up to strap it to the top of the rucksack before slipping his arms through the straps.
“What are you doing?”
“Leaving. I can’t stay here. What is it that Lili’s sons need?”
“An antidote for a Petrification enchantment.”
The scent of Emery’s magic momentarily filled the room and he held out what looked like a piece of bark. “I’ll leave you somewhere safe, but if you need me, call my name and it will help me find you.”
