"Mom, something is happening to me. l am so scared, I almost killed two men and I have a feeling that the police may be after me because of my work at Fin laboratories." Jade cried to Susan. Susan had raised Jade since the day she was born.
"I need answers about my biological family."
"I will be traveling to Africa".
Jade was very certain that her past had something to do with the strange things happening to her. She kept recalling the encounter with the old woman who called her Ngaa.
The nurse walking in her room and informed Jade that she was discharged from the hospital.
She hurriedly grabbed her bag and rushed out of the hospital room. As she waved for a taxi the handsome detective pulled up in his car and offered her a lift. She was hesitant at first but when she remembered that Mike wanted her dead she knew she would be safe with the detective.
"I won't be discussing my work at Fin laboratories with you because I signed a confidentiality agreement".
" I don't need any more trouble, am leaving for Kenya tomorrow. You can arrest me already if you have a case against me but if not so am leaving tonight ".
"I have no case against you miss Jade. I was just hoping you would help me with the investigation"
"It has come to our attention that Fin laboratories is collecting DNA samples from supernatural beings and trying to create human weapons with it".
"Do you know how much harm that can cause?" Aron West asked looking harshly at Jade.
Jade arrived at her building apartment and was ready to alight the detective's car without even a thank you. She was feeling anger boiling in her guts. Why would Fin laboratories use her research for such an orthodox purpose?
"Hey, here is my card incase you change your mind about the case or maybe needs someone to hang out with". Aron West said with a beautiful smile on his handsome face. He knew she would call him some day and hoped that it would be sooner.
Jade grabbed her suitcase and threw in a few clothes and her traveling documents, she was determined to leave the country on that same night. She called for a taxi and drove off to the airport. She was lucky to find a plane leaving for Kenya and bought her ticket.
She boarded the planed and felt a relieve. She had been so anxious the whole time. She felt sweaty and decided to go freshen up. She looked at the mirror and noticed a few grey hairs on her head that she had never noticed before.
As she stared in the mirror she felt the every hair on her body raising, the bathroom stared getting Soo cold that she thought it was freezing, her fingers started to shake uncontrollably. She could hear so many voices whispering at once but there was one distinctive voice which sounded like an old woman whimpering.
The voices stopped and immediately the mirror infront of her changed, there was this image of an old tomb in a forest and the old woman was standing next to it with no expression on her face. She turned and looked at Jade, in a flash of seconds she grabbed Jade's hand.
"Find me, find me, find me". the old lady said in a scratchy eerie sound.
There was whispering again but this time it was lounder than before. Jade covered her ears so hard to stop the noise.
"Are you okay miss?"
"Hey?! I asked if you are okay?" the flight attendant asked Jade who seemed confused at what just happened.
"Did you see her too, the old lady in the mirror?" Jade asked anxious.
" Did you drugs before boarding the plane miss?" the plane attendant was concerned.
" Never mind, am okay".Jade said as she left the washroom.
When she sat down she looked at her hand and was shocked to see a dark substance on her wrist where the old lady had grabbed. She felt her stomach tightening and wished that it wasn't real. She couldn't sleep and kept recalling the encounter with the old lady in the bathroom. What did she mean by telling Jade to find her?
The planed landed in Nairobi Kenya the next day early in the morning. Susan was ready to receive her daughter at the airport that morning. They were both overwhelmed to meet each after a very long period of time.
"I want to leave for the village today, the place where I was born". Jade told Susan who seemed shocked and scared at the same time.
"What happened to your hair?" Susan asked.
" Strange things are happening to me, I can't explain them. I need answers before I go crazy. Who was my mother? how do I find her?" Jade shouted impatiently.
Susan gave Jade the location to find her mother after a long talk of trying to persuade Jade not to go looking out for her mother. She was adamant about it and couldn't let any excuses to stop her. She had to know everything.
She boarded a bus and drove to the country side. She had this weird feeling that she couldn't shake off her. It was getting dark as she arrived to the location given to her. She alighted the bus and looked at her surrounding the place seemed deserted. One thing stoond out, she felt like she had been on that spot across the field before.
An man herding his goats nearby pointed her to the direction of the Mackenzie family. They were well know for their wealth and loyalty status. They were descendants of the mighty Mugwe.
She was welcomed homed. Susan had informed them of Jade's arrival.
