Chapter 62

Alpha Clarence

The past week went off without a hitch. The Elders were here for a few days and accepted time with the girls as replacement for this month’s payment. That put extra money in my pocket to purchase more women. I had planned to sell the ones I have to a few packs this week, but I decided I will hold onto them until next week. Blake’s party is on Saturday, and I need to have some females available for the guests. I have been trying to contact Mr. Smalls for a few days now, but I can’t contact him. His cell just rings then goes to voicemail. This is not uncommon for him. When we first started doing business together, he would ignore me for days. But these types of games, I realize is not good business. I guess that’s what I get for working with a rogue. Just like with the rogues, I used to take over the pack. Some truly wanted to get back into a pack and were turned rogue due to no fault of their own. But the majority of them were bastards and should have been rogues. Having them in my pack may have made my numbers look good, but they were horrible to the women. They would assault them, rape them and even kidnap them. The omegas in this pack don’t walk around by themselves because they are afraid to be caught alone by some of the men. Bringing them into the pack has actually worsened the pack. The moral is low and a lot of the original families have left, breaking their association with the pack and myself as the alpha. I guess hindsight is 20/20. I wanted this pack and would have done anything I had to, to make it mine.

I make plans to call Mr. Smalls next week after the party is over. I decided to focus on my son for now. The first thing is the mating ball on Friday. We have confirmation of attendance by our twenty business packs and a few closer packs. It’s not as big of a turn-out as I wanted, but it’s acceptable. A lot of packs still won’t associate with us since I took over the pack. We lost almost all our alliances and all of our business partners within three months of me taking over and the pack has never recovered. I may be the alpha, but Dark Hollow dropped from the 3rd largest pack to number 123rd. The only thing that gets us above the other two packs is the size of our territory. If it was not for that, we would be last. Not something I’m proud of but at least I am alpha, that is all that counts.

Blake and Lance come to my office to finalize some of the details about the party. I warn them about their behavior at the mating ball. I explain that all the packs there are coming for the ball are from our alliances, and they are associated with our business. We don’t want to cause any trouble, nor to offend any ranked member from another pack. I offer the girls in the basement if they need a release. The last thing I need is their horny asses screwing up with one of our alliances and business partners.

Thane’s POV

It is the morning after the summit, and we gather for family breakfast. Whenever we visit each other, we get together on the morning of the last day. We are all together and have family breakfast. We are all gathered in the small dining room in the packhouse. Grandma, Mom and Anna insist on cooking this breakfast and giving the pack staff the morning off. They say after all their work yesterday they deserve to be catered to for the day. Xander has planned a pack bar-b-q, to thank them for all their hard work during the summit. As we settled, I assumed my dad would start off with telling us about Nicholas’s offer, but my grandparents start the family discussion.

“I would like to start breakfast off by thanking everyone for your help in organizing and executing the first ever Alpha Summit. It was a success, and we all made it happen. The other Alpha’s and the King can’t stop talking about it and I have you all to thank for your help” Xander says

We discussed some things that occurred during the summit and what we would do again and things we would change for next time. But we all agreed it was a huge success.

“We have a request” grandma says to all at the table

“We would like to be there with Anna when she challenges Clarence” grandpa says

“Mom, Dad, it could be dangerous. We don’t want you getting hurt” dad says

“We appreciate your concern, Derrick, but we are an ex-alpha and ex-luna, we can protect ourselves. We are also fully aware of the dangers that are possible. We still want to go” grandma says

“We want to be there when Anna ends that man. We have to be there to see the man who killed our David and Marcia die. We know the family will be pulled thin that day with all that is going on, and we want to be with Anna. We will take all steps to be careful”

“I don’t have a problem with it. You can come after the soldiers secure the pack members. Having another woman there would also be helpful if we find any females to rescue. Right now, it’s just Teresa” Anna says

“That’s a good idea, Anna. I think having grandma there would be a good idea. Having Dr Robert there would also be good. He has already dealt with others in this situation, he knows how to communicate and relax with them and to talk to them.” Teresa says

“So, its settled. We are going with Anna!” grandma says with a smile

“I don’t think we came to a conclusion, Mom” dad says

“Derrick, we asked you to be polite. We don’t need your permission. We are going to support our granddaughter and spit on the man that took our son. End of discussion” grandpa said sternly

The room went silent after that. Everyone kept staring between dad and grandpa to see if something else was going to happen, but dad conceded. He has to admit they have the right to be there. We know he is concerned about them but even I’ve seen them fight, and I know, no one at Dark Hollow will get a chance to touch them. Not to mention, Anna, her team, Teresa and Xander will be there. Anyone would be a fool to touch our grandparents. A dead fool! Breakfast continues with silence except for forks hitting plates for a while.

“So, I think I have the next topic” dad says

I look at Xander with a smile when he says this. I am extremely proud of my father for being offered this position and I 100% believe he should take it.

“King Nicholas offered me a position on the new Elder Council”

There were gasps followed by congratulations, cheers and expressions of joy. I know he was nervous to discuss it, but there is nothing but joy expressed at this table today.

“That is wonderful, Derrick” grandma says

“That is an honor, Derrick, I am very proud of you” grandpa says

“So, is everyone okay with me accepting the position?”

“YES” comes from everyone at the table. My dad smiles and turns to my mom

“Opal?”

“What does it entail in regard to us traveling?”

“I will have to be there for a meeting once a month once things are established. There will be emergency meetings but with everyone coming from different quadrants, they can be done via video. I will have to be present when he confronts his current elders this weekend. As we get things established, I may have to be at the palace for extended periods of time, but you are more than welcome to come. We will have living quarters at the palace” he says

“So, will we be delaying our travels for a little bit?” she asks

“Yes, and with the elections and the establishment of the new council, I can’t give you a new timeframe yet”

“I think you should take the job. It’s an honor to be selected personally by the King. And there is something else going on we will want to be home for, so it’s okay to delay traveling a bit”

“What else is going on?”

“I guess that is my news” Teresa says

“News? What news? I didn’t know we had news” Xander says

“Well, this news is a surprise for you also, baby. I went to the Doctor on Friday, and I am pregnant”

Cheers erupt in the room as everyone gets up to hug and congratulate the couple. Teresa and Xander are engulfed in arms as everything is beyond ecstatic to welcome the first in the next generation of Royals. I grab Tessa’s hand and smile as I kiss her knuckles. We recently talked about having children and have decided we will be blessed when the Goddess is ready for us. We just recently took on our new role and are still learning, but would be more than happy to welcome a baby to our family.

“That is amazing news!!!! I’m going to be a great-grandmother”

“You don’t look surprised. You knew?” dad asks mom

“Yeah, I was the one that told her to go to the clinic and get tested. Along with…..”

“I guess that’s my turn” Tessa says turning to face me, our hands still entwined

“I am also pregnant” she says

My mouth falls open to the shock of the news. I was not expecting that. We just spoke about this two weeks ago. The room is again loud with excitement. Everyone is out of their seat and engulfing us in hugs and kisses of congratulations. I still can’t believe what she just said.

“I’m going to be a father?”

“Yes Thane, we are having a baby” she says with a smile

“But we said we would wait”

“The Goddess has other plans for us” she shrugs

I turned to look at my father, and he smiled at me. She’s so calm, and I’m thinking of all the stuff that could happen. I am beyond excited but just as nervous. What if she gets hurt? What if they both get hurt?

“Don’t worry Thane, they will be fine. All men get nervous and worried when they find out they will be fathers. I know you guys are ready to lock them in their rooms to protect them but don’t worry, they will be fine” dad says smiling at Xander and I

“I guess I will go last. I have two mates” Anna says
