Chapter 1: The Moon Night Surprise.
The air in the great hall felt thick with anticipation and excitement. The long, shining tables and ornate chairs were crowded with pack members, all eager to hear the news of the ceremony. Everyone was excited but also on edge. The Moonlight Ceremony was one of the most important events for their werewolf pack, as it signified the beginning of a new era. As Sarah and her identical twin sister, Sasha entered the large hall, the atmosphere was electric with excitement. Sarah with her long dark brown hair that shone like polished wood, and her eyes were a vibrant green, always full of hope and emotion. Sasha, her identical twin in looks but not in personality, shared the same brown hair and green eyes, but her gaze held a sharpness like she was always scheming. On the far side of the room, hidden by shadows, was Alpha Gabriel, the leader of the Silverwood pack. He was tall and broad, his dark hair with piercing blue eyes giving him a regal bearing. He sat atop a raised podium, surrounded by his closest advisors. As they made their way through the crowd, Sarah couldn't help but feel nervous about what was to come. Suddenly, the door to the hall opened and a sharp hush fell over the crowd as a woman stepped through. She was tall and commanding, dressed in a rich gown of silver and green that made her skin look almost luminescent. Her long dark hair was pulled back, her eyes shining with silver. Eva, the Alpha's sister, smiled as she crossed the room, her gaze taking in the rapt faces of her packmates. She had grown up with them, and it filled her with pride to see their loyalty and love. When she reached the Alpha's podium, he stood and gave her a warm embrace. "Welcome, sis," he said fondly. Eva smiled in return and stepped back to address the assembled crowd. Her voice was clear and strong, rising above the murmurs of the crowd. "My fellow packmates," she began. "Tonight we have come together to celebrate the Moonlight Ceremony. This is an important occasion, for it is the night when our Alpha will choose his mate. We all wish him well in his decision and are prepared to follow him faithfully in his chosen direction." The crowd erupted into applause as she stepped back to her place beside the Alpha. Sarah stood near one end of the hall, her heart pounding. Her identical twin, Sasha, had a confident air about her as she stood closer to the stage. Sasha was undeniably beautiful, but she could also be selfish. Minutes ticked away, and everyone held their breath. Sarah couldn't help but steal glances at Gabriel, the Alpha. She remembered the day they first met, the pain of his rejection, and the inexplicable connection that had always drawn her back to him. But Sarah couldn't help the way she felt, and now that she was standing in front of him again, her heart was racing with suspense. The Alpha stood up from his seat and walked majestically to the center of their podium. He scanned the crowd below, his eyes twinkling with amusement. He raised his hands, and the room fell into silence. "Greetings, my fellow pack members," he declared, his words resonating within the chamber. "Tonight," he began, his voice soft but powerful, "we've gathered under the moon's watchful gaze to choose the next Alpha's mate." Gabriel continued, "As it is our custom, the moon itself shall guide us in our decision." He pointed at the moon with his hand, and it got brighter, casting a radiant beam onto the stage. Gasps filled the room as everyone watched in awe. Sasha stepped into the moonlight, her figure outlined in a radiant glow. It seemed like the moon had chosen her. Sarah's heart sank. She remembered the pain of rejection, but she couldn't help hoping for a different outcome tonight. The pack members watched with bated breath as Luke approached Sasha. He took her hand, but there was no spark, no connection between them. A wave of bewilderment spread across the space. Sasha pulled her hands away, her eyes filled with tears. Gabriel's heart sank. He had been so sure that she was the one. Then, in a shocking twist, something unexpected happened. Instead of bonding Gabriel and Sasha, the moon's power latched onto another—the identical twin, Sarah. Gasps filled the hall. Sarah's eyes widened as she realized what was happening. Gabriel's eyes met hers, and in that moment, a spark ignited, a connection rekindled, and an unspoken awareness passed between them. "Sarah..." Gabriel whispered. "Gabriel..." Sarah replied, her voice barely audible, tears welling in her eyes. In that electrifying moment, Gabriel chose Sarah as his mate, defying tradition and shattering expectations. The room fell into a collective hush as they witnessed the unheard-of: bond forming Alpha Gabriel and Sarah. Sasha's pupils dilated in astonishment. She watched in horror as her twin sister Sarah was led towards the Alpha, Gabriel by the moon power. Her gaze bore into Sarah, accusing her of betrayal. The pack members were torn, unsure of what to make of this unusual turn of events. It was supposed to be her moment, as the Moonlight Ceremony had always been meant to be a chance for Sasha to prove herself as the more worthy twin. But the moon had chosen Sarah instead, and Sasha could feel the jealousy and anger bubbling inside her. Sasha, who had always been the center of attention, was now forced to stand in her sister's shadow. She was filled with jealousy at the thought of Sarah being chosen over her. She had always been the more outgoing and confident of the twins, and this sudden power shift was not something she was willing to accept. Sarah felt her heart pound in her chest, the sound of her blood rushing through her veins almost drowning out the chorus of howls and cheers from the pack. She found it impossible to fathom the recent events. She had been chosen by the moon itself to be the mate of Gabriel, the Alpha, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. But even as she stood there, trying to come to terms with her new reality, Sarah could feel the eyes of her twin sister, Sasha, burning into her. Sasha had always been the more popular between them, the one who got all the attention and admiration from the pack. And now Sarah had something that Sasha could never have - the love of the Alpha. Sarah could feel the tension in the air as the other wolves tried to process what had just happened. Some were happy for her, while others were openly hostile. But it was Sasha's reaction that worried her the most. Her twin sister had always been fiercely competitive. Sarah, standing beside Gabriel, felt a surge of shock and confusion. The bond was undeniable, a connection that neither of them had anticipated. She glanced at him, whose expression mirrored her bewilderment. Sasha could see the Alpha's eyes widen in surprise, a flicker of confusion crossing his features before he quickly composed himself. Sasha could tell that he wasn't happy with the moon's choice, and she could feel the resentment growing in her chest.
