Broken

I had time today to get things in order for tomorrow, so I didn’t rush through my cleaning. My body was still sore, but miraculously it healed way faster today then usual. I still had to pretend I was in a lot of pain though, because an omega werewolf normally takes a lot longer to heal. I figured that because tonight I was supposed to shift, my body was preparing and making sure I was capable for the shift. Normally, my mother and I are banned from shifting, in case we got snarky and decided to try and defend ourselves. But the Alpha gave me permission for tonight, because he knew he held no power over the shift. It would take hours of excruciating pain, but it would be well worth it. With my excitement egging me on, I worked through my last bit of cleaning. As I was putting stuff back on my cart to get ready and go home, I heard cheering coming from outside. I took a gander out the window, and saw the most incredible man I’ve ever seen. I knew this must have been Matthew Mc’Caine, the Alphas son. The pack would cheer for no other. At 6 foot 11, he was amongst the tallest of our kind. He had brilliant blonde wavy hair, that fell down to his shoulders, and the most beautiful forest green eyes. And he was pure muscle. Before today I’ve never laid eyes on him, but I knew who he was just by hearing others speak of him. Woman dreamed to be his Luna, men wished to be him. He’s been away for many years, training to take over for his father. One of the few Alphas the Elders took an interest in training, to be part of the Elite. Only the strongest of Auras were hand selected for this great honor, and every Alpha in his blood line has been blessed with this gift. As the soon-to-be Alpha of the largest pack in the world, he was also considered a prince. And, at the age of 18, he should be able to find his mate. I watched as his nose lifted into the air, and his brilliant eyes followed to where I stood. I knew then that he had found his mate. And it was me. “I’m only soon to be 13!” I shouted to myself in my head. “ Oh Goddess, you have forsaken me once again. I know he will reject me. I’m too young, and just an omega,” and with that thought I silently fell to my knees and cried. Once my tears had dried up, I went downstairs to face my new demons. The ones I knew would break me. As I was rounding the corner at the bottom, mysteriously his scent hit me. “So weird,” I thought. “I shouldn’t be able to sense my mate til I’m 18!” With this thought on my mind, I didn’t even realize I was about to walk into something.... or someone. A hand clamped around my mouth and waist, hoisted me up and carried me to the nearest broom closet. Shutting and locking the door, he turned to me. Matthew. Staring into his forest green eyes, the first thing that struck me was adoration, then quickly changed to that of shock and anguish. “What’s your name, little one?” He asked, gently. “Alicia,” I responded quickly, wondering what he was about to do. “Alicia, I’m so sorry, but I have to do this. You’re far to young and weak for a mate, especially an Alpha like me. Alicia, with my deepest regrets, I, Matthew Mc’Caine, soon to be Alpha of the Green Valley Pack, reject you, Alicia, as my mate. May the Goddess be by your side,” he whispered, wiping tears off my face. And with that single sentence, I broke.
