Chapter 61

Alpha Xander’s POV

I observed the furlong look on my cousin's face as he watches Anna go to her room. I don’t know what their conversation was about, but I know the issue of their bond is a touchy subject. Nicholas has a picture of the type of mate and Luna he wants and that is not Anna. It may have been the type of person she would have been if her parents weren’t killed, and she wasn’t abused for six years, but this is a new and different Anna. She is still amazing, but she will never be what Nicholas wants her to be. But he still cares for her.

We enter the office; I get glasses and a bottle of scotch, and we all take a seat. A couple of minutes later Derrick enters the office and joins us. After a drink or two, we all relax a bit.

“Gentlemen, I wish to congratulate you on a successful Summit. I know we were all nervous about what would and could happen, but everything went well. That was all thanks to you two” Nicholas says

“We are thankful for how everything turned out. We have a solid plan for the future of the kingdom and packs were able to make alliances and business deals while here. I am proud of everyone who participated. Now do you want to tell us what has you with such a melancholy expression?” Derrick asks

“I don’t know what to do about my bond with Anna. She told me tonight that the Goddess has given each of us a weak bond with another because she saw that things were not going well for us. So, no matter what, we will have a mate bond, with each other or someone else. But I feel like I am being ungrateful for what the goddess has given me. Our bond is weak because of me. Anna is amazing! s**t, she saved my life today, so why am I not jumping for joy that she is my mate?”

“I think the Anna prior to David’s death and her abuse would be the perfect mate for you, but Anna has changed. It’s not a bad thing, but she is not the carefree girl she used to be, and I think the goddess understands this and that is why she is giving both of you a more suitable option” Derrick says

“Am I wrong in looking for a different type of mate? Each of you have accepted the strong mates the goddess blessed you with. Why can’t I?”

“We are not the King, so your needs and expectations will be different from ours. And I feel every and any woman who can handle the role of Luna is strong, they just have different types of strengths. Our mates each fill a spot in us that we need, to make us better men and leaders. But that is different for each person. When we all found our mates, it all just clicked. If you don’t feel that, then Anna is not the right one for you, no matter how amazing she is” Thane says

“Nicholas, even the goddess recognized this, that’s why she is bonding you both to someone else. Usually, if someone rejects the bond, the victim may get a second chance, but not the other person. It is not common for you both to get a second chance” Xander says

“Shouldn’t you all want me to be with Anna? She’s my mate, and your family member”

“Nicholas, don’t you see? They want you both to be happy. If you are not happy with Anna, then she won’t be happy” Abel says

“Also, you and Anna have not gotten to spend much time together. Have the two of you even had a real conversation? Shouldn’t you try to get to know the other person before you just conclude they are not right for you?” Victor suggests

“True! Except for when she kicked you and tonight, when else have you guys just sat and talked? Maybe go on a date or two after we settle things next weekend. Then decide after that” Thane says

“That makes sense. She said we should meet after a month because after next weekend she knows we will be busy fixing things. Maybe I will suggest we date for a month before we make any decisions”

“I think that’s a smart idea” Derrick says

“And this is why I want you to be my choice of Elder Derrick” Nicholas says

Thane and Xander look at him shocked. I guess he hasn’t gotten a chance to discuss it with the family yet.

Alpha Derrick’s POV

Nicholas just blurted out to Thane and Xander that he wants me to be an Elder. I have not yet had a chance to discuss it with the family. I planned to do it at breakfast in the morning.

“Yes, he asked, but I have not decided yet. I wanted to discuss it with everyone at breakfast” I say as they stare at me shocked

“Okay, but I’m giving my opinion now. It’s an honor, and you would be a great Elder” Xander says

“I agree, but I will wait until we discuss it as a family tomorrow” Thane says with a smile

We continue to sit, drink and talk for another hour or so. Then we leave the office to head to our rooms. I enter and Opal is in bed reading a book.

“How is Nicholas doing?” she asks

“You knew we were going to talk to Nicholas?”

“Of course. After how well everything went, the only issue is his bond with Anna”

“Yeah and now the goddess has established a second bond for both of them with others, so if they reject each other, they each get second chances”

“She sees that the Anna she wanted with him, is not the Anna who exists after her parents' death and the abuse. It makes sense, but this is probably all confusing for them. And what are you so perplexed about?”

“Something I have been thinking about”

“You ready to discuss it, or do you need more time to process it?”

“Need time to process it. I figured we could discuss it in the morning”

“Okay”

“Okay. That’s it”

“Derrick, we have been together for a long time and I know when you get information you need time to process it before you discuss it. Pushing you to discuss it before you are ready just frustrates you, and then you get angry. I am here when you are ready”

“You are wonderful Opal. You know exactly what I need and when I need it”

“That’s my job” she smiles

I undress and walk to my Luna. I slid into bed beside her and kissed her. I travel my lips down from her lips, to her neck and then suck on her breast. I get harder with every moan and word of encouragement she speaks. I remove her gown and position her underneath me. I slide into her warmth and proceed to worship her body all night. I am blessed with this amazing woman. I hope both Nicholas and Annalisa get to experience such a bond and connection. Either together or with others.
