Risen Chapter 15. Everything is different now — Through out the week Kara kept feeling as though she was being watched, maybe it was the fear getting the best of her but she was certain something was coming. But she couldn’t shake the thought of not being prepared, even if she knew every move in boxing and was an absolute champion. She had alot to learn and alot of fears to overcome, one of that fear being guns. She sighed as she stood behind the cashier, today Kelvin left the whole store to Kara, all he was doing was sleeping in his office. He had a really bad hang over from the birthday party his friends had thrown for him, he should not have partied that hard on a tuesday night but he did and he was facing the side effects. Kara looked up from the floor when she heard the door bell ring, a lady walked through the door with a book in hand. She was dressed in a blue simple dress, her hair tied in a bun. She approached Kara at the front desk, placing the book down she spoke. “I would like to return this book.” Kara got the book into her own hands, “Purchased or borrowed it?” she asked going through the book, it looked in good shape there wouldn’t be a problem returning it. “Borrowed.” Kara at hearing those words, she went over to the computer entering the book code. The book was under the name of Ariana black, Kara looked from computer to the lady, “Ariana black?” the lady agreed with a nod. “Just leave it over there.” Kara pointed to the cart, then she proceeded with updating the data when it was returned and clearing Ariana of posing the book anymore. Ariana still stood there looking at Kara with complete mesmerized, Kara cleared her throat. “Is there anything more you want?” it was getting a bit uncomfortable for her, the staring. Ariana smiled at Kara, “No, you’re just really pretty and I haven’t seen you around here before, are you new.” Kara had never been a fan of compliments, they just made her feel weird. “No, I’ve been working here for a while.” Ariana’s smile grew brighter, Kara shrugged trying to shake off her nerves, she didn’t like where it was going. “Would you like to go—” “I kindly decline your offer ma’am.” she cut Ariana short in the most nicest way she knew. Ariana looked lost, she didn’t even have time to finish off her sentence. “You’re not gay?” she asked Kara, she knew it was disrespectful to assume Kara was a lesbian but Kara had amused her all she wanted was to hang out with her. Kara huffed, “I most certainly am.” she tired her best to not sound sarcastic but a hint was still there. When Ariana heard her she seemed even more lost, “Then?” she found herself asking as though she didn’t know the answer. A customer walked up to the two, Kara looked at Ariana with a light smile. “Not interested.” she checked the book for the customer beside Ariana, when she finished she handed it back. “Here you go, enjoy your book.” the customer smiled then took the book, with that they left. “I don’t get it.” Ariana admitted while scratching the back of her ear. Kara turned to the computer saving the details she had entered before, with a sigh she spoke, “Me too.” “Are we talking about the same thing.” Ariana asked curious as to why Kara agreed, maybe they were on the same page. Kara shook her head in disapproval, “No, don’t you have something better to do.” Kara narrowed eyes at her. Ariana leaned against the counter, her hands supporting her head, she smiled brightly. “Nop, I can stare at you all day.” Kara pointed towards the tables, signalling Ariana to go there. “Then do it far away, I’m working.” she did as told and actually stayed staring at Kara feet away, Kara glared at the lady but she pretended like none of it was wrong. For the rest of the day Kara kept helping customers, while Ariana kept staring at her. At times Kara would find her on her phone, whether it was by the fact that she was uncomfortable she swore Ariana was taking pictures of her. Kara turned when she heard footsteps coming from behind her, it was Kelvin he was finally looking alive then before. “What time is it?” he asked Kara while rubbing his eyes, he walked up to Kara and stood beside her behind the cashier. She looked at the time on her phone, “3:30 pm.” To confirm Kara’s time he checked his own phone and it was 3:30 pm, the day flew by real quick. “Wow, did you have your lunch break?” he already knew the answer to that, she didn’t have lunch at all and who could blame her she had a stalker watching her. She rubbed the back of her neck, “No I wasn’t hungry.” which was a total lie, she was starving since morning but she didn’t want to eat. Kelvin nodded then his eyes drifted to Ariana on the other side, she had a smile on and her eyes didn’t leave either of them. Kelvin patted Kara on the shoulder, “Uh Kara, why is she staring at us?” Kara turned facing Ariana for a while then Kelvin, she bit her lower lip thinking of an excusable lie but found none. “She isn’t okay up there.” she spoke as she pointed to Ariana’s head, even though she tried whispering the gesture was quiet visible to Ariana. She got up from her seat, “Excuse you!” she shouted a bit more pissed then she should have been. The girl walked up to them, her attention on Kelvin. “She won’t go out with me, so I’m staying till she says yes.” at that moment Kara wished she chased her off, Kelvin didn’t need to know that at all. Kelvin turned to Kara a bit shocked by the news, “Wait you’re a lesbian?” not the question Ariana was expecting but it did have to do in a way. Ariana giggled then rolled her eyes, “Duh, can you convince her?” she pouted even though Kara was glaring at her, which was no use at all at this point. She shrugged choosing to ignore both their questions she took off her apron, “You’re taking over?” she was asking Kelvin but at moment he was immobile, she took that as an okay so she spoke on. “Okay I’ll be ... Somewhere.” she looked at Ariana up and down then went out to grab her bag. Kara was out and ready to go her bag pack hanging over her shoulder, Ariana blocked her way. “Just say yes.” she pleaded but Kara pushed her to the side then walked to the door. “Where are you going?” Kelvin asked, finally he was out of shock. She turned and faced him, “Home, I’m done here.” then she was out of the door but the thing was she had to run so that someone wouldn’t follow. Kara arrived finally at her apartment with no sign of anyone following her, she turn the knob on the door. It was peach black when she closed the door behind her, but something didn’t feel right at all. She switched on the lights expecting someone to jump her she put her guard up, she was met by an empty room. She tip toed through the room, her gut still telling her something was definitely not right even though everything was in place. She walked all the way to her room opening the door slowly, without further warning she received a punch in the gut that lead to fall to the cool floor. She laid on the floor coughing and hugging her stomach, it was unbearably painful. As she laid on the floor hopeless, a lot of thoughts running her mind on how Marcus would be really disappointed. A couple of hands about four grabbed her, that’s when she fought back. A punch landed on one guys jaw leaving her to deal with the other one, she punch him in the gut a couple of times and received some herself but she still stood. As she was battling the two guys one appeared from behind her knocking her out, Kara fell on the ground again with a pounding head. They held her up from both her shoulders, her knees on the ground. With the blow she had received, she was feeling a bit light headed. “What do you want.” she whispered with a bloody mouth, none of the guys spoke then the door swung open. At that moment a feminine body appeared through the door, even through the tears and the blood Kara could see who exactly it was. “Hello fiancée, missed me?” Kara instantly blacked out after those words, drop let's of blood dripping from her forehead.
