Risen Chapter 19. Just the beginning — Kara the next day returned to work after Alex forced her, something about keeping her life normal. Kara knew it was a way to get her out of the way keep her busy as possible. The only thing Kara had to worry about was Kelvin, since she cancelled in a way her therapy sessions, she was only required to be at work in time. She still kept in touch with Kelly, not as her therapist anymore just as friends. Kara after a long trip of returning books in place, she sat down on the floor. She wanted the day to pass by quick only so that she could see Alex again and lay in bed with her. Today was a slow day for the shop, it almost being noon had received the smallest amount of customers. From a distance Kara heard footsteps approach where she was, Kelvin appeared with his friendly smile. “I’m going to lunch a bit early today.” Kara looked up she looked surprised, he was too well dressed. Kara looked him up and down, he was well dressed for more than lunch with himself, “A date huh?” she asked pointing his finger up and down his attire. He looked at himself one more time not believing he was doing this, he looked at Kara once more, “Well sort of.” then she immediately knew what it was about, he was going on a blind date again. Kelvin turned to leave, “Keys are on the counter, lock up when you’re down today I won’t be back.” Kara looked annoyed at the thought, how could he expect her to stay while he was not going to come back, there was no point. “Why do I have to stay then.” she pouted. “Because I’m the boss and I say so.” Kelvin said with a smirk on his face, he always pulled I’m the boss card when he was skipping the day. Kara huffed in annoyance, “Real mature kelvin.” she spoke irritated. “Yeah yeah, bye see you monday.” he waved her off, then he started walking towards the door. “Sure nice date, put up the closer sign will you!” Kara shouted from the other side of the store. “Remember to move it after you’re done with lunch Kara.” Kelvin knew Kara well, she would either leave before time or spend the whole day sleeping in the shop. “I’ll try.” she mumbled but he heard her, well most of it to be exact. Kelvin sighed his hand still on the door knob, “Already regretting this.” he whispered, he turned the sign to close then out the he was. Kara now slept on the floor facing the ceiling, her mind wondering on everything that had happened in the past months. She wondered on how things would turn out if they dealt with Alex’s big problem, would they just automatically go back to normal would they ever be normal again. As she was reminiscing about everything the bell to the store rang, Kara sat up thinking who I could be entering a store that said closed. Kelvin wasn’t going to come till later which meant it was a customer. She got off the floor walking towards the front, she walked with caution maybe it was a robber but at noon unbelivable. “Who ever you are, we’re closed read the damn sign.” she spoke approaching the front. Kara froze when she saw a highly unlikely man in the store, with his slender body filled with a few tattoo on both his arms, it was evident he went to the gym time and time. That was not the reason Kara felt uncomfortable, his face showed no emotion he looked dead serious. Kara scratched the back of her neck a bit nervous, “I’m guessing you’re not here to borrow a book.” He smirked, how could she not see he was just there to finish off what his brother didn’t finish. Kara a bit creeped out took a few steps back then began running to the book shelves, far away from him. He ran after her then eventually caught up, Kara was caught between running and fighting, well running wasn’t an option she was cornered. He threw the first blow at her which she successfully dodged in return she launched at him managing to grab him by the head, her knee punching him in the gut. He fell back leaving a bit of room for her to escape through, the guy was keen to her escape he grabbed her by her shoulder throwing her to the ground. Kara landed hard on the ground her ear drums ringing due to the unbearable pain her body felt, he grabbed her on both sides of her shirt bringing her to head level. “I have no times for games kid.” he spoke, his voice raspy and dry. Kara giggled through the pain, “Who said we’re playing.” with that she head bumped him, the guy tripped to the floor. Kara rubbed her forehead as it was throbbing, “That was a f*****g bad idea.” she got off the floor with a possible broken rib and a throbbing head, a wave of nauseous came rushing in then the room went peach black. Kara rubbed against her eyes when she opened them her vision had returned, but the guy was not on the floor anymore. As Kara was looking up she received a heavy blow in the jaws which caused her to take a few steps back. She wasted no time, she threw her own punches his way. One successfully missed him but the second one was right on his nose. A cracking sound came from the impact it left Kara a bit satisfied with herself. He bleed out in his palms, he looked mortified at the sight of blood, Kara was surely going to pay. He wiped away his blood then charged at Kara, left and right he threw punches at her some she dodged but others landed on her successful. With one pinch in the gut Kara fell into the nearest book shelf causing all the books to land on her, She had enough of being thrown around the store it was time to end it. She got off the ground once more with all her strength she jumped the tall guy, in an attempt to choke him she held her left arm tightly with the right then tighten the grip. He put up a fight, he swerved right to left trying to throw Kara off but her hold on him was strong. He ripped her arms off him and once more Kara was on the ground, with that advantage she swooped him off his feet. She wasted no time, Kara seized his head with legs crossing with a her strength she began to choke him. She held his arm with both her hands, she choked him untill there was no further movement from him. Once she was sure he was totally unconscious, Kara got off the floor searching for a hard object in the store she came across a vase. She walked up to his body then broke it on his head, “Just to make sure.” she said when he didn’t move. Kara stood over his body with a throbbing body and blood, the store was now not a peeling to the eye, the good thing was he wasn’t going to be back till Monday Alex would help. Speaking of Alex Kara had to tell her of the encounter, she limped over to the desk grabbing her phone she dial Alex’s number. Alex answered at the first ring, “I think....” she looked at the store one more time, the guy still unconscious she swallowed hard. “He found me.” she spoke into the phone, everything had to change now.
