The Man Who Knew My Name
The first time Adrián Blackwood threatened me, his mouth was just an inch from mine.
The second time, I was already wishing he would do it again.
But that night, I still didn't know I would end up kissing the man I had come to destroy.
All I knew was that my sister had been missing for forty-seven days, the police had stopped looking for her, and someone had just slid a photograph under my apartment door.
In it, Lucía was smiling.
Her hair was pinned up, she wore a red dress, and she held a glass of champagne between her fingers. Beside her, a man dressed in black looked at her as if the rest of the world didn't exist.
Adrián Blackwood.
Madrid's most enigmatic billionaire. A man whose name appeared in financial magazines and crime tabloids with equal frequency.
The very same man whose fiancée had died three years ago, just hours before their wedding.
Below the photograph, there was a handwritten note.
If you want to see your sister again, make him fall in love with you.
I read those words so many times they stopped feeling real.
Then, I dialed the number written on the back.
A male voice answered on the second ring.
"You shouldn't have received that photograph."
"Who are you?"
"Someone who's trying to keep you alive."
"Then start by explaining to me where my sister is."
There was a silence.
"Tomorrow night, Adrián Blackwood is hosting a gala at his residence. I need you to be there."
"And why should I listen to you?"
"Because Lucía wasn't the first woman to disappear after getting close to him."
The call went dead.
That very night, I decided I would meet Adrián Blackwood.
I had no idea he had been waiting for me for years.
