ALEX’S POV I watched Scarlet slip away from her desk, her eyes darting around like she was afraid of being caught. Something about the way she moved sent a prickle of suspicion up my spine. I waited until she disappeared around the corner before standing up, straightening my jacket. I couldn’t explain why I felt the need to follow her. Maybe it was the old habit of knowing where she went. Or maybe it was because she’d been acting so strange lately, and I hated being out of the loop.
