Blurb

They are worlds apart,

Just like yin and yang.

She didn't want him in her life,

But he was always in her sights.

She wanted him to stay away,

But he couldn't live that way,

Because he was her unwanted fiancé.

"We regret to inform you that you have been engaged. We wish you the best of luck with your new spouse."

What if you wake up one fine morning and get an email saying that you're engaged?

And what if you don't even know the name of the person you're engaged to?

Simple, you go to the owner of the company from which you got the email and threaten to kill him if he doesn't dismiss this engagement.

And when it doesn't work, you go find your husband-to-be and convince him to break off the engagement.

Simple right?

Now, what if your husband-to-be doesn't want to break off the engagement? What do you do then? You go and try to make his life a living hell.

Simple again, right?

Add in the mixture, a cupid best friend, a jealous ex and pranks, lots of it. Maybe the engagement is not so bad after all.

Chapter 1
SAKSHI VARMA "Sakshi!" God, who's calling me now?! Can't they let me sleep in peace? I groaned while covering my ears with the pillow. "Sakshi! Wake up. We have a meeting with the Daniels in an hour. So wake up now. You can sleep after we're back." Dad said as I heard him enter my room. "Dad do I really have to go? Please go without me." I mumbled still covering my head with the pillow. I'm not a morning person at all. "Nope. Wake up Sakshi, now. How do you even sleep so much? You went to sleep at 10 pm yesterday." I heard him sigh. Oh dad, if only you knew. Agreed I went to bed early but I started reading a novel and I couldn't close it without finishing it. So I was up till 3 am. And he is waking me up now at 7 am. I just want to cry. But it was absolutely worth it. "Daaaaaddddd. Pleeeeeasseeee nooo." I screamed as he tried to snatch my blanket. "Wake up na Sakshi. I will even let you eat samosa or dahi vada." Dad tried to bribe me. Hearing this I sat upright. My mouth watered as I pictured them in my mind. Seeing this he chuckled. Dad knows how much I love these fast foods. Every person who met you knows how much you love these. And I bet those who haven't met you yet also know your eating habits. Did I ask for your opinion? No. So shattap. Shattap, really? How mature. More mature than you. Anyways what should I call you as? Well, I prefer conscience. I guess Con it is. So Con, what's up? Nothing's up. And don't call me that. I'm not some Con. I'm your conscience. Whatever you say Con. "Sakshiiiii, stop your daydreaming and go get ready soon," Dad said while shaking me as if trying to wake me up. He can really behave like a child sometimes. "Okay, dad. You go, I'll join you soon." I said while running to the bathroom. Run Sakshi run. You will get to eat your favourite food, so run. I took a shower and wore a black halter dress which had a slit reaching up to my mid-thigh and let my hair down. I don't use makeup. I don't like it. So I just applied some face powder Soon I reached downstairs and saw my dad and stepmom sitting on the dining table. "What's for lunch?" I asked looking at her. I don't call her mom. I can't give that place to anyone. Whenever I want to tell her something I just go to her and tell her that. She looked at me and replied, "pasta". "Oh! " I replied back. Then they both continued talking about something that I didn't pay any heed. When we were finished with breakfast, I and dad left for work. Dad is the owner of Varma Textile Industry. I took over the company one year ago when I turned 20. Now at the age of 21, I'm one of the most successful businesswomen in India. But still, dad always accompanies me in every important meeting, just like today's meeting. Suddenly I heard a ping on my phone and saw an email received. I ignored it cause we were getting late for the meeting. "Sakshi, are you ready for today's meeting?" Dad asked when we reached the company. "You know it, dad. I'm always ready for these type of meetings." I replied back, smirking and lead him to the conference room. "I know. Just be easy on him. I know how ruthless you can be." He sighed. "Dad. You know I do bad to people when they do bad to me and it wasn't even my fault the last time. He was being rude." I said, turning back to him as I took seats in the conference room. Dad'sphone rang so he left to receive it. Soon Mr Daniels came with his assistant and another woman, who I guess was his daughter. "Welcome, Mr Daniels. Should we start the meeting?" I asked with authority in my voice. "And who you might be? You're not Mr Varma." He asked, looking me up and down like he's judging me. "I am Sakshi Varma, his daughter. And I'll be doing this meeting with you." I replied with a cold voice and he visibly shivered. Good. "O-oh so-sorry Ms Varma. I didn't know that you were going to lead the meeting." He stuttered out while his daughter glared at me. She has blonde hair, blue eyes and is dressed in a crop top that barely covered her boobs and shorts which are way too short. "Daddy! Why are you apologising to her?! She should not talk to you in this tone." She whined in her shrill voice. Her father closed his eyes and winced, knowing I could destroy him with a snap of my fingers, while I merely raised an eyebrow. I have seen many like her. Such a waste of time and air. "And who you might be?" I asked, my face void of any emotion. But from inside, I'm just dying to kill her. "Annabelle Daniels." She said smugly as if she is some kind of celebrity. "Oh! You're the Annabelle!" I exclaimed with fake enthusiasm. She smirked thinking she won. Oh well. "You are Annabelle, the doll! You know I have seen the movie and you are really scary." I finished and smirked when I saw her staring at me dumbfounded. "You b***h!" She screamed and tried to lung at me. But I have faster reflex, I moved to the side and she fell on the floor. I bent myself, catching her hair I said, "Don't even dare to try something like that ever again. Otherwise, you will be sporting broken bones." I threatened, pulling her hair. "S-s-sorry." She stuttered, looking scared like a drowning cat. "Better," I said and stood up. I looked towards Mr Daniels who was standing silently the whole time and said, "We will continue this meeting some other time. Now take the b***h and go." He nodded and left with her daughter. As they left I went towards my laptop to do some work and saw some emails and messages. I saw one from Marriedforever1@g*******m. Thinking it might be some spam message and opened it. What. The. Actual. f**k?!
