Chapter 2; The struggle

1289 Words
Sandra Today was my first day in Bright student campus. I have always dreamt of joining this school ever since I started studying. It is the best school in my country with countless rich and bright students from other countries. I have always topped in my previous Envision school, and I was always awarded the best student each year. My family can't meet the required fees needed for me to enrol, and thus, I had to work hard to get a scholarship to join this school. I have, of course, tried my level best, and yeah, I was awarded this scholarship by the Martins Cooperate as I passed their test and requirements required for scholarship. I was fascinated by the interior of the school. Students were always arriving in fancy cars and bikes driven by their chauffeurs. I felt left out as I walked all the way to school. It made me wish I was among the lucky, born with silver spoons in their mouths. I walked around the school, admiring not noticing the elapsed time. As it came to my realisation, ninety percent of students were in class, and I was left wondering where my class was. I was shy to ask my fellows where my class was, and thus, I had to wonder, searching for it. I felt stranded. I saw a security personnel and asked for directions. He sized me up but offered help. I sprung to the direction and reached my class only to hear the teacher calling my name. I responded with a "present" while being at the door. I was met with thousands of eyes that were digging through my soul. I felt small on their gazes and wished I was able to disappear. Suddenly, they busted into laughter, leaving me confused. Only a few weren't laughing, and I knew they were the mature and reasonable people in this class. The teacher shushed them up and asked me why I was late. I had to lie on my first day , as who the hell in their right mind would agree that they were entering a luxury school for the first time and lost track of time while being fascinated by the school architect. I told the teacher that I delayed getting the class details, thus leading to my lateness. I knew the teacher clearly knew i was lying, but to save me face, he played along with my lie. I heaved a sign of relief and stood upright. The teacher asked me to go find a seat and make myself comfortable. I did as told and found myself an empty seat near a blonde guy with spectacles. He offered me a smile and asked me to feel free. He introduced himself as Resley. He offered a handshake, and I took it ready to say my name. Umm, my name is...."There is no need to tell me," Resley interrupted, "I already know you Sandra".He said that following with a wink. I was shocked to death. Have we met in our previous life? I asked him. He looked at me as if I was a lunatic and busted to laughter, earning the classes attention. "No, you silly, "he responded while laughing. The teacher called your name multiple times while you were not in class, and with that, everybody in class knows your name by now, Sandra. I offered a silly smile, looking stupid. The teacher had not yet left. He asked us to familiarise ourselves with each other and be friendly as this semester will be very busy. Everyone responded with a "yes sir" and kept quiet. The teacher kept on giving rules for the school, I listened attentively while others were busy checking their phones. The teacher didn't seem bothered and with that he left the class. On his departure, students started turning to each other telling stories, others playing video games, some sleeping, others reading, some putting on makeup, some running around. I was shocked to even see some couple being lovey dovey, which made me nauseous. How the hell do you get courage to do so I front of your fellow classmates? Resley noticed my facial reaction and smiled at me. I came to a realisation that Resley was the nerdy type whom people avoided. With that, I knew we would be great friends cause, yeah, i also love reading. Resley then looked at me and started introducing other people to me. I didn't see the need for him to introduce them to me as I plan to have no contact with them as much as possible, not wanting the "luxury life" be planted in my mind deviating me from my studies. But yeah! where will I get the voice to say no? I just had to listen to him rambling their names and their whatevers that I didn't pay no mind. After Resley finished, we exchanged contact information, and he shared the course outline with me. I perused the outline and tried fitting it in my beautiful mind. After around two hours of doing nothing, the break bell rang. Students dashed out in partners and left to God knows where. I planned to sit in class while getting familiar with the classroom. Resley nudged me by his elbow, asking if he could walk me around campus. I smiled and agreed. As I stood up, I came crashing into someone. Our head bumped, and i felt an immense pain piercing my head. I frowned, ready to confront the person only to be met with a god looking face with the sexiest eyes on the whole universe. All the curses that were to come out of my mouth were stuck on my throat. No way, how can such a beautiful creature exist on planet Earth? No! I must be dreaming. I pinched myself to return to reality only to realise yeah, I was in reality. I can't let him go just because he is handsome, no way. I opened my mouth, ready to give him a verbal lesson only to be distracted by screams outside. The guy just brushed past me and bumped me with his shoulder while going out. I felt like exploding, not even a sorry? how rude.I kept mumbling to myself. Resley was staring at me, wondering what the heck was wrong with me. I felt comfortable around Resley, and I couldn't stop myself from releasing hundreds of curses while walking. He just looked at me smiling, and I felt like adding him on the pot .The so handsome whoever went to the screams and placed his hands on two ladies' shoulders while going out. From afar, I could definitely discern that the girl's limbs were weak from their mode of walking. I continued with Resley walking down the school hall, and he kept telling me all about the school. He seemed like a good friend. After having an induction with Resley, I offered to buy him coffee in which he agreed. We headed to the school cafeteria, and he suddenly asked me to sit down he would go bring us something to eat. I found a table for 4 and settled there awaiting Resley, who seemed to be gone for hours. In reality, it was only 7 minutes. Suddenly, three girls came to me asking me to depart from where I was seated. I looked at them as if they were some lunatics. One of the ladies came and sat on the table in front of me and crossed her legs. She deeply looked at me and smiled. She took my chin and lifted it up, I smiled ,it dawned on me they were bully's whom Resley referred to then as the Essential Four, but how come they are three?
