13 years later (almost)

Alicia’s P.O.V I was running through the forest for so long, it was a wonder I haven’t collapsed yet. Branches and thick vines were scraping up my legs, and thick beads of blood ran down. I couldn’t stop though, not if I wanted to live. I was being hunted. I could feel deep down in my bones the end was coming near. I woke with a jolt just as I saw a cliff coming up, my alarm blaring in my ear. It was 6 AM on a Sunday morning, and I had lots of work to do at the pack house. The Alphas son was returning tomorrow and the family wanted everything perfect. I rolled out of my bed, groaning and stretching to work the stiffness out of my joints. I picked out my clothes for the day, a baggy black tee shirt covered in old stains and a pair of faded black skinny jeans, and headed for the shower. After cleaning myself up, I brushed my teeth and hair, and through my hair up in a bun. Studying myself in the bathroom mirror I could see how much older I looked. Tomorrow happened to be my birthday, and the only time the Alpha was allowing me to shift. I was excited. I wanted to see my wolf so badly, and finally hopefully have at least her as a friend. I daydreamed of what she would look like. She would probably have the same dark chocolate colored hair as mine, and same dull green eyes. I was turning 13 tomorrow, but I looked old. Weathered from years of abuse from my pack. I was 5’7”, but only 103 pounds. My skin clung to my bones, due to a lack of eating. The pack didn’t feed my mother and I well, only allowing us to have the scraps of their meals. We had to live far outside of the town, and I was permitted to go to school once a week. That barely got me by academically, and I always had to have that hole week of homework done prior to my one day of school, so I’m mainly homeschooled by my mom when I don’t have to work at the pack house. “Alicia!” My mom yelled from downstairs. I winced, covering my ears. She obviously forget that I’m a werewolf sometimes and our hearing is extremely sensitive. “Get your ass moving, you’ve got a lot of work to do today!” “I know mom,” I yelled back, giving her a taste of her own medicine. “ I’m almost done getting ready, I’ll be down in 5 minutes!” “Okay honey, breakfast is ready,” she said lowering her volume. I giggled to myself knowing she got the point. I threw my socks and sneakers on and ran downstairs. My breakfast consisted of 1 close to being bad egg and a piece of toast, then I was out the door, knowing what a horrendous day lay ahead of me.
