Chapter 1: An Unexpected Encounter
As night fell, the neon lights of the city twinkled like stars, adorning the streets with a dreamlike ambiance. Lin Qian, an ordinary urban white-collar worker, emerged from her office building after a long and busy day, weary as she embarked on her journey home. Her silhouette stretched under the glow of the lights, appearing somewhat lonely, yet her heart was filled with a longing for home. "Phew, finally finished," Lin Qian whispered to herself, rubbing her sore shoulders. The streets seemed particularly deserted, with only occasional passing vehicles and the distant barking of dogs breaking the silence of the night. A gentle breeze swept past, carrying a hint of early autumn chill. Lin Qian tightened her jacket and quickened her pace. "I hope to get back to that cozy little apartment soon and enjoy a moment of tranquility," Lin Qian thought to herself. As she walked through a narrow alley, a faint cry of distress came from not far away. That sound was filled with helplessness and fear, touching the softest part of Lin Qian's heart. She stopped, following the sound. She saw a little dog, its body covered in blood and fur disheveled, curled up in a corner, its eyes sparkling with despair. Lin Qian's heart was instantly wrenched. She quickly approached, crouched down, and softly asked, "Little one, what happened to you? Are you injured?" The little dog seemed to sense Lin Qian's kindness, slightly lifting its head and gazing at her with those helpless eyes, emitting a weak whining sound. Lin Qian noticed that the dog's hind leg seemed to have been cut by some sharp object, the wound deep and bleeding profusely. "Oh no, this isn't good," Lin Qian frowned with pain and immediately decided to take it home to care for it. She carefully picked up the little dog, trying not to let it touch the wound, and then walked swiftly towards her home. Along the way, Lin Qian constantly soothed the little dog in a soft voice, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. I'll help you. You'll be better soon." After returning home, Lin Qian immediately treated the dog's wound. She took out a first-aid kit, cleaned the dog's wound with warm water, then carefully disinfected it with iodine, and bandaged it up. Although the little dog whimpered in pain, it didn't move at all, as if it knew Lin Qian was helping it. "You're such a tough little guy," Lin Qian said softly while bandaging. After treating the wound, Lin Qian placed the little dog on the sofa and prepared some food and water for it. The little dog seemed extremely hungry and ate ravenously. Seeing the little dog like this, Lin Qian felt a strange sense of warmth welling up in her heart. "What's your name?" Lin Qian asked softly. The little dog looked up at her, seemingly not opposed to the name. After finishing the food, it curled up on the sofa and rested peacefully. Looking at its serene appearance, Lin Qian felt extremely gratified. However, Lin Qian didn't know that this seemingly ordinary little dog was actually Leo, the young and powerful president of the werewolf clan, in disguise. Leo had been pursued and severely injured by rival forces in an accident. Fortunately, he was saved by Lin Qian's assistance and managed to escape. And this unexpected encounter would also mark the beginning of their intertwined destinies. In the following days, Lin Qian meticulously cared for "Little Leo," preparing food for it, cleaning its wounds, and accompanying it to play. "Little Leo" gradually regained its vitality and started running and playing around the house. Every time Lin Qian saw "Little Leo's" lively demeanor, a warm current would surge in her heart. "Little Leo, you have to get better soon," Lin Qian said softly while petting Little Leo's fur. However, Lin Qian didn't know that a greater crisis was silently approaching. Leo's rival forces hadn't given up on pursuing him. They had been searching for Leo's whereabouts. And Lin Qian, as Leo's savior, had also been drawn into this crisis.
