Chapter Thirteen

Colton was still on the train headed to Lucas’ house when his phone rang. He checked the number, frowning a little when he didn’t recognize it. Instead of answering it, he let it go to voicemail. He wasn’t sure who it was or whether he wanted to talk to them or not. Either way, he was still busy looking through the requests, trying to find the ones that were coded. When his phone buzzed to let him know he had a new voicemail, he hit the notification and played the message. It was Barrick. He made a face as he listened, not sure why Barrick had called him instead of sending him an email. “Colton, this is Barrick. Call me ASAP! I have a few things I want to talk to you about.” Great, Colton thought silently. He had probably found out he was dating Addie on the side or Daddy had called to complain again. He sighed softly, hitting redial on the unknown number to call Barrick back. If he was going to get fired, he wanted to get on with it. It was less stress that way. When Barrick answered, Colton cringed at the sound of his voice. He wasn’t afraid of the man, he just couldn’t stand him. Not after the Meet-and-Greet. “This is Colton,” he said, keeping it short and sweet. “Do you have time to meet with me?” Colton took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “Sure. At the office?” “No, no. At my place.” “Uh... sure?” At his place? Why would he invite him there? “It’s just more secure and private. I don’t want anyone to overhear what I’ve got to say.” “All right. Message the address and I’ll be over as soon as I can.” Colton was so confused. What did Barrick have to say to him that he couldn’t either say over the phone or at the office? If he planned to fire him he didn’t need to invite him to his house to do it. “Okay. Give me a few minutes and I’ll text you.” Barrick hung up quickly, not giving Colton a chance to say anything else. “f*****g moron,” Colton mumbled after he lowered his phone from his ear. True to his word, in less than a few minutes Barrick texted back with his address. Colton’s eyebrows rose when he realized that Barrick lived in Tribeca. What the f**k was he complaining about money for if he lived in an area like that? What a d**k. No, not just a d**k, Colton thought to himself, what a greedy d**k. For the second time that day he switched trains to change direction, then got off at Franklin Street and walked the rest of the way to the building. He nodded to the doorman who held the door for him, then walked up to the desk inside the lobby. He felt like he was in some executive building instead of a residential one, but he just gave the guy a smile and told him who he was there for. “Ah yes. Mr. Covington is expecting you.” Barrick probably liked having this guy around, he thought to himself as he followed the concierge to the elevator. The man swiped his badge to call it down, letting them both inside once it arrived. Colton stood next to him and watched as he hit the button for the penthouse suite. Guess prostitution really did pay off. The doors opened up directly into a huge living area. The entire far wall was made of glass, giving him a great view of the Hudson and the skyline of Lower Manhattan. From his guess, the view alone had cost Barrick upwards of thirty million dollars. If you added in the furniture and the art, you could get a good idea of the money Barrick made off the backs of everyone at Casual Companions. “Thank you for coming.” Colton turned from admiring the view at the windows and looked at Barrick as he walked into the room. “No problem.” The fact that Barrick wasn’t ranting or raving confused him. He had been sure that Barrick was going to call him out on the whole Addie thing, but the way he was acting made him think this was about something else. “Would you like a drink?” Without waiting for an answer Barrick walked over to the bar and poured himself a glass of gin. “No, thank you.” Barrick nodded and picked up his glass, then walked back over and motioned to the chairs nearby. He waited until Colton sat down before sitting across from him, watching him over the rim of his glass as he took a drink. “I don’t mean to be rude, sir,” Colton said after a few minutes of silence, “but what is this about?” Barrick smiled and put his glass down on the table between them. “Before we speak I need your word that what’s said here is just between us.” “Of course, sir.” Colton was more confused than ever. For the life of him he couldn’t figure out why Barrick was acting so strange. Whatever the reason, his behavior put him on edge and he was beginning to think he’d made the wrong decision to meet with him. “Good.” Barrick visibly relaxed as he sat back in his chair. “You recently replied to a request for a party paying two grand.” Colton was shocked, but didn’t show it. How would he know that? Barrick had called him less than five minutes after he had applied for the request. f*****g stalker. “I did,” Colton confirmed, trying his best to keep the tightness and irritation out of his voice. “Well, those parties aren’t for everyone. They have certain requirements.” Barrick fished a little, seeing if Colton knew what kind of party he had applied for and if he was okay with it. “If I’m not allowed to apply for the party, I understand. I also apologize if I stepped on anyone’s toes or intruded where I don’t belong.” Colton wanted to be as professional as he could be even though he was pissed off and irritated with Barrick. “No, no... it’s not that.” Barrick held his hands up. “I just want to make sure you have an idea about what you’ve actually applied for. The people who make these requests are very specific about what they’re looking for. If they’re shopping for a product and we don’t deliver said product just because someone doesn’t understand the job requirements...” Now it made sense. Colton knew exactly why Barrick had invited him there. He wanted to make sure Colton knew this was a s*x party. These people were buying s*x, and Barrick wanted to make sure he was all right with giving it. “I understand the job requirements, sir. Believe me, I’ll do my duty with a smile on my face,” Colton said with a grin. He had no problem with f*****g hot chicks for cash. No problem at all. Barrick laughed a little and nodded. “Great. I’ll let them know you’re on the right side of the fence, then. I'll send you the details tomorrow.” “Great.” He’d just been vetted and had passed. That made Colton happy. He was all about making money. He wanted to go to all the high paying parties he could get into, even if that meant f*****g everyone there. s*x was just that to him... s*x. It didn’t mean anything, it was a release, and it was something he enjoyed doing. Why not do it for money? As long as he was safe about it, who cared how many people he f****d? Even if he had to do a few blowjobs, he didn’t care. Hell, he was already a gold medalist in the c**k Sucking Olympics. He’d just apply some of the skill he’d used to get the gold. People would love him. “Just a few things before I call them back to let them know you’re down.” Barrick picked his glass up and sat forward. “Don’t talk about these parties to anyone. Not your friends, not your family, and definitely not the other employees. These parties are completely off the books. The requests are there for tax purposes only. You’ll still get a  payout through us, a few tips here and there, but the majority of your pay will be cash. I know I said never to take cash from anyone. These people are the exception. You’ll be tipped all night long by people. That money belongs to you. I don’t care how much you make as long as you get your pay through us for each job and taxes are paid on it. Pissing with the IRS will only bring s**t our way. Believe me.” Colton nodded, listening to everything Barrick said. He sounded like he knew about the IRS from experience. “There are rumors flying around about these parties. But it’s all right because it’s nothing but talk. No one has any concrete evidence, and those who know the truth get paid way too much to say anything. Rumors going around about clients paying to f**k is one thing, but knowing it happens is an entirely different beast altogether. Plus, it’s illegal as hell and we could all go to jail. Let’s just keep it at that. Rumors.” “Right. I won’t say anything, Barrick.” If it meant losing his job or losing a big ass payout, his lips were sealed. “Good,” Barrick stood and put his empty glass aside. “Because I don’t want you to get in trouble. You getting in trouble brings trouble my way, and if you bring trouble my way...” Colton stood and walked with Barrick toward the elevator. “Don’t worry about it. I won’t say anything to anyone.” “I’m glad you’re cool with this, Colton. I knew once you had a few months under your belt you’d loosen up a little.” Barrick ran his eyes down Colton’s body, smiling as he got to the bulge in his pants. “I might just have to make a request to spend some time with you.” Colton instantly felt uncomfortable. Barrick being his boss was one thing, Barrick requesting to spend time with him was a can of worms he sure as f**k didn’t want to open. Barrick stared at him for a long moment and then called the elevator. “The only people they allow into these parties are people who have been vetted by me. This is very exclusive and you can make a s**t ton of money. To be invited back you have to make a good impression.” Barrick turned toward Colton and put his hands on his shoulders as he looked him in the eye. “You will make a good impression right, Colton?” Colton forced himself to give Barrick a beautiful smile. “Of course I will, sir. You can count on me to always satisfy the customer.” He grinned at his play on words and tried not to shrug Barrick’s hands off his shoulders. “Good,” Barrick said as the elevator door opened. “Great talk. Call me and let me know how it goes.” Colton got into the elevator and turned, looking back at Barrick before giving him a nod. “I will. Talk to you then.” “Have a good night,”  Barrick said as the doors closed. Colton’s mind worked in overdrive the entire ride down to the lobby, during the walk to the train station, and half the ride to Lucas’ place. He still couldn’t believe what had just happened. Not only had he found out there were s*x parties being held, but he’d learned Barrick knew about it and was the one vetting people to work them. No one knew about them except those who worked the events. If it got out it would threaten Casual Companions as a company and Barrick as a person, not to mention all the workers who had agreed to be a part of it. Fuck, he bet there was a s**t ton of money to be made. He didn’t know yet what all was involved, but after his experiences with Liam, Kitten, and Daddy, he was sure he could handle anything. And Barrick. He knew he was a slippery little f**k before all this but he didn’t had the evidence to prove it. Now he had it. Now, he knew they were just a glorified s*x service and Barrick was their pimp. Some people walked the streets to sell their ass and some people like Barrick gift wrapped it and gave it away to the highest bidder. It was genius. Barrick was genius for thinking of a service like this. The only thing that upset him at this point was that he hadn’t thought of it himself.
