Chapter 1 - Her Crush
Julie Harris
"Ms. Julie Harris!"
I stopped myself from looking while drooling at Xayne's photos when I heard my name being called by the librarian, Ms. Sy.
I am a member of the student council. My position? Student president.
"Yes, Ms. Sy? Can I help you?" I asked her when I stepped towards her.
"How was your paper? I heard that you are planning to conduct an activity to welcome the college freshman" Ms. Sy asked.
I nodded, showing her how excited and happy I was.
"Actually, the activity was to conduct a mini-concert for the freshmen and to give chances for the college seniors to shine," I said while preparing myself to leave.
"Good luck then," Ms. Sy said.
I smiled and left the library to head to the management office. I need to check if the school approved my request to conduct a mini-concert. The reason I am doing something like this is that I support Xayne's dream. He wanted to be a singer and songwriter. I heard about his dream from Alodia.
Xayne is a member of a band including Alodia Clinton, my best friend. Alodia once mentioned that their band wanted to perform on the school grounds before graduation, so, I am working hard to make it happen.
After meeting Xayne for the first time, I always told Alodia how much I liked him. I told her my first impression of Xayne, including my every day after seeing him. All the adjectives in the book are not enough to describe Xayne.
Well, before I met Xayne, I was just a typical student who loved to do nothing but wait for a lunch break. I don't really love to attend classes and study. It is boring to listen to an old teacher whispering every word we wish we could hear not until my best friend Alodia Clinton introduces her friends to me.
I knocked on the door at the management office. After I heard the word "come in", I went inside excitedly.
"Good morning, sir. I am here to get the paper that I requested to sign". I greeted one of the admins who was assigned to manage my paper. He greeted me and smiled back at me.
"Good morning, Julie. Please sit", he said, and I followed. I am already sweating cold and the cold temperature from the air conditioning adds to my nervousness.
He handed me a brown envelope after checking a large bookshelf behind him. Inside the brown envelope are the papers I worked hard on for months. I reached for the paper. My hands were trembling because of the nervousness I felt.
"Thank you, sir," I said while smiling. He nodded and continued working on the other papers.
When I left the management office, I rushed toward my next class to see Alodia. I saw her busy cleaning her brand-new guitar that she was going to use for their next practice.
"Alodia! The papers are here!" I shouted as I called her name.
She turned her head and I saw her eyes sparkling while looking at the envelope that I was holding. She left her guitar beside her chair and went beside me to look at the paper.
"How was it?" She asked with a nervous yet excited tone.
"I still haven't opened to check the papers yet," I said.
We both held our hands tightly and hoped until we decided to open the envelope. We counted from one to three until I slowly opened the envelope and pulled out the paper. We both looked at the last page of the paper thoroughly. Until our eyes stopped at the cursive handwriting at the bottom part of the paper.
"Yey!" We both jumped with joy when we saw the signature of the school president. She approved the mini-concert. My chances of seeing Xayne singing and playing guitar on the stage will finally come true.
"Congratulations!" We both said to each other and giggled after a while.
There is a guy that I really like. However, it is too hard to reach him. Why? Because he is famous, his group of friends was famous. Unlike me, I am just a typical girl who has a crush on him and loves to know everything about him.
He is Xayne Zacksworth, the son of the CEO of Zacksworth International, the one and only Cairo Zacksworth.
I heard from my parents that the Zacksworth family is famous when it comes to business, especially his father, my future father-in-law. Her mother is a nurse working at one of the famous hospitals. I rarely see a photo of her and when I did, I almost dropped my jaw after seeing her beauty. Xayne's facial features came from his mother.
His family is a family of beauty and brains and becoming his wife is my dream. I know it is foolish of me to even dream of that kind of thing. However, I cannot help it because it is one of my dreams.
I remember when Alodia introduced her friends to the band to me. My eyes captured the sight of Xayne strumming his guitar. That time, he was handsome and cool in my eyes. It was love at first sight when he suddenly stopped playing his guitar and looked at me.
lub dub...
That is the very first song I heard from the bottom of my heart when Xayne's and my eyes locked on each other.
Is this love?
He is the only one I can see, and it was as if my world had stopped when a smile formed on his face. Her eyes were deep and beautiful. His nose was straight-edged, and he had the most attractive jawline.
So handsome...
The first time I heard about his name was when Alodia called out his name to introduce him to me after she introduced all her band members. He is the last friend of Alodia that I have not heard the name of.
"This is my friend that I was talking to you, remember?" Alodia asked when he was finally in front of us.
He just nodded, while looking at Alodia. I realized that he is more handsome when he is nearby. I can even smell his expensive cologne lingering around my nose.
"Okay, introduce yourself," Alodia said to him. Her eyes shifted to mine and she offered his hand for a handshake.
"Hi, I'm Xayne Zacksworth," he said and smiled again.
I felt the warmth of my cheeks when I offered my hand and felt his touch. His hands were smooth like a baby's skin. I do not want to let it go. I want to hold his hand forever.
"Hello, I'm Julie Harris," I said my name and gave him my best smile.
At that time, I did not expect my world would turn upside down. After meeting Xayne for the first time, I always told Alodia how much I liked him. I told her my first impression of Xayne, including my everyday impression of him. All the adjectives in the book are not enough to describe Xayne. He is so perfect for me.
The whole school knew that I liked him, and I am proud to announce it. Even my family, except for my father, who does not have any idea about this, my friends support me and the only person who is against my love for Xayne is Xayne himself.
