Chapter 11 - Her Chance

Xayne invited me for lunch. He pulled me outside the building the moment I accept his invitation and a lot of employees saw how Xayne hold my hand. I am sure that my father will hear this news about us. I wonder what he will think about him.
Xayne opened his car's door for me and I sat in the passenger seat. The smell inside his car was nice. This is the second time that I will be riding his car with him. I felt happiness in my heart because of what is currently happening. He went to the other side of the car and sat in the driver's seat. He turned on the engine and started driving without talking.
I kept on biting my lips, wondering what's gotten into the mind that made him invite me for lunch. I know Xayne. He will never do this. He will never invite me for lunch. Even though I always asked him in the past to join lunch or dinner with me, he kept on declining my offer.
Somehow, something still bothering me. I felt uneasy.
"Xayne? Why are you doing this?" I asked bravely while looking into his eyes. He was looking straight at the road.
"What do you mean?" He asked innocently. I sighed. I know that he knows what I am saying.
"Why did you invite me for lunch? You never did this in the past" I said straightforwardly.
"Julie, stop thinking and worrying too much. I will explain once we get inside the restaurant" he gave me a reassuring smile before he stops the car. I looked around and found out that we are already at our destined location.
We arrived at a fancy restaurant and it amazes me. I have never been here before. He parked his car and we went inside. One of the waitresses guides us to our table. We stopped at the balcony and my eyes were captured by the beautiful sight of the flower garden surrounding the restaurant, giving me peace of mind and relaxation.
This place is so beautiful.
We headed towards the table in the middle of the balcony. I almost think that Xayne invited me to a date and not lunch. I noticed how gentlemanly he was, the way he pulled the chair to let me sit first and asked me if I feel comfortable in the place.
"Julie, the reason why I invited you to have lunch with me is that first, I want to express my gratitude to you for taking care of me when I was drunk. I really appreciated your effort. Second, I want to apologize if I treated you wrong or I acted rude towards you, and third, I want to give us a... Chance" he explained while looking into my eyes.
I tried to understand the last part he just said. He said he want to give us a chance. I know what it means but I do not understand why. He is head over hell for my best friend, Alodia. So why is he giving us a chance then?
"X-xayne, I do not understand you. I-I mean why are doing this? You like Alodia, right? Did your heart suddenly change?" I asked, not sure of what I wanted to understand.
Xayne sighed.
"Julie, I wanted to move on, forget about my past, about Alodia. I wanted to open my heart again to someone. I realized that you are a good person, you showed me how sincere you are, and you are always there if I need help. I want to give you a chance to make me fall in love with you... but if you do not want, I will not force you but at least, let me treat you today" he smiled at me, and then my heart melted.
His words... Did he really mean it?
Did he really appreciate me? I thought he never see my effort. I thought I will never have a chance to a person like him. I cannot believe that Xayne himself will go this far for me. I was so happy.
"T-thank you so much Xayne. I-I am happy. You know how much I like you ever since I met you, right? and I agree, let us try. I want you to be my boyfriend. I will do my best to make you fall in love with me" I said. Tears of happiness fell to my cheeks. I have never been this happy before and I never thought that Xayne would be the first person who will make me cry because of happiness.
Xayne wipe my tears and smiled in front of me. He held my hands as he said Thank you.
The waiter arrived together with our food. We ate delicious food, we talked about ourselves and I learned a lot about him by getting to know each other. I enjoyed talking with him especially when he tried his best to smile and laugh.
I felt like I was dreaming.
I just hope that this kind of moment I shared with him will continue. Even if this is a dream, I do not want to wake up because when I am with him my heart beats fast, I felt those butterflies in my stomach and I felt comfortable with his presence.
After our lunch, he drove me back to the company. I went back to my table, blushing and covering my face with my hands because I cannot stop myself from smiling like an i***t.
"Julie! What happened? How was your date?" Sally suddenly appeared in front of me holding a lot of folders. She sat in front of my table and waited for my story.
I told everything to Sally without breathing because of excitement and happiness. I saw her eyes widen, mouth agape and her hands were shaking.
"Are you serious!?" She asked in a surprised tone. I nodded while smiling.
"Kyahhh!" We both shouted like a fangirl. I was so thankful because Sally knew about Xayne and she helped me in every possible way to meet him. Sally hugged me and congrats me for having my first date with the person I like.
"You better not let him go, Julie, this kind of opportunity are rare" Sally said while heading back to her table.
When I was left alone at my table, I tried to think about my decision. Did I make the right decision? I asked myself. We just started to know each other, everything was so fast. A while ago I was invited for dinner but after that... I don't know anymore. I think I am losing my mind for thinking too much.
Okay! Calm down self! Stop overthinking. He gave me a chance and just like what Sally has said, that kind of opportunity is rare. I should do my best. I should show him that I am worth being called his girlfriend.
Take care of him, support him, and trust him. Just like what my mother did to my father and me.
Speaking of my parents. How am I supposed to tell them about him?
My father finally allowed me to have a boyfriend since I already finished college. I'm sure that Xayne will tell his family about me. Sooner or later, I will meet his beautiful parents who look like a Goddess, and his brother whom I only heard from him.
I felt nervous just thinking about meeting the whole Zacksworth family. I hope that they accept me as their future daughter-in-law. Okay, that is a little bit too fast.
"Julie!!!" I jolted in surprise. Someone slammed a file on my table. I looked up at the person who tried to ruin my fantasies.
"D-dad?!"
