Chapter 35

Thane’s POV

We are on our way to the Dark Hollow Annex. We will be meeting The Captain at a diner in the town about an hour south of the coordinates Uncle David left. It is me, Dad, Ronald, and Gregory. We offered for Annalisa to come, but she said no. She didn’t want to get involved with anything having to do with the pack until she finished her missions. Since she was not ready to become Alpha to the pack, then she would wait to meet the people there. We did not bring any warriors because we wanted this to be a peaceful meeting, but we honestly didn’t know what we were walking into so we did bring weapons.

We walked into Annie’s diner about 20 minutes early and took a seat in the back that said reserved. We look at the menu and smile. There are signature meals named after Uncle David, Aunt Marcia and Annalisa. There are other dishes with people’s names, so maybe it was other members of the original Dark Hollow pack. We each order a signature meal and wait for the other guests. About 10 minutes later, a gentleman about my dads age, one about my age and an older woman come through the back door and stand by the table.

“Alpha Derrick Royal of the Crystal Lake pack?”

“Yes, this is my son Thane, my Gamma Ronald and his son Gregory. And you are?”

“Alpha, my name is Kramer. My older brother was Alpha David’s Gamma. I am The Captain of the Dark Hollow Annex. Before we go into any further details, I would like to confirm your identity per Alpha David’s instructions”

“What do I need to do?”

“I will need a drop of your blood in the center of this box to unlock it”

My Dad extends a claw and pricks his finger. He squeezes a drop of blood into the center of a nondescript brown box. Once that is done, the box opens and there is a piece of paper inside.

“Alpha Derrick, what is the name of the first woman who had your heart?” the man asks

“Is he talking about mom?” I question

“Willa” my dad answers with a smile

“That is correct. If you gentleman will follow us upstairs so we can talk in private” he says

We all stand up and follow them to a meeting space above the diner

“Whose Willa Dad?” I ask

“Your great-grandmother. David and I spent a lot of time with her. I honestly loved her more than my mom. The only person who knew that was David” he smiles again

We sit to some coffee and pastries.

“As I said, my name is Kramer, this is Jared, my son and this is Mrs. Washington our lead omega and the owner of this diner. My brother and Alpha David came to myself, Mrs. Washington and Dr Ross about ten months before the takeover. He felt something was going on and, besides Luna Marcia, the people he was talking to were the ones he knew he could trust. He had no proof of what was going on but gut feelings and circumstantial evidence. So, he created the annex. My mate, son, daughter and I along with Dr Ross and his family were sent to facilitate and oversee the building of the annex. After Luna Marcia’s mysterious death, Alpha David started slowly sending over loyal warriors and omegas. My wife is a witch and can read intentions and see if someone is lying. So, Alpha David had her test and weed out appropriate Dark Hollow members to go to the annex. Once the attack happened, these people knew to flee to the annex. My brother, Alpha David and five other approved members were the only ones who did not make it to the annex that day, including Annalisa, even though he had a back-up plan for her. He was supposed to send Annalisa about a month after the passing of Luna Marcia but found it hard to separate from her after losing his mate. We have been living here awaiting the return of a Royal to become Alpha and take over the pack. Alpha David knew he would not survive what was going to happen. The new Alpha is to be Annalisa if she is of age and alive. This is the letter he wrote for you, Alpha Derrick”

Dad takes the letter and pockets it. I think with everything he has heard so far and seeing the video of Uncle David’s death yesterday, he is starting to get overwhelmed. We ask questions about the annex and are then escorted there by following their SUV. We pull up to a set of large gates, and it all looks just like Dark Hollow. I have seen many pictures and it is exactly the same.

“Is there a reason you designed and decorated the annex exactly like Dark Hollow?” I question

“Alpha David felt making it the same would help people transition better. He said it was bad enough they had to leave in the first place”

“Do you take in new pack members?” I question

“We didn’t at first, not sure who maybe from Dark Hollow. But over the last couple of years, women have been going missing, so we have been more open to taking women who are fleeing or in danger. Because the terrain around the area is difficult to maneuver, we don’t get many wanderers around here”

He shows us around, and then we go to the packhouse. We question their training schedule and regimen. Discuss any safety issues. Watch a few sparing sessions, with our Gamma’s giving their assessment. We went to Kramer’s office to discuss the plan going forward. As we enter the house; Gregory stops and looks around

“Are you okay man?” I ask coming to his side

“You don’t smell that? Someone is baking chocolate chip cookies, and now I am hungry”

“I don’t smell cookies”

“What? I smell cookies and they smell delicious. When we get to the office, ask them for some cookies”

We get situated in the office

“Would you guys like a snack? Maybe some coffee?”

“Coffee and a snack would be nice” Dad says

“And some of those cookies” Gregory says

“I’m not sure if we have cookies, but I will check” Mrs Washington says

“So, Kramer, now that my dad is aware of the annex; what is the expectation?”

“The annex was to be Annalisa’s pack if something happened to Dark Hollow. It was only to go to Alpha Derrick or another Royal if something happened to Annalisa. He ultimately wanted to join the two packs or whatever she wanted to do with the two properties. Did she survive?”

“Yes, Annalisa survived. She was a slave there for six years but recently got away and is at Crystal Lake now” Dad answers

“But she is not ready to run the pack. She has other things she needs to accomplish first”

“I have no problem staying as The Captain until she is ready to take over. But since she is not ready, technically, the pack is to go to you, Alpha Derrick or another Royal”

“Thane will be taking over as Alpha this weekend. I think the best thing to do is to talk to Annalisa about this, since this is her pack. And then we can decide. Until then, you will remain in the current role Kramer” Dad says

“We will need to make some type of alliance since the alliance with the original Dark Hollow pack was voided when Uncle David was killed. You guys have done well growing and staying safe, but we want to make sure you have other resources if you need them” I comment

Just then a woman comes wheeling in a tray with the coffee and snacks. She comes in smiling at Kramer and hugs him. A terrifying growl is heard, and Gregory is staring at Kramer and the woman, his eyes black as night

“SHE’S MINE!!!” he growls and advances on her

The woman flicks her wrist and throws him against the far wall and then gets in a fighting stance. Gregory jumps up angry and Ronald runs to restrain him. He is fighting against his father as Kramer and Jared move the woman behind them

“DON’T TOUCH MY MATE!!” Gregory yells

“MATE?”

Gregory’s POV

I am sitting in the meeting and all I can think about is chocolate chip cookies. That was all I had smelled since I walked into this packhouse. My wolf is jumping around in my head, causing me a headache

“Stone, dude, you need to calm down”

“I can’t. That smell is doing something to us. I think it’s our mate”

“You think so?”

“Yeah, you need to go find her”

“I have to wait until the meeting is over”

“f**k the meeting. Get our mate! Her scent is making me crazy”

“I will, just give me…..”

As I am responding to him, the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen enter the office. She is about 5ft 6in I think. Taller than Annalisa but not quite as tall as Tessa. She has caramel colored skin; her hair is in long braids to her butt, and she has curves. Some may say she is fat, but I like the term thick. She also has muscles; you can see the definition in her arms and legs. She has breasts, butt, hips, thighs. All the right things in all the right places. I am in love. She smiles at Kramer and Stone growls in my head

“Why is mate smiling at him?”

“I don’t know buddy, give me a minute to talk to her”

Then she hugs Kramer. Stone takes over my body. He jumps out of his seat and lets out an angry growl

“SHE’S MINE!!!” he growls and advances on her

“Stone wait” I try to stop him but he blocks me out

The woman flicks her wrist, and I am thrown against the far wall. I stand to get to her, but my dad is trying to stop us

“Stone, give control back to Gregory. You are scaring her” Dad says

“Greg fight him” Dad yells

Stone continues to fight against Dad as Kramer and his son move the woman behind them

“DON’T TOUCH MY MATE!!” Stone yells

“MATE?”

“STONE STOP!” Thane commands in his alpha tone

Stone calms with the command, so I can take over. My dad lets me go after he is assured that I am back, and Stone is under control. I walk to the center of the office

“Gregory, please get our mate. I didn’t mean to scare her” Stone cries

“I’ll try”

“I apologize to everyone for what happened here. My wolf took control when he saw someone touching our mate. Ms. I am sorry if I scared you and I do apologize for Stone’s actions” I say first to everyone and then directly into the beautiful light brown eyes of my mate

“Stone is your wolf? What’s your name?” she asks

“Yes, I am Gregory, and we are very sorry if we scared you”

“He didn’t scare me. Scarlett and I don’t scare easily” she says with a smile and a wink

“Scarlett is your wolf?”

“Yes, and I am Zora. Captain Kramer is my dad and Jared is my brother. You don’t have to worry about them. Okay Stone?” she says walking up and putting her hand on my cheek, looking into my eyes

“Oh Goddess she is amazing” Stone purrs in my head

“Can we go somewhere and talk?” I ask

She nods and takes my hand. I look up at Thane and Alpha Derrick for permission and they both nod. She takes me up to the fourth floor and to her room
