CHAPTER 3
Unfortunately, I didn't get my phone today. I couldn't find Clara and her team, or her boyfriend, after school. I reported it to the principal, but he didn't even retaliate, saying, "I lost it or something." I was so stressed. I have no money for a new phone right now. Why do I always have to have a bad day?
Plus, my shift at the cafe was extra stressful, especially with about three guys who tried hitting on me. They caused a fuss when I didn't give them my number. Do drunkards mistake cafes for bars now?My alarm went off a few times, but I refused to get up. Instead, I was thinking about my life choices, I have eight months and probably some weeks left to be totally done with these headaches. But eight months is too far ahead.
If they don't stop getting on my nerves, I will be tempted to break one of their small noses.I sighed deeply, climbing out of my bed. I swear I could grow old if I keep thinking like this. I was about to check my phone when I realized it wasn't on the nightstand. I panicked for a moment before I remembered.
"Oh yes, that bastard took it," I groaned, moving slowly toward the bathroom.
I barely had any sleep last night.I washed up and applied some lotion. It was cold this morning; I just pray it doesn't get hot later. I went over to my closet and grabbed the first thing I saw. A yellow dress, not too short but to my knee length. It was simple and pretty. This could work for today. If it gets hot later, it would backfire on me if I wore thick baggy trousers and shirts instead.
Since it's cold this morning, I grabbed a black jacket and put it over the gown. I did everything in a hurry when the clock hit 7:40 AM. I grabbed my stuff, like my power bank, headphones, and note, because I knew I would get my phone today. If not, I'm definitely kicking asses. It's still early and I'm hungry.
I didn't eat last night, so I hurried to the kitchen. I scrambled eggs and toast with tea. I ate so fast, so when I swallowed, I almost choked. It was exactly 8: 05am when I left the house.
Getting to School ran to my first class. Luckily, the teacher wasn't there yet.
I moved to an empty front seat, feeling acutely aware of the gang seated in the very last row. I could feel their sharp stares—at least, from most of them. Why did they choose me out of everyone to pick on?The bell rang and I stood up, arranged my things, and left the class. Heading to my locker was my next destination. I opened it and got out the materials for my next class.
"Hey Lizzy," someone said right next to my ear, which startled me. I jumped a bit, turning to see Audrey.
"Could you not do that again? You startled me," I gasped, looking at her.
"I can't promise that." She grinned. Does her world revolve around butterflies or something? "Do you have English next?" she asked.
"Yeah, do you?"
"Totally! Let's go together." She grabbed my hands after I locked my locker, and we headed to English class. But wait! I stopped abruptly.
"What?"
"Umm, Clara and her boyfriend took my phone from me yesterday, and I need to get it back." I sighed, thinking about how I could do that.
"Are you serious? What the hell!" Audrey exclaimed.
"Hey, girlies." It was Jax. He was walking with Luca and Lucy.
"Isn't this a miracle? We all have English class together," Lucy announced.
"Yayy," Luca chuckled sarcastically.
"We do have an issue now," Audrey said in a serious tone. I turned to her with a raised brow.
"Oh no, what is it? Do I need to put on fight mode?" Lucy asked, her tone matching Audrey's seriousness.I stared at them, completely dumbfounded. What is it with this group that I've found myself stuck with?.
"Clara and her gang kidn*pped Lizzy's phone yesterday and didn't give it back," Audrey explained.
"Is that true?" Luca turned to me.
"Yeah, they kinda snatched it from my hands and walked away," I explained.
"Did you tell the principal?" Jax asked."Yes, I did, and guess what? He said maybe I lost it," I scoffed, remembering his words."That old duck," Audrey groaned.
"This means we are in full battle mode," Lucy said.
"You're in what?" I asked.
"We still have like fifteen minutes before English. I don't like fighting, but we should approach them to hand Lizzy's phone back," Luca said. Really, they are going with me, they really are true friends.
"I saw their group at the garden not long ago," Lucy said.
We went to the garden afterward. It felt good to know a few people had my back. I spotted them seated on the chairs over there—all of them. Easton had his arms wrapped around Clara with a lit cigarette between his fingers.
"Oh, look what we have here," Clara laughed. Easton's eyes met mine, though they were completely void of any emotion. He didn't even smile or find this funny.
"So, looks like the nerd made new friends" it was Ivy this time."
I scoffed and reached out my hand. "Give it back."
"Give what back?" Clara smirked.
"The phone, b***h," Lucy snarled.
"What did you just call me?" Clara looked at Easton, expecting some reaction, but he just dragged on his cigarette. Clara stood up and faced us.
"I'm sure you guys don't want to involve your s**t with her," Knox smirked at Audrey. "She's just some regular scholarship student," he added, laughing.
Come on, is this dude twelve or something? This isn't middle school."Shut up, you b***h! Why are you all so immature?" I deadpanned, rolling my eyes.
"Look at her, all confident since her friends showed up," Ivy said.
"I didn't see any of this attitude yesterday," Mara added .
"Hey, Easton, give her phone back. I know you don't want to do this," Luca tried talking to Easton, acting like a nonchalant coward. "Isn't he even ashamed or something?"Easton stood up.
"You know nothing about me, dude," he said to Luca. He checked his watch. "I'm out of here." He started going away.Clara held his hands, stopping him. He gave her a harsh glare and she let go. Aren't they dating or something?
"You know better than to miggle with them, Clara, and stop dragging me into it," Easton said calmly, Gaze fixed on me.
"But you had no issue taking her phone yesterday," Clara frowned, crossing her arms.
Easton's lips lifted slightly.
"I'm just not in the mood to give the phone back. Let's head to class," he said to Clara, looking like he would walk away if she didn't follow. I rolled my eyes. Clara faced me and pulled my phone out of her bag, carelessly dropping it on the floor.
"This ain't over, b***h," she said in a harsh tone. I picked my phone up.
"Mess with her and you mess with us, bitches!" Lucy yelled, laughing.
"Remind me again how rich you guys are," I chuckled, cleaning Clara's touch off of my phone.
"We are smoking rich" Jax smirked , wiggling his brows.
"No, combined we don't match Easton, but he knows better than to cause trouble with all of us," Luca explained.
"Why?" I asked, curious about the situation.
"Because it may sort of involve our parents, and that wouldn't be good," Audrey said.
"Let's head to class now," Lucy groaned, sounding like she was already exhausted.
We went back to class. Walking back, I thought that maybe this wouldn't be so bad. I don't have to look over my shoulder as often with friends like them by my side. But not to forget, I still missed my phone. I wondered if they did anything to hurt my baby.
