Chapter 10

3507 Words
Isabella’s POV  I spent the week grounded; I broke one of the guidelines of my grounding, so I got another week. It is Wednesday and my grounding ends on Thursday, I got Jase and Leo to agree to come to the field after school to ‘study’. I really just wanted out of the house and away from the little siblings of mine that are wearing me out. They want magic shows and because I have no excuse to get out of it I do it.  I grab my bag for school, and I push the giant magic book into my bag before I give up and carry my textbooks to fit the book in the bag. I get in the back seat of Ace’s car, that’s another part of my punishment is I can’t take my own car to school and to make sure that I come home right after school or after Ace’s football practice. I know Ace hates driving me to school but doesn’t say anything about it, that’s what makes him the most amazing twin that I wouldn’t trade for the world  After school I walk to the field that is in the neutral lands, which just means it’s for everyone. The one thing to really look out for are the rogues but there are not many around anymore. I lay out a blanket I  brought with me, I sit down and take out the magic book. I flip through the pages reading till I found a cloaking spell.  I close my eyes and relax my mind; I imagine myself being nothing. I open my eyes to see nothing has changed. I give up on that spell because most of the spells in the book are for witches but I’m not a witch exactly. I do have some witch like abilities, but I can’t do witch spells most of my powers in nature bound. I pick a flower that was beside me, I hold it in my hand clearing my mind once again.  I close my eyes, seconds later I feel the flower lift out of my hands. I imagine the flower growing and blooming into a beautiful flower. I feel something touch me and I open my eyes. The flower I was floating had burst into flames leaving nothing behind but ashes. I groan in irritation at myself. “That was really good.” Says a very familiar voice. “It would have worked if you hadn’t scared me like that, Jase.” I say in a huff. “I’m sorry.” He kisses my head and sets a lovely white lily in my hands. “Here try again.”  I smile and close my eyes one more time, I clear my mind and feel the lily leave my hands. I think of the life and the energy that flows through the flower. I imagine the flower blooming and the veins of the trees, the grass, and the wind. I feel the veins grow and wrap around me, and the grass take the flower to return it back to the earth. I let the warm hug from the veins were giving me to leave back to the trees and the earth. The wind still, I open my eyes to see lilies  blooming all over the field. “I did it.” I say in a whisper of amazement. “I knew you would.” Says a figure coming out of the woods.  It is Leo, he told me he was going to be a little late because he was going to the library after school to get a book of some kind. I stand up to hug Leo but fall back down to the ground, Jason catches me from falling on to the ground. My head feels like its spinning and everything turns blurry for a minute before it goes back to normal. “Isabella, are you ok?” Leo asks putting his hand to my forehead. “Yeah, I guess I just got up too fast.” I say.  I try to get up out of Jase’s lap but, he just holds me tighter. “Nope, you are going to sit for a while. How much power did you put into that flower?” Jase asks. “Not a lot. I learned how to do that when I was ten.” I tell them.  They made me sit and to not get up again for a while, I listen to then and stay put. We talk for a long time, Leo and Jase told me about growing up in Spain. There grandma was the one that taught them to speak Spanish. She also taught them how to cook, Leo got it but Jace didn’t. One of the older kids was the ones to teach Jase to play sports. I told them about how me and Pheebs meet and became friends due to being the odd ones out.  Phoebe is adopted from another pack; her original birth parents were killed by the alpha of their small pack. The alpha lost his mate and killed many members of the pack, his son overpowered him and became alpha. The new alpha couldn’t take care of all the pack members, so my dad offered to take in any willing to join. With me being a weird uncontrollable freak with powers and her not being a born pack member we became friends. We laid on the blanket talking more about our lives and what is some of our favorite things in life. Jace and I both love to run no matter what form and Leo and I both can’t stop ourselves from ever putting a good book down. I watch the sun slowly set behind the trees, and the reds and oranges dancing in the sky fading into the blackness. They both walked me to the pack borders. “See you two at school.” I say walking back into the border.  I walk to the front steps when I am ambushed, a mob of cheering kids. They we’re grabbing onto my clothes and climbing all over me. I sit down on the steps while I tell the kids about the story of the dragon prince. The dragon prince is an old legend I learned about a few years ago about a man cursed to be a dragon by the day but to be human by the night. One day a village girl saw the dragon shift into a man, she worked hard to get closer to him. He pushed her away out of fear he would hurt her, but her curiosity grew in to love. Her love broke his curse they later got married and united their kingdoms. “And they united their kingdoms. The end.” I finish the story.  A littlest girl, who was about 3 fell asleep in my lap while a little boy was asleep under my arm. The other little kids were sitting on the steps and on the ground. “I want to be your dragon prince!” A little boy stands up and says. “No! I want to be her dragon prince!” Another boy argues. “You all can be my dragon princes” I say to them. “Katherine!” A woman calls out. “Henry!” “Anna!”  The kids get up and run to their mothers calling for them. One of the mothers wearing a floured covered apron comes to get her little boy that has fallen asleep under my arm. She thanks me and walks away holding her baby. I scoop up the little girl I had asleep in my lap and start walking her to her home. I knock on the door; it swings open to reveal a petite blond woman who looks as tired as ever.  She sees me carrying her sleeping baby girl and smiles at me with appreciation. “Thank you so much, Isabella I was starting to get worried she might have wondered off again.” She says taking her baby girl to put her to bed. “Please come in. I have something for you to give to your mother.” “Of course, Mrs. Reeds.” I say.  I come in her home to see her new baby son in is highchair happily eating his banana slices. I walk over to him and he starts babbling. I talk back to him as if I know what he is saying. “Well look at that he likes you already, but I guess that comes with your talent with kids. I hear about you finding both of your mates I know how hard it is just to have one mate but two. I remember after Hanna’s father, Rick passed I was a mess but after I found my second mate, Tyler I felt blessed. It was still difficult to adjust.” She tells me. “It is hard knowing that there are two of them when everyone in the pack knew I had basically given up on finding even one mate.” I say. “Well it is almost dinner time after all so I should let you get on home.” She handed me the jar of herbs my mom gave her. “And please thank you mom again for letting me use her herbs it cleared up baby Masons rash in no time at all.” “Of course, Mrs. Reeds. Have a nice night.”  I got home, gave mom the herbs, had dinner, took a shower and headed to bed. I tried to sleep but every time I tried it felt as if my body was lit on fire. I know I wasn’t going into heat because it was too early. I went done stairs to my dad’s office; he wasn’t there at this hour because he knew mom would make him sleep in the doghouse. I started grabbing book after book, off the shelf and bring them to the desk to look through.  It’s been hours and the only thing I found that could possibly be close to an answer is the fact that I’m turning 18 on Friday. I sat there going through more books while I had made it freezing cold in the office. It was maybe 5 in the morning when my dad walked into his office. “What the h-.” He stopped himself from cursing when he saw me. “What’s going on Isabella?” “I don’t know, I’m burning up and I don’t know why.” I say. “Are you in um, heat?” He asked. “No, I’m not in heat I check it’s not like a heat, it’s more as if my powers are warming up my body to escape.” I say.  He nods and leaves, I roll my eyes and go back to reading. The door opened again to reveal a tired looking mom. She came up to me, she touched my forehead then my shoulders and hands. “She’s not in heat, but I can feel the pain her body is in. Can you please get my herb bag?” She asks.  My dad leaves and comes back holding my mom’s bag, she opens and takes out some herbs and a grinder. She grinds a bunch of herbs together into a paste, she scoops some into her hands and spread some on my forehead, hands, shoulders, and chest. I feel the heat lift from my body, my mom put the rest of the paste into a small container. She said to use it if or when the heat starts to come back. I get dress for school and head outside to my car, thinking what a way to start the day.  I get to school, and I had to take everything out of my locker as I feel a pounding headache coming on. Can this day get any worse? I slept through most of first hour, while Jase sat next to me rubbing my back. I didn’t tell him about the heat that hit me last night, I just told him about my headache. The heat didn’t come back, and I was thankful for that.  I sat with Jase, Leo, Pheebs, Ace, and Ethen. Pheebs talks on and on about how school is out on Friday and mine and Ace’s 18th birthday party is going  to be amazing. I zoned out for a while because for the last week mine and Ace’s birthday is the only thing, she’s been able to talk about. I came out of my zoned-out mood when I felt sparks run up my arm. I looked to see Leo trying to bring me back to reality before lunch was over.  The school day finally finished, and I stayed after school to practice aerial dancing. The boys tried to stay but I told them I just wanted some time alone. They were not happy about that, but they didn’t fight me on it. I was halfway through the dance when I felt as if I was spinning or was the room spinning but all I know was a second later everything was black, and I was falling. Leo’s POV  I sat at the kitchen island working on my calculus homework when the phone started to ring. I got up and answered it. “Wyatt’s pack house this is Leo. How can I help you?” I say into the phone. “Hello, this is Oliva I’m Isabella’s and Ace’s mom.” A women voice says. “Is there any chance that Isabella is with you and Jason?” “No, last time we saw her, she was at school. She said she wanted to practice alone.” I say. “That stubborn girl. Well, she is not home and is not answering her phone or mind links, is there anyway you can contact her?” She asks. “No, but me and Jason can go to the school and see if she is still there for you.” I say. “That’d be a big help, her dad is at the brink of sending out trackers to find her.” “it’s no problem, I’ll call you if I find her or not.” “Thank you so much.”  I hang up the phone and mind link Jason everything and, in a minute, he is yelling for me to get in the truck. I swear that anything that comes to Isabella he is like the flash on steroids. He drives like Isabella does on the regular. He pulls the truck to the gym entrance; we both jump out the truck and run into the gym. I am horrified to see Isabella laying on the mat unconscious of the world around her. We immediately run to her, I put my hands on her to try to wake her up, but her skin is so hot it’s like I was burned by a fire.  I take off my jacket and wrap her in it to pick her up. Jason grabs her bag and we both head to the truck. I sit in the back with Isabella, I take out a cool water bottle and got my hands wet and softly brushed the cool water on her face. She was still not responding, but it was too late because Jason was driving down the driveway to her pack house. I saw Isabella’s mom running out the house to meet us, me and Jason got Isabella inside the house and laid her down on the couch in the living room.  Her mom takes Isabella’s bag from Jason and dumps it out on the floor, she scrambles through the books, notebooks, paper, pens, and pencils. She finds a little container with some kind of paste in it. She takes some in her hands and rubs it on Isabella’s forehead, arms, hands, legs, and stomach. In seconds Isabella slowly started to open her eyes and blinks several times before looking over at her mom then to us. “What happened?” Isabella asks. “Your as stubborn as always.” Her mom says. “I had to call Leo to go find you because you hadn’t come home. They found you on the mat in the gym and I guess you blacked out due to the heat your body got too hot and you passed out.” She finishes.  Isabella sits up and starts to shake her head “No that’s not right, everything turned black and I…” She trailed off in thought.  She jumped up off the couch and got on her knees on the floor in front of her pile of school supplies. She grabs a pen and opens a notebook; she writes some symbols that look like a word almost. I watch her rip out the page and did another one and another. She gathered all papers and start to runs across the house to a big office, I follow behind her.  She sets the papers on the desk and went to the wall of books. She looked through a shelf and pulled an old book off the shelf and went to another shelf and grabbed another book.  She flips through the book with symbols that look like the ones she wrote, she moved them around. She closed that book and opened the other one, she ripped out the page. She balled it up in her hand and seconds later it busted into flames. A stream of blood start to run down from her nose. I hurried to her side in time to hold her up from falling. I sit her in the chair, I take a tissue from the desk and use it to wipe away the blood. “Thank you.” She says breathless. “I would do anything for you, but please try not to scare the living hell out of me.” I say. She nods her head, “I want to go to my room and lay down.”  I help her get up, she walks out the office and to the stairs. “You two coming with?” I look at Jason and he just shrugs his shoulders. “Why not” Jason says.  We start to follow Isabella when her mom shouts, “You three better keep that door open.” “Yes, mom.” Isabella yells back.  Isabella tells us she is going to jump in the shower really quick and to make ourselves comfortable. Jason automatically lays on the bed and opens her nightstand. I was going to stop him, but I was kind of curious too. All that was in her nightstand was a tv remote, pen and paper, calendar, and some sort of book in what looked to be French.  Isabella walks out of the bathroom drying her hair with a towel, she had on a baggy shirt that was mine or Jason’s and shorts. She came over and climbed in the bed, both me and Jason moved to the other end of the bed to give her space. “You know you don’t have to snoop through my things, I got nothing to hide.” She says. Jason jumps up from the bed, “Well in that case I’ll do some more snooping than.”  I watch him walk to her dresser and open the first drawer and then immediately close it. Isabella burst out laughing. “Like what you saw?” She asks him. “And here I thought you were innocent.” Jason says. “Far from it.” She mutters.  Jason sits back down on the bed; I give him a curious look but all he does is shake his head. “You know you really gave Leo a scare.” Jason says, “I was upstairs taking a nap when all I hear is Leo shouting my name through our mind link. I jump up thinking the house is on fire or something” I but in, “Yeah and as soon as I said that Isabella was missing you flew out the house to your truck like there really was a fire, under your butt.”  I hear Isabella burst out laughing and I can’t help but laugh too, soon enough Jason is laughing with us. “Well, it sounds like you three are having fun.” A strong male voice says.  I look at the doorway to see a largely built man standing at the door. I watch him walk over to where Isabella was sitting, she jumped up and wraps her arms around him. “How are you feeling, Little wolf?” He says. “I’m ok just a little tired.” She says. “Your mom told me what happened. What was on the page that you burned?” He asks, “If you don’t tell me I’ll just find out later.” He warrens her. “It was the legend of The Moon Reborn from The Fire.” She says.  The man’s face dropped,  “Are you sure?” “Yes, everything matched perfectly.” Isabella sat back down, “Well dad I want you to meet my mates Leo and Jason Wyatt. Leo and Jason meet my dad, Alexander Sin.”  I stand up and hold out my hand, he took my hand shaking it in a strong grip. He said he had work to do in his office. We talked for a little longer, Isabella was slowly drifting in and out of sleep. Jason and I agreed to leave her to sleep. Jason kissed her and said he’ll be waiting in the car. I sat on the bed next to a curled-up Isabella, I gave her a quick kiss on the lips. I pull away from her to leave when I am pulled back and my lips are once again united with hers. “See you tomorrow night at Ace’s birthday party ...” She muttered closing her eyes. “See you tomorrow, beautiful.” I say getting up to leave.
