Chapter 13Something was different. It took weeks to notice, but his hallucinations were not as frequent or severe. Fewer bodies, more birds. For the first time since they began, they were not getting worse. Even Muhaimin was generally quiet as Henri took it for a walk. They still persisted, however. One day, the sitting room was on fire. He could feel the heat. And as always, the Monks looked colorful and distorted. But the pool proved ten times more enjoyable without any bodies floating in it. He avoided Whalen—and all visions of him—for more than a month. No easy task considering they both used the same hallways. Cillian went about his life aboard the Educator as best he could. They would be back on Earth soon, and he was both excited and afraid of what might happen once they returned.
