I didn’t realize I spoke out loud until Ilona turned to face me, her lips spread into a wide smile,
“Yes, Nicholas and I are getting married,” she told me excitedly. “Our wedding has been arranged for years now. Our families are close. It would’ve happened sooner but he was traveling too much. Now that he’s back, it’s going to happen.”
She squealed again, turning to face grandma as they continued whispering about wedding choices.
