He continued to smile at me while I did nothing but furrow my brows while looking at him. The way he looked at me and the way his smile was etched on his lips, it seemed like he was scheming for something.
A man like him would not casually approach someone like me for no reason. If he has a problem, it's normal for him to approach me. I feel like he's stalking me because whenever I'm staying somewhere, he's always there looking at me.
Based on the way he wears his clothes, it seems like he comes from a wealthy family. Rich and normal teenagers like him do not wear expensive clothes in an untidy environment like the one we were in right now. Based on the way he acts, it also seems like he is a professional person.
He did, however, look good, and he was a little cute and... okay.
He looks handsome and I will not deny that.
"W-What are you doing here?" I asked curiously, which made his lips twitch a bit for a smile. "Are you stalking me?" He scoffed, which made my brows furrow even more. "So you're stalking me—"
"I'm not!" he said before he chuckled. I could do nothing but narrow my eyes.
It seems like I couldn't believe what he said. I mean, it’s hard to believe what he said! What is he doing here then? What is he doing in the places where I often go? Is he stalking me? Is he planning something?
Do I need to call the patrols?
"I'm not a stalker and that's not my thing," he said, which made me secretly roll my eyes. "I am here to pick up something," he said.
Actually, I’m not interested in what he says.
I nodded slowly and decided to pass him to line up at the queue, but before I could step away from him, he hurriedly grabbed my wrist, forcing me back to my original spot.
I hurriedly removed my hand from his grasp and turned to look at him with an annoyed look in my eyes. He did nothing but smile at me while brushing his hair with his fingers.
"You told me that you were here to pick up something. Why don't you pick it up now?" I asked, which made him chuckle and shift his weight while looking at me.
Based on his looks, he looks very interested in me. He doesn't look bad in my eyes; it's just that I'm just irritated by his presence. I know that it's not a good thing to judge other people based on their looks, but the smile that crept on his lips bothered me a lot.
Does he need anything from me? What does he need? Why didn’t he say it directly to the point for me to find out what he really wanted from me?
"Actually, I already got it. I was actually planning to go home, but I saw you in the line," he said before he turned to look at the jeep that was now gone. "Actually, it's their last trip for tonight."
I felt my nostrils widen a bit because of what he said. I hurriedly turned to look at the jeep that was now gone. I also didn't see any other passengers waiting at the terminal, so I knew that he was just telling the truth.
If I'm not mistaken, it's already midnight. I know that the next trip is at 7:00 in the morning.
I hurriedly turned to look at the man on my side. I know that my face is already red because of so much annoyance with what he did. If it's not because of him, there's a possibility that I've already boarded. There's nothing wrong with that, even if I walk home from the supermall.
Marco urgently needs me. I know that he's going to have a seizure if he doesn't take his medicine right away due to fever.
"Look what you did!" I hissed before I looked at the terminal that was already empty.
I slowly sat on the cold road because of so much annoyance with him. He saw what I did, and he did nothing but stretch his hand. I ignored his help, even though his arms remained outstretched in front of me.
"Get up, Solanna," he said, but I ignored him. "The floor is too cold for you. You could get sick."
"My brother is sick," I said, almost in a whisper, while looking at the terminal. I annoyingly turned to look at him when he kneeled at my side. "Do you know what you did?"
"I don't know—"
"If something goes wrong with my brother, I'll blame you, Shake!"
He chuckled silently when I pointed at him. He shook my hand and offered his hand once again, at which I stared for a couple of seconds.
"I'll take you wherever you're going," he said, which made me furrow my brows. "And Blake is my name, not Shake."
"Whatever," I said, shaking my head and rolling my eyes at him.
I stood on my own two feet. I didn't accept his offer of hand, but it seems like I need his offer of help right now.
"Where's your car?" I said, almost a hiss, which made him chuckle and motioned for me to follow him.
We walked closer to his car, an Aston Martin. My jaw almost dropped when I saw his black car. I couldn’t help but feel amazed, especially when Blake pressed a button, which made his car ring. He smiled at me and opened the door for me.
"T-This..." I said, groping for my lines while pointing at his car. "Is this your car?"
He nods at me and motions for me to get inside. "Where will I take you?"
I hurriedly got inside just like he said. I hovered my eyes inside and I couldn't even use the seatbelt on my side because it seemed like it'd get dirty once I put my hands on it and laid my fingers on it.
He got inside before he looked at me. He smiled a bit when he saw that I was fascinated by the car he owned.
"Wear a seat belt, Solanna."
I slowly nodded at him before I did what he said. The supermall referred to by the shopkeeper earlier is not that far away from where we were. If I were the one being asked, I would say it was just a few blocks away.
In today's life, there are thieves who might kill me. What if I get a holdup? What if they salvage my body? What if I die? That's why I agreed to Blake's offer to take me to where I'm going. He looks kind and he doesn't look bad, so... yeah.
"You told me a while ago that your brother is sick?"
"I agreed to let you take me where I was supposed to go. We didn't agree that you could ask me questions about my personal life," I explained, to which he laughed. "And don't laugh at me. We're not that close enough for you to laugh at what I said."
"I'm just asking, Solanna," he said. I secretly rolled my eyes because of irritation at his laughter. "You're too mean."
"If you don’t like mean girls like me, then don’t talk to me," I said.
I saw him nod at me. Based on his smile, it seems like he wasn't even disappointed with what I said. What is he? I feel so bad about what I said, but it looks like it's just nothing for him.
I puckered my lips because of what I had thought.
Just like what we discussed, he dropped me off outside of the Generica. I hurriedly opened the door and got out of his car. I saw him get out of his car as well, so I couldn't help but furrow my brows in annoyance and confusion.
"What are you doing?" I asked, curiously, when he approached me.
He smiled and said, "I'll go with you to buy medicine for your brother," before he held my hand and pulled me into the store.
"Don't you have any plans to go home?"
He shook his head, and instead of answering me, he pushed me into the store. I glared at him darkly, but even before he could see my glares at him, the saleslady called me.
"What can I do for you, Ma'am?"
I huffed my eyes at the store before I turned to look at her. "I was wondering if you have tablets for the flu." I said, which made her nod at me. "My brother has a fever. Earlier, he had stomach cramps. I saw his fingernails turning black. What could be a good medicine for that?"
She furrowed her brows because of what I said. She asked, "Have you ever tried to take him to the clinic for a check-up?" which made me shake my head. She sighed heavily. "Usually they have pain aside from stomach cramps. Asked him if he had any other symptoms, and I also suggested that your brother should undergo a check-up." I nod at her. "As of now, I can only give you medicine for fever and stomach cramps."
I saw how she put some tablets in the small paperbag before she talked to another customer aside from me. Just like me, some of the customers are looking for medicine for the flu.
What if she's right? What if my brother's problem isn't just about his flu? What if he has other symptoms?
"Are you okay?" Blake saw me approaching his car.
I saw him approach my side. He was holding a plastic bag containing fruits. Instead of asking him, I just ignored what he was carrying and nodded my head at his question. It seems like he felt my silence, so instead of asking me, he just shut his mouth and opened the door of his car for me again.
"I bought some oranges for your brother," he said before he placed the bag he had brought earlier on my thigh. "It seems like he needs that."
I slowly turned to look at him before I looked at the oranges he placed on my thigh.
"It belongs to you..."
"It's for you. For your brother, to be exact," he said before he smiled at me. "You told me that your brother has the flu. Citrus fruits may boost your brother's immunity. It may help him fight his fever."
"Thank you," I said, which made him smile at me. "What about the things you're going to pick up here? Have you already got them?"
"Actually, my sister asked me to buy her some oranges." My eyes widened a fraction because of what he said. "But I know that she will understand me if I come home with nothing for her."
I took two pieces of orange from the bag, and returned the bag he gave me. He hurriedly stopped the car on the side and handed the bag back to me, which I did not accept.
"These oranges are for you, Solanna. Take this—"
"That's for your sister, Blake," I said, which made him chuckle a bit. "I can't accept that even though you force me to accept it."
"No. My sister doesn't need it." He chuckled.
My eyes narrowed because of what he said. "How do you say so?" But instead of replying to me, he did nothing but smile at me. "What if your sister needs that more than my brother?"
He shook his head. "She's just wasting her money on buying oranges for display at home. Believe me, Solanna, she doesn't need those." I shook my head, as if I didn’t accept his explanation now. "Okay then, I'll just take two pieces, then take the remaining ones."
I turned to look at the bag. If pressed, I would say that even if he took five pieces of orange there, there will be more inside that bag.
"No, Blake," I replied. "Take that with you and take me home."
He sighed heavily before he leaned back in his seat. "Think about your brother, Solanna. My sister has a lot of money to buy a box of oranges. Even if she buys three boxes tomorrow, she can. Your brother is sick, and he needs that more than my sister."
I shook my head. My decision remains firm.
"Then fine!" he said, raising a bit his voice. "I won't take you home until you accept those oranges."
"But—"
"That's final," he said, cutting me off. I saw how he furrowed his brows because of annoyance at me. "I couldn't believe that I was arguing with a girl just because of those oranges."
I chuckled because of what he said, so I wasn't surprised when he turned to look at me while furrowing his brows.
"What's funny?"
I turned to look at him with a genuine smile plastered on my lips. I knew that he was curious about the smile etched on my lips, so instead of talking to him, I hurriedly leaned my back against my seat.
"I didn't know you were a good person," I said. He puckered his lips before he turned away his eyes from me. "I appreciate you and your help, Blake. I'll look at it with gratitude to you."
"You don't need to," he said, which made me turn to look at him. His brows remained furrowed, so I couldn't help but laugh at my mind. "Oranges weren't a big deal."
"I'm pertaining to your help, not to the oranges."
He hurriedly turned to look at me, so I couldn't help but burst into laughter because of his reactions.
Blake drove me home. I want to invite him to come inside, but it seems like he needs to go home too.
"It's already midnight," I said, which made him nod at me. "Thanks for your help, Blake!"
"You too. Have a good night," he said before he waved his hand and smiled at me.
I watched him drive his car until he disappeared into the darkness. I also didn't stay outside that long because it seemed like my body couldn't take the cold breeze.
When I stepped inside our house, I saw my parents sitting on the sofa, and it seemed like they both had a serious disscusion. They looked at me and smiled a bit, so I couldn't help but raise the plastic bag I was carrying to show them that I had pasalubong for Marco.
"Where did you go, Solanna, and who was with you in the car earlier?" my father asked, which made me stiffen a bit.
