"Are you okay?" Spencer asked, which made me turn to look at him.
I saw that he was confused by my reaction, so instead of ignoring him, I just nodded my head.
I let him take me home. Spencer told me that there was an event that he and his parents had to attend. I told him that he didn't have to take me home, but he insisted. He threatened me that he would fire me if I rejected him.
Of course, it was just a joke. I know that he won't do that to me. I just agreed to what he wanted because it's already late at night. He even told me that it would be difficult for me to take a cab if I refused his offer, and I know that he was just telling me the truth.
Teasing each other seemed to be our way of showing our affection for each other. Just like what he said, he considers me his sister. I can’t deny that I felt my heart flutter a bit because of what he said. We have the same feelings towards each other. I don't have an older brother, while he is the only child of his parents. We often get along on a lot of things, so here we are.
His parents were very kind to me. Just like how my parents make him feel, his parents make me feel the same. If he just likes me, or if I like him, there's a possibility that we may like each other. It's just that we don't have the same feelings, and we are not ready to throw ourselves into the same relationship.
He confessed his feelings towards me four years ago. Yes, I accepted his feelings for me back then. Even though I rejected him that time, it's a good thing that our friendship didn't break. He just moved on, then it's completely done. We are not on the same page and he already knew that. I know that I hurt him with what I did, and I'm glad that he didn't hesitate to accept my offer of friendship with him after what happened that day.
Spencer is a mature man. He knows how to distance himself from people who don't like him. He knows how to handle their business whenever his parents are away. He's kind and lovable. A gentleman in his own way and caring when it comes to me. I know that I annoy him sometimes, and I'm glad that even though we always get together, he never gets bored with me whenever he's with me. He never turned his back on me, even though I did something wrong against him. He was there when I was at my worst. He was there whenever I had a problem to deal with.
All I can say is that the woman who will love him freely in the near future would be lucky to have him, and I hope that whoever she is, she should protect him at all costs. I will ruin her if she intends to break his heart.
"You looked pale, Solanna," he said, which made me avert my eyes from the car that passed by on our side before I turned to look at him. He turned to look at the side where I was looking earlier before he turned to look at me once again. "Is there something wrong? Did you see anything strange?"
"Nothing," I said before I tapped his back to get us out of the alley where we parked earlier.
The white car I saw looked familiar to me. It's like deja vu. It looks familiar to my eyes, and...
I don't know, but why do I feel like that car is familiar to me? Do you ever get the feeling that you've been in that car before but can't remember anything about it? It feels odd to see that car in the middle of the night. That car reminds me of something that I couldn’t even remember.
"Goodnight, Solanna!"
I saw him smile at me before he waved his hand and left with his motor. I don't know why my brain became preoccupied when I saw that car, but then... maybe I was just thinking deeply about something.
From the living room, I noticed Marco watching a television show. He greeted me with a smile, which made me reciprocate before I entered my room. I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes for a moment to calm myself.
I don't have duty at my work tomorrow because my father and I are scheduled to plant some vegetables. My siblings are not going to school tomorrow, so I'm expecting that they will join us at my father's nipa hut.
I felt my eyes gradually close because of drowsiness. I let myself rest because I was so tired from my work. It seems like my mother wasn't here yet, and I know that my father wasn't here either. Monique wasn't here too, so somehow, I still have my time to rest a bit. My siblings always annoy each other whenever they are here. They don't agree on everything, and that's the reason why they literally hate each other.
I would ask Marco later where Monique was. For now, I will rest and sleep first to regain some strength.
My work in the cafe isn't that hard, and my work seemed to be limited because Reeme was the one who often brewed coffee. I do nothing else at the counter but take inventory and audit expenses. I don't know if Spencer has anything to do with the new duties that the office has released since Joy and Julianne were fired.
I opened my eyes and wiped them when they blurred because of my sleep a while ago. I woke up in an unfamiliar room. a children's room, if I'm not mistaken. I saw toys scattered on the floor, so I couldn’t help but feel so confused.
I decided to get up from my bed, and I was almost amazed when I saw my bedsheet. Based on its texture, it looks expensive. While looking at those expensive items inside that room, I felt my lips raise slightly for a smile.
I slowly walked towards the cabinet where I saw the expensive toys I had seen earlier. My eyes wandered over the expensive things that were there before stopping at a snow globe. I inadvertently took it from the table and attempted to turn it upside down.
I felt my lips twitching a bit for a smile when I saw the small Eiffel tower inside. The snow globe doesn't look cheap. If I were the one being asked, I would say that it costs a lot of money.
Everything I saw here in this room looked expensive. It seems like I am in a room owned by one of the wealthiest families in this world.
I stiffened a bit in my posture when I heard the door open. I hurriedly turned to look at the young girl who entered inside, and I felt my eyes widen a bit when I saw her walk closer to me. Because of my shock, I
did not move from where I was standing. She didn't turn to look at me. She didn't confront me either. It seems like I'm just a cloud of smoke standing in front of her. I don't have any idea who she is because her face is a bit blurry to me even though I repeatedly rub my eyes.
I stepped back from my stance when she took the snow globe I was holding earlier and lay down on the bed I was lying on before. It seems like she couldn't see me in my posture, so somehow I'm still free to watch her and her actions.
Even though her face is a bit blurred, I can clearly see her pretty face. Her cheeks and lips were red. She has pale skin just like me, and she's wearing a pink night dress.
It didn't take long for me to stare at her when someone entered the room where we were. A man wearing a white shirt hurriedly entered inside. It seems like he's going somewhere based on his shirt. Based on his height and his physical body, he looked like a teen. He's ten years older than the kid lying in the bed, who looks five years old, if I'm not mistaken.
"Solanna..."
I felt my brows furrow a bit because of what he said. I hurriedly opened my eyes and I was almost surprised when I saw Marco staring at me. He smiled weakly at me before he sat on the bed where I was lying down.
"What are you doing in my room, Marco?" I asked curiously, even though I knew I hadn't locked the door of my room before. "Do you need anything from me?"
"Do you have medicine for stomach cramps?" he asked, which made me nod a bit. "My stomach and chest hurt a lot a while ago. I couldn't go to Monique's room because it was locked. I tried to enter our parents' room, but I didn't find any medicine in their cabinet."
I stood up from my seat and walked closer to my cabinet to look for some medicine. It's a good thing that I keep medicine in my health kit, at that way, we have something to use in emergencies just like this.
When I saw some tablets, I slowly turned to look at him and handed him the medicine I would give him. My finger accidentally tapped his skin when I gave him his medicine. I felt my eyes widen a bit when I felt his body temperature.
I hurriedly withdrew my hand and hurriedly walked closer to him to check his temperature on his forehead. "You have a fever, Marco!" I said, almost yelling because of shock at what I found out. "When did you get a fever? Why don't you tell our parents?"
"I'm the only one here at home."
"If that's the reason, then why didn't you send us a message?" I hissed before I sighed heavily to let myself calm. "Do you feel something aside from your stomach pain? Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"
He chuckled when he saw that I was a bit nervous about what I had found out. He said, "Don't worry, Solanna. I'm okay, and I can walk on my own. It's a trend these days. Maybe it was just the flu," which made my brows furrowed a bit.
I let him take from my hand the medicine I would have given earlier. I stared at him until he was out of my room. I could do nothing but sit up in bed and bother myself. I admit that I was nervous. The color of his skin was not normal before, and what bothered me the most was that even his fingernails looked black.
If I took him to the hospital now, where would I get the money? I feel like the money I saved from working in the cafe isn't enough either, so... I don't know.
Am I overreacting? Was what he said earlier right? Is he okay?
I secretly opened my door and peeked into the kitchen where I saw him a while ago. He was sitting on the wooden chair while holding the glass of water he had taken from the faucet. It seems like he has already taken the medicine I gave him, but it seems like until now, he is still dealing with his stomach pain.
I hurriedly grabbed my pouch and finally left my room. I know that he saw me come out of my room, but instead of asking me, he just kept quiet.
"Stay here. I'll buy medicine for your fever," I said, which made him nod at me with a fake smile etched in his lips.
His lips looked pale. He didn't look like this when I came home and greeted him a while ago. I don't even know how many hours I slept before.
What I dreamed a while ago looks real. I feel like that happened before, but I don't know if it happened to me or not. Is that my memory? But if that thing is part of my memory, then why don't I remember anything? I didn’t know either who the kids I had seen before were.
If Marco hadn't woken me up, is there a possibility that I would know what the personalities of those two children were?
They looked familiar to me, but I don't have any idea who and what their persona is.
It's already 9:00 in the evening, so I'm expecting that some of the stalls I'll pass by are now closed. Just like what I thought earlier, some stores I passed were already closed. Some of them were still open, but the medicine I was looking for was not in their store.
"I'm sorry, hija, but we don't have the medicine you're looking for," the shopkeeper said, prompting me to nod. "Many people were asking for some medicine just like you, but unfortunately, some stalls were running out of medicine because of the flu. Try to go to the nearest supermarket in town; they may have the tablets you're looking for."
I saw her closing their store. I might disturb them, so even though I had no idea where I could buy medicine and where I would go, I decided to walk to the terminal to take a jeep to the town she was referring to.
I was subconciously walking towards the queue, but even before I got there, someone bumped into me. I slowly caressed my head and turned to the man I had bumped into. My eyes widen a fraction when I see him again. He was smiling at me.
"Hello again, Solanna," he said.
