"Are you sure your mom won't notice?" Dylan sounded rather unsure.
"Levi didn't notice you guys aren't really girls so..."
"That's because he's stupid." Cody commented.
"Yeah, I don't know about this, boss." Evan gulped.
We were standing right in front of my new house, debating whether to go in or not.
"Well, if she finds out then she finds out." I mumbled before ringing the doorbell.
Instead of my mom answering the door, it was Landon. And he was shirtless.
"Hello... girls?" He swiftly placed a black shirt on.
"Who are you?" Cody arched a brow.
"He's my step-brother, Landon." I introduced him.
"And who are they?" Landon wore a puzzled look. Probably contemplating whether he should point out Evangeline's stubble or not.
"They're my friends." I smiled a bit too widely.
"Okay. I'm off to somewhere. Be back in a bit." Landon gave me a quick peck on the cheek before sauntering off.
"What the..." Cody's face cracked.
"He's not usually like that." I chuckled nervously.
"Who gave him the right?" Dylan continued to stare at Landon's back as he walked away from us.
"Well, what have we here?" My mom showed up to greet us.
"These are my new girlfriends!" I said proudly.
In your face, mom!
"Oh. Erin, kitchen. Now." My mom faked a smile.
What a great pretender she is.
I told my gang to go wait in the living room before following my mother into the kitchen.
"Honey, you do realize that your so called 'girl friends' are actually boys who are cross-dressing as girls, right?" She told me slowly so that I could understand each word like I'm some kid who's being told that there is no 'Santa Claus'.
"So what if they're cross-dressers? They still look like girls and this is what you wanted, right? Make a couple of girl friends? You don't have to judge my new friends like that." I sighed.
"Okay. I'll go make tea and some scones to go with it." She finally gave it a rest.
It's a good thing that I didn't bring the guys to our old house in the past. Makes it easier for her not to recognize them now.
******
"She didn't buy it but at least she thinks you guys are cross-dressers. That's still good I guess." I said out loud.
"Good? You mean, we have to act girly every time we visit your house from now on?" Dylan clarified.
"Duh. I'm fine with it as long as we get to hang out with Erin each day. Apparently, five days apart is too long for me so I'm not complaining. The red wig suits me anyway." Cody said.
"Says who? Levi even asked if you were transgendered and I don't think that's a compliment." Evan made a disgusted face.
"You guys didn't have to transfer schools for me. I can take care of myself." I told them.
"Are you kidding me? I heard Levi and his gang are bullying you! That's not right." Dylan raised his voice a bit.
"He's not bullying me yet. Just gave me social cancer but apart from that, he's a real softie for someone who owns the place." I shrugged.
"Really?"
"Wants me to join his gang but I said, 'No way, Jose'. b***h, I'm loyal." Not the exact words but same message.
"That's our girl!" Cody ruffled my hair and just then, my mom came in with the tea and the scones.
"Ooh, snacks! Thank you, Mrs. K!" Evan quickly took the tray away from my mother.
"Wow, these are really good!" Cody swallowed one scone after another like a savage beast.
Dylan and I just exchanged looks as if saying, 'This is so messed up.'
"I believe you haven't introduced each one of them yet?" Mom cleared her throat.
"I'm Dylia." Dylan shook my mother's hand like a proper lady would.
"Cordy." Cody said with his mouth full.
"Evangeline." And so did Evan.
"Right. I have to go do the laundry now." Mom said rather awkwardly. Probably disgusted by my friends' lack of manners.
"No, you don't. We have plenty of housekeepers to do that." I thought out loud.
I swear I could see her eye twitch as she glared at me like an owl.
She went out of my room without saying another word.
"I just realized something." I said.
"What? That I look good with my wig?" Cody wiggled his eyebrows.
"That you guys suck as girls. Dylan's okay though." I sighed.
"Speak for yourself. You suck as a girl too, Erin. You're more of a guy than a girl really." Cody blabbed.
I shot him a death glare which made him choke on his scone.
*SATURDAY*
"Erin, go walk your fat dog outside before he poops everywhere again!" Mom roughly knocked on my door at 7 AM.
"But it's a Saturday..." I grumbled, half asleep.
I sent a text to my gang to meet me in front of my house as soon as possible.
"Where are Cody and Dylan?" I asked Evan when he arrived.
He was sporting a black beanie with a dark blue Letterman jacket.
"Dylan's stuck babysitting his baby bro and Cody's not up yet." He says.
"So I guess it's just you and me, huh?" I smiled and he smiled back.
"We better get out of here before my mom sees you in an actual boy clothing."
"Is it just me or did Bacon grow fatter from the last time I saw him?" He examined my bulldog up close.
